What difficulties are there with getting a tattoo at 16?

I am 16 and about to receive a tattoo on my left bicep on my arm and was wondering, since my body is still growing, will it have any effect on the tattoo such as stretching or deforming as I gradually get older?

But I would also like to add that I am a boxer and I am still trying to build muscle will this also have an effect?

And any other advice or effect you might have please add to your response, thankyou.

Answer
Firstly, it is illegal for anyone to tattoo you under the age of 18 they will get prosecuted for assault on a minor.

Secondly, depending how fast you gain mass on your arms there is a risk of stretch marks through your new tatt. However These can be touched over and would only be a problem if you gained the weight quickly. Oiling your upper arm (once fully healed) would reduce this risk as it does with pregnant women.

Thirdly, your still growing and at 16 you may not have reached your final body shape or size. Tattoos put on younger persons do have tendency to wander a little an the arms change shape and size. What fits your arm perfectly at 16 will look too small for you and may wander from the optimum central position by the time you are 18 and depending on the tattoo you choose it may well deform (generally pulled diagonally) as your bicep grows. But as i say it does depend on the tattoo you choose as to how obvious this becomes.

In my opinion you should wait a few more years before you tattoo your arms especially if you plan to gain muscle mass. If your adamant on getting a tattoo at 16 it would maybe be better to get it on your lower leg as a boxer gains most of his weight up top and this would reduce the growing worries.

Pick your artist carefully, reputable artists wont risk tattooing under age people.

How to be safe when getting a tattoo?

Daphne

I want a tattoo, but I want to be safe. So, what are some precautions I should take when choosing a place?

BQ: does shaving over your tattoo make it fade?

Answer
The safest thing you could do would be not to get one in the first place! It might look great now, but depending on where on your body you get the tattoo, it may move and/or stretch, and look just awful in 20 or 30 years or less. Plus if that tattoo is something you later decide you don't want, like the name of a lover, you may want it removed, which is possible (and expensive), but there will likely always be scarring!

If you are set on getting on tattoo, then go for it. It's not my thing, by I wouldn't judge someone for having one! I'd say most of the people I know have tattoos! Just make sure the place you're going to is clean and has a good reputation. If you can find anything out about the particular tattoo shop from the internet or word of mouth, that would great. Also look around when you go in the shop itself. If the shop or the employees look dirty, I'd get out of there quick. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the tattoo procedure itself, and what steps the business uses for infection control, like how they sanitize their equipment and stuff. If the employees get annoyed with you for asking such questions, or avoids answering them, I'd say that's another cue to run out the door as fast as you can.

I've known a few women who've gotten tattoos on their legs, and I've never once heard one of them mention that shaving fades the tattoo, so I wouldn't worry about that!

Answer
Lacing cards used to be popular, but many children nowadays have never seen them. You can make your own with greeting cards. If the card is lightweight, glue it to a second layer of cardstock or light cardboard. Punch holes all around the picture, kind of like where you'd put the dots if you were making a dot-to-dot of that picture. Get a 2-foot (or so) length of yarn or thin ribbon in a color that works well with that picture. Put white glue (like Elmer's) on one end to make a point. Tie a honking-big knot in the other end, or tie a small bead to that end instead of a knot. You could use a colorful shoelace, as it already has the hard end. You make these lacing cards beforehand and let the kids do them.

Paper bag puppets. Get lunch-bag sized paper bags in brown or white. Most grocery stores sell a pack of 50 for a couple of bucks. Take along paper and fabric scraps to be glued to the bags to make clothing for the puppets, markers to draw the faces, and yarn for hair. Have the kids decide on a story, make a puppet for a character, and then act it out with their puppets, once the glue is dry. Before lunch or naps is a good time to make these, so they can be used after lunch or naps.

Temporary tattoos can easily be made from colored tissue paper (like you put in the top of gift bags.) Cut a shape from the tissue paper, wet the back of the kid's hand, put the shape on it, and hold it down for 5-10 seconds. Count them off. Then, take off the paper, and see the tattoo. Even the baby could have one of these.

How would you perceive an attractive female with a not so girly tattoo?

tattoos for women back pieces on tattoos for girls
tattoos for women back pieces image

Nikki

but not manly at all! just not the average hearts, butterflies, all that unoriginal stuff (no offense they look cute and all!) haha

something alittle more. for example a tattoo like angelina's, megan fox's tats etc?

i personally love them and it makes them a little endearing and mysterious, its not something you'd expect from a pretty girl. makes her unique

def. badass! what do you guys think? just curious?

Answer
i personally think that not so feminine tattoos are hot on women, and all the guys ive dated would def. agree.

most of the guys ive dated or been interested in, ive met because they noticed my tattoos and were intrigued, which is not very common for pretty young girls to be very heavily tattooed. [i mean, two sleeves, full chest piece, feet, ribs, one calf, piece on the neck behind the ear.. pretty heavy]

i mean, you'll never be able to get EVERYONE you ask to agree that theyre hot or not, but from my experience and from people i know, heavy tattoos or not feminine tattoos on women are extremely hot.

at the same time, i do get weird looks, or ive had an old woman say to me "those are for ugly girls" or things like that. i do have people ask "why such a pretty young girl would do that to herself", so yes, there will always be haters. but get a tattoo for yourself, not for the rest of society!!

tattoos are also starting to be a lot more socially acceptable these days-- almost everyone, even a community's most-respected people, are getting tatted up now!

Does anyone else think that tattoos on women are going out of style?

my_alias_i

At first it was sexy and unusual, now every woman seems to have reading material above her butt, a bird on her shoulder, and a butterfly on her ankle. I'd love to meet a woman that has natural skin from head to toe for a change. What do you think?
Sorry for singling out women. This should also include Tribal Art for men. Do you think that these "fashon tattoos" are going out of style?

Answer
All depends. Yes there are some very standard looking and placed tattoos that likely done just because everyone else had them done. There are also pieces of art done by talented professionals. As long as it doesn't make one look like they came out of the same printing press and the work is not overdone I have no issue with that. Also why there should be any difference how tattoos should be viewed on women and men? I disagree with that.

what are the better ways to dye your hair multi-colors with and underneath layer and the layer of your roots?

top 5 tattoos for women on Labels: Tattoo Light as a Feather Wonderful twists on two actual ...
top 5 tattoos for women image

poisongirl

I was going to dye my hair myself with a friend helping me because the salon is way too much, and my hair is kinda long. multi colors-ish. it would be black on the top part and underneath it would be a carmelish brown and then the bottom layer ( the brown color) would be red tips. and then my (side) bangs are just going to be black near the roots, brown in the middleish, and then red tip on the very tip.

Answer
I do not recommend them.
I've responded to many girls (guys now too) under 15 experiencing in hair loss since 2009, due to hair straightening, relaxers and hair dyes. Women 60-90 have those same symptoms but it took them years to get there. But for 15 & under, giving advice here? They can't predict the future of their hairs, until they're in their 30's, but 15 & under with hair loss? C'mon! I've responded 7 in 2 hours 9-3-10, (before school started) 4 in 1hour 3-5-11 alone. 3 in 1hr. 8-8-11, 6 in 15 mins. 11-10-11.
One Example: Last month, around oct 5th, I decided my husband and I were going to be tinkerbell and peter pan for halloween. I have really dark hair. I tried to dye it blonde. Tried 3 times in two days to go blonde. Nothing worked. So I wanted to go back dark. It took me two dyes to get it back to black. So that's 5 times in about 3 days. A month later, my hair is falling out in crazy amounts.
What can I do to stop it? ??? I'm going crazy over this!

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.
Example: "My hair is right about armpit length as it is, but I've severely damaged it by bleaching it all at once. As a student of cosmetology myself, I would have to say that it was probably one of the worst mistakes I could have ever made."
Another example: ok i did my hair yesterday i DIDN'T bleach it ,but im not sure what its called but she took the color out of my hair and then dies it a blond color and my head was on fire it killed me so after that i hated my hair color so i colored it my self a darker color, it looked so ugly and it burned me again it rully hrt so after i washed it my mom checked it for me and found small spots of blood all over my top scalp like over 20 of em now im scared and don't know why its there is it from the color am i sick and something is wrong ??

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

How to plan out a tattoo sleeve?

,

So I'm seriously thinking about starting a sleeve. I have some tattoos that I really want to get done, but they are not all in the same theme... would it look weird?

What are some ways to plan out a sleeve? I'm just scared that the tattoos won't tie together and that it will look like a bunch of individual tattoos instead of a flowing series.

Answer
Sleeve tattoo

You choose the following:
1. The concept or theme. For example is it going to be about music, love, romance, Alice in Wonderland, or nature. This is all up to you. It should always reflect who you are in your heart and soul.

2. You choose the style. Here are the main ones: Tribal, Fineline Color, Fineline Black and grey, Japanese, Traditional America or New School. If you need examples feel free to email me and I will send some.

3. Pick the images you want in the sleeves. For example a music sleeve would have your favorite musicians, instruments, music staff and notes, etc. They should be in the same theme or they look weird.

4. Next you choose open or closed sleeves. Open sleeves leaves lots of space between the images to give it an airy feel. Closed sleeves means all skin is tattooed even between images, this give the sleeve a more powerful look and feel. The choice is up to you.

5. Next choose an artist. This is not for the average tattoo artist. It has to be a master artist, someone who has done a lot of sleeves. Many times there are none in your area so you will have to travel. If you need recommendations email me at the email address below and I will give you some.

The rest is up to the custom artist. They will draw up the sleeve first and show you what they have, except tribal is best drawn right on the arm. Make sure you tell them you want a proper sleeve, which means it should start on the top of the shoulder, include the armpit (Yeah it hurts) and finish on the top of the hand like an opera glove. If you want it perfect you can include knuckle and finger tattoos. Donât worry about the hand, because with a full sleeve it cannot be hid anyway, so everyone will know so why not do it right.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email them to me at tatmaster28@yahoo.com

Good Luck. When sleeves are done right on a woman, they can look awesome and even change your entire life for the better.

Im 16 A while ago i saw this girl in my school who had 2 little black flying birds behind her ear. I loved it and couldnt stop thinking of it since, its the perfect location (easy to hide, but can show when want to) and its not tacky, too big or something i feel i would regret in the future. But now i feel like people would think i copied her (which i technically am) but i really love it. Does anyone else have any similar ideas? i hate stars or colours or anything like that but something small to put behind my ear. Thanks!

Answer
Well I have a black dove behind my ear, but you said you didn't want a bird. You could get a short word that means something to you, like live, laugh, love. The most important thing to consider when you get a tattoo is to get something you will love for the rest of your life, not what other people are going to think. My advice: get a bird if that is what your really want, if not, think about it for a while, tattoos are not meant to be rushed into... I mean it is permanent. And tattoos are how you represent who you are.

In your opinion, what is the best tattoo for teenage girls to get ?

Snow Flake

So, a little about me...
I'm sixteen, have a daughter named Serenity. I'm kinda peachish paleish, really short, long brown hair with blonde highlights, braces, glasses, hazel eyes. I like being pretty but also got my tomboy days>:) I like to get dirty, wrestle/play-fight, video games, English class:), making new friends, hanging out with guys, drawing, singing, animals, babies, and listening to music. I live in Ohio, but am from Texas. I don't listen to a certain kind of music, I listen to everything. From Machine Gun Kelly, to Linkin park, Nicki Minaj, Nickelback, Brad Paisley, etc. I listen to everything.. ! And I am outgoing and loud and beautiful. I have tons of friends and a good life. I've had a hard life too though.

Based on all of that, what do you think the BEST tattoo would be for me and where at ?
Ideally, I want a tattoo on my hand, wrist, behind my ear, on my shoulder, lower back ( tramp stamp ? it's called I think ), ankle, or up the side of my belly. Or on my foot. So what should I get!!!???
Also, how much does it hurt in each of the places I mentioned? And how much does a small tattoo cost? And how long does it take ?

Answer
This website isn't the best place for advice on this. A tattoo should be only about/for you, not what the internet and a bunch of strangers say is best. Personally, I think getting a tattoo at sixteen is a bad idea. I've met a lot of people who regret getting one just because they want one around that age.

If you are seriously thinking about it, do some research. Look into tattoo books and blogs. Doodle your heart out and find symbols and images that appeal to you. Once you've found something you think you like, draw it up or have an artistic friend draw it up for you. Then, put it on your bathroom mirror for at least a month. If you still like it after seeing it every day for an extended period of time, then maybe think about going for it. You can place that drawing on yourself and shift it around until you find a place it fits.

I want to get a tattoo in honor of my mom that died when I was 7. Its a snowflake thats melting. My mom was born on December and died on July. I want to get it right over my heart with some water drops going down my breast. Would this hurt a lot? Would it look nice? Some friends told me to add a little bit of fire.

Answer
I love this idea. it would symbolize the events perfectly. i'm sorry for the loss of your mom.

this tattoo could be complicated or simple depending on the snowflake you want. the pain would depend on the size and how detailed you want the flake. i guess it would hurt a bit because the breast area is sensitive to some girls. i don't think it would look bad i think it wud look nice actually. and the fire would add a nice touch. make the fire under the snowflake and the snowflake on top w/ some flames covering the bottom edges of the flake. the drops down ur breast wud let it be obvious its melting and wud look perfect. it wud also have a nice but sad story to go with it.

good luck, hope ur happy w/ it once u get it done. again sorry about the loss.

what are my chances of having liver cancer?

amd010487

I have recently gotten results from my bloodwork back and my bad cholesterol was a little high, everything else was fine except my liver showed elevated function. almost a year ago i got pain in my right side under my breast and some in my back. and i have gotten the pain a couple weeks ago and thats it..could it just be nothing with the elevated function..i am so worried and scared. i have two little girls, i dont see the dr until tomorrow.

Answer
It's hard to answer this question without your medical background, but as a hep c educator and one who knows that elevated liver enzymes may be a sign of hepatitis C, you should talk to your doctor about getting tested for hep A, B, and C. I don't know if you've had any of the risk factors, but if you have, even only one time, then you should get tested. Risk factors are blood transfusions before '92, tattoos, piercings, IV drug use (even if only once), snorting drugs, sharing razors or toothbrushes, military & medical exposure to blood, dialysis, pnuematic vaccinations (military), & risky sex (MSM, anal, or kinky where blood is involved). Best wishes.

If I loose a significant amount of weight will my tattoo stretch?

Cybernetic

I'm thinking about getting a bicep tattoo, the only thing is that I gain and loose weight a lot and was worried it could distort the tatt. Does anyone have any experience in the field? What about an inner forearm tatt, my second choice.

Answer
Well weight gain/loss in a slow gradual way won't affect your tattoo too much as long as you don't get obese. However, If you gain/lose a lot really quickly, like within a 2-4 months, it can affect your tattoos.

Pregnancy is a good example. If a woman has tattoos on her stomach area and gets pregnant the skin stretches really quick (for skin anyway) and stretch marks will ruin tattoos. You can't really fix tattoos that were distorted by stretch marks.

However, you can tattoo over stretch marks and it won't affect the tattoo, but stretch marks after you get the tattoo isn't good.

But on thing to not with yours it that you are getting it on your forearm. Really unless you get really heavy your forearms aren't going to be affected that much. They might get a little chunkier but not enough to hurt your tattoo.

Is a cloud design tattoo considered feminine?

BadJuJu85

I currently have a sleeve started with 50 randomly placed stars on my right arm. The original filler of the Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty torch, and "Don't Tread on Me" shield and sword didn't quite fit in without the important features being blocked by stars. Plan B would be clouds as a filler; are cloud design mostly for women, men, or both?

Answer
Cloud tattoo's are more common for women, but there are enough men who have a cloud tattoo on them, mostly combined with something.

The big difference is that when a man gets a tattoo from a cloud, he wants it to be more rough (fatter lines, heavier shadows, those kind of things)

I want to get a tattoo for my husband and I want to be able to look at it and see everything he means to me and I want him to be able to look at it and see how much I love him. We've had a very hard relationship. We started dating in April 2010 and fell in love, he was an alcoholic and we had bad fights that got physical we ended up separating in December 2010 and saw other people for a year and right before we deprecated I got pregnant.i had our daughter in September 2011 and my family wouldn't allow him to see her. In February of 2012 he broke up with the girl he had been with since we separated because he wanted to get back together and she committed suicide the next morning she was also his best friend before they dated so he was devastated and he blamed himself. We both lost contact with each other until June of 2012 when he contacted me again and told me he still loved me and he wanted to be a family. I broke off my engagement and we got back together on his birthday July 2012. My mother then refused to give us our daughter and there were police and court involved in that situation. We got married in September 2012 and in October were finally able to get our daughter back. At that time we were living in a motel, by the end of the month we were out of there and in an apartment with his parents. His parents and I don't get along at all and after his father threatened me three times I moved out in June of 2013. I got pregnant in March of 2013 with our second daughter. He and his parents still live in that apartment because he's not allowed to live at my mothers and we can't afford to live on our own. Our dog had puppies and the landlord is kicking them out so now we had to sign the puppies over to the SPCA and my husband sleeps in his truck with our two other dogs because they aren't allowed on the property. Our marriage ha suffered terrifically trough all of this but were still holding on fighting for each other because our love is that strong but it's hard and

What is the difference between (black) henna and Jagua ?

V3RN13R5

Which is best to make body paint with or tattoo's and can you dye your hair with black henna and can you dye your hair with jagua? Which one stays longer i tattoo form (non-permanent kind)
What is temptu and how long does it last? How long does henna and jagua last, which is better for a tattoo? And looks more like one ?

Answer
Do not use "black henna". It is not henna, it can be made many substances - some benign some harmful - none of it being henna but it can possibly burn and scar by chemical burn.

I did a brief search on Jagua (since I never heard of it), but the name of the plant the product is derived from is Genipa americana.

I have used temptu, its a professional grade temporary tattoo. It is used for makeup special effect in movies. It is alcohol based, last 2-5 days and can be removed with baby oil. Can give realistic tattoos.

Indigo is a plant used for thousands of year for dying and ink. It gives a dark blue/black result. Is it similar to henna in that you can dye your hair with it (for natural black dye) or create blue/black tattoos. When using for tattoos - indigo crystals with water in a shot glass are applied with a small paintbrush. It can last about 3-5 days.
Also it depends where on the skin it is applied (hands, feet, face, elsewhere).

Personally I prefer henna - I like the dark red brown color, it fades to a more natural skin tone and last the longest (again depending on where applied - bottoms of hands and feet last the longest)

I've gotten most of my information on Henna and Indigo from Catherine Cartwright Jones who is a fabulously interesting women earning her PhD on the study of Henna.
Explore her sites (posted below) they have a plethora of information.

For a "black" tattoo I would use temptu because it is black and not water soluble. Good Luck!

did the real cheng shih the famouse chinese female pirate really have a portrait of someone named jacky?

Brittany H

in the book wake of the Loralie lee in the authors note it says a portrait of a young European girl named Jacky was found in her personal effects. Just wondering if that was true.

Answer
On their long journey to Australia, Jacky manages to pick up an "untouchable" orphan in India, who joins the ship's crew. Along the way, Jacky later becomes the personal pet of Cheng Shih, a female Chinese pirate who controlled one of the largest pirate fleets in history. http://fourthmusketeer.blogspot.ca/2010/08/book-review-wake-of-lorelei-lee-bloody.html ------------------ In The Wake of the Lorelei Lee, book eight of L.A. Meyer's Bloody Jack series, Jacky is captured by Cheng Shih and so impresses her that the pirate bestows her with a tattoo of a dragon on the back of her neck to indicate she is under Shih's protection.------------- Ching Shih (1775â1844) was a prominent female pirate in middle Qing China.
Ching Shih also known as Cheng I Sao terrorized the China Sea in the early 19th century. A brilliant Cantonese female pirate, she commanded 1800 ships and more than 80,000 pirates â men, women, and even children. She challenged the world superpower empires at the time such as the British, Portuguese and the Qing dynasty. Undefeated, she would become one of China and Asia's strongest female pirates, and one of world history's most powerful female pirates. She was also one of the few pirate captains to retire from piracy.
She became subject to numerous books, novels, video games and films. Early life
Little is known about Ching Shih's early life, including her birth name and precise date of birth. She was a Cantonese prostitute who worked in small brothel of Canton, but was captured by pirates. In 1801, she married Zheng Yi, a notorious Cantonese-Chinese pirate. The name she is best remembered by means simply "widow of Zheng". Pirate career
Zheng Yi belonged to a family of successful pirates who traced their criminal origins back to the mid-seventeenth century. Following his marriage to Ching Shih, Zheng Yi used military assertion and his reputation to gather a coalition of competing Cantonese pirate fleets into an alliance. By 1804, this coalition was a formidable force, and one of the most powerful pirate fleets in all of China. They seized loot in all sorts of ways â selling "protection" from pirate attacks, raiding ships, and kidnapping. In 1806, a British officer reported on the terrible fate of those who resisted Ching Shih's pirates. The pirates had nailed an enemy's feet to the deck and then beaten him senseless.
In 1807, Zheng Yi died, and Ching Shih maneuvered her way into his leadership position. The fleet under her command established hegemony over many coastal villages, in some cases even imposing levies and taxes on settlements. According to Robert Antony, Ching Shih "robbed towns, markets, and villages, from Macau to Canton." She was fearless and disciplined her men with strict rules and castrated any man who would commit rape.
The Red Flag Fleet under Ching Shih's rule could not be defeated â not by Qing dynasty Chinese officials, not by the Portuguese navy, not by the British. But in 1810, amnesty was offered to all pirates, and Ching Shih took advantage of it. She ended her career in 1810, accepting an amnesty offer from the Chinese government. She kept her loot, married her lieutenant and adoptive son Cheung Po Tsai, and opened a gambling house.
She died in 1844, at the age of 69.
Cultural references
A semi-fictionalized account of Ching Shih's life appeared in Jorge Luis Borges's short story "The Widow Ching, Lady Pirate" (part of A Universal History of Infamy, first edited in 1954), where she is described as "a lady pirate who operated in Asian waters, all the way from the Yellow Sea to the rivers of the Annam coast", and who, after surrendering to the imperial forces, is pardoned and allowed to live the rest of her life as an opium smuggler. Borges acknowledged the 1932 book The History of of Piracy, by Philip Gosse (grandson of the naturalist Philip Henry Gosse), as the source of the tale.
In 2003, Ermanno Olmi made a film, Singing Behind Screens, loosely based on Borges's retelling, though rights problems prevented the Argentine writer from appearing in the credits.
Afterlife, a 2006 OEL graphic novel, depicts Ching Shih as a guardian who fights demons to protect the denizens of the underworld.
In The Wake of the Lorelei Lee, book eight of L.A. Meyer's Bloody Jack series, Jacky is captured by Cheng Shih and so impresses her that the pirate bestows her with a tattoo of a dragon on the back of her neck to indicate she is under Shih's protection.
In 2007, In third film in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Ching Shih was also known as Mistress Ching, and played the role of a powerful female pirate.

What do you think about girls with tattoos?

BostonGurl

I'm getting one in december with my friend.
right now I'm 17 but I will be 18 by the time december rolls around.

so what do you think about girls with tattoos?
I'm getting a butterfly on my lower back on the right.
it has a special meaning to me.

Answer
I have one on my abdomen currently, but I'm getting my second on the back of my thigh in a little more than a month.
(I'm 17. My mom wants me to wait because its a long drive to the shop just for her to sign a form, and she already did it once lol)

I personally think if they're personal, have some meaning, and are self-designed/designed by somebody special they're gorgeous.
I'm sick of seeing girls with stupid little cupcakes and fairies on their shoulder, and angel wings. Geeze lets get a little more original!

(my abdomen is an eiffel tower that turns into a rose. Self designed and drawn. It has a really important meaning. My next one is the outline of the state of Texas with an awareness ribbion and a date in certain spots. It also is significant, because I have the disease and my clinic is in Texas while I live in Canada. Also self designed and drawn)

Whats the best Tattoo to get for a girl, and where to put it?

missy

Im planning MAYBEE to get a tattoo so any ideas?

Answer
if you're getting a tattoo because you just wanna look cute a trendy and sexy for guys, DONT BOTHER. im so sick of girls getting their hips and shit tattooed with flowers or stars or hearts because its cute and they think it'll get them laid.

but if you're serious and want it for YOU and not to look trendy or whatever, i think ribs are awesome. i have my ribs done. its easy to hide, but u can show it off at the beach. huge space where you can get something small, or something huge. won't stretch if you have kids, like your tummy or low abdomen or hips might.

good luck

Whenever I see girls with tattoos there are a couple places that make me go nuts.
I love it when a girl has a tattoo above her butt and I also love tiny ones behind a girls neck. Im a big fan of seeing my name tattooed on their butt too, shows they care.

Answer
Lower back tattoos are trashy.
Back of the neck is sexy though.
Personally my favorite is the lower stomach.

How many tattoos are too many on a girl? Should i get another one?

Q. I already have a tattoo of a floral vine that wraps up my foot and behind my ankle and one on my bikini line of a tribal butterfly. SInce they are addictive im thinking of getting a 3rd one on the back of my neck below the hairline. BUT i don't want to be the"tattoo girl". At what point do they go from being tasteful to unattractive?

Answer
At what point do they go from being tasteful to unattractive? It all depends on the types of tattoos and the confidence of the person. I remember seeing two girls one day both with full arm tattoos. The first girl I saw in the morning had a full sleeve and swallows on each shoulder (tank top shirt). The way she carried herself and the beautiful coloring of all her tattoos made it look AMAZING!! Meanwhile the girl I saw in the afternoon also had a full sleeve, but her tattoo was a weird naked woman with poems written out on her arm, she noticed I kept staring at her arm and told me not to read her arms (my expression was ??). So to recap my little tale, get as MANY and as COLORFUL as long as you are confident and proud of them all.

How painful is a tattoo on your forehead?

tattoos for women on your side on Side Hand Tattoos - Crazy Body Tattoos
tattoos for women on your side image

Sean

Don't give me a speech or preach about tattoo on my forehead I want it a little above the between of my eyes a simple stick cross. How painful would this be?

Answer
I answer these questions related to pain in the same way every time.

The pain in different places differs from person to person, pain threshold does have a lot of input but, for example, my chest tattoo didn't hurt at all, where as some people I know said their chest tattoo hurt a lot!

Anyway, here's a basic pain level chart I always reffer people to.

Pain level 1
These include the upper arm, forearm, calf, Bum, and Thigh. For a 1st tattoo these are great points to begin your inked journey.

Pain level 2
These include the centre back, front / side of thighs and shoulders. This is also not too bad a start for your first tattoo. The shoulders and central back region can be area that require quite a lot of movement. The skin on these areas is much looser meaning it takes longer to tattoo and also longer to heal. On areas that have lots of movement such as these, require more care once a tattoo is completed. Due to the thigh area being quite a dense muscle mass and also quite tight skin, it may tend to bruise the day after.

Pain level 3
These include the knees, elbows, hands, head, neck, feet, chest and back of thighs. Beginners beware of starting at these areas. You would need to be determined to have tattoos here as the high sensitivity would require a lot of mental focus to get you through. The poor quality of skin on both the knees and elbows will result in a very slow tattoo process and nerves are very close to the surface in these areas. This could result in the tattooing being unbearable for any length of time for some people. As with the orange areas these tend to be high movement areas and will require a longer healing timescale. You may find that to achieve a good solid colour, you may have to repeat the tattoo process on these areas. As a side note the chest area on men can be much more sensitive to pain than a woman, yet due to the tighter skin on a male, the tattoo can be completed quicker.

Pain level 4 (OWCHIE!)
Areas include hips, ribcage, stomach, back of knees, armpit, inside of elbow, nipples, lips, inside of thighs and genitals. Are you really sure you want to get that tattoo? As these areas can elicit crying, half finished tattoos or even the customer passing out. This could just be more than you may be able to handle. All of these purple areas are considered by most to be the most painful areas to be tattooed. The stretchy or thin skin over bone are slow to tattoo, some of these may require multiple sessions to achieve solid colour and smooth shading. Healing can be just as painful as receiving the tattoo and may require a few days off from your regular activities.

SOME USEFUL TIPS WHEN GETTING A TATTOO:

â¢Women are your more sensitive the week prior to and during your cycle. Plan around those dates to have the best experience possible when getting your tattoo.
â¢Use lotion everyday on the area to be tattooed at least 1 week prior for healthier skin and better results.
â¢Do not go out in the sun at least one week prior to being tattooed (including tanning beds) This drys the skin and if peeling occurs could damage the tattoo.
â¢Consider what you will wear for 2 weeks while healing if your tattoo is in an area like the foot, waist, shoulders or chest. Shoes, waistbands, belts, underwear, and bras can all damage tattoos if you do not plan ahead. Find comfortable clothing that will not touch or rub during this time.
â¢Always eat a good meal before being tattooed and drink plenty of fluids.
â¢Be sure to get a good nights rest before your appointment.
â¢Ask what kind of aftercare products you will need when you set up to get your tattoo.
â¢Mention any allergies you may have, pigments, dyes, perfumes.
â¢Some medication may thin your blood, check with your doctor before being tattooed.
â¢Anyone with an autoimmune disorder needs to check with their doctor and should bring a note to be tattooed.

Muslims >>> Is it a sin to get a permanent tattoo?

Buk

I am a Muslim from Turkey, and I was raised religiously. I was always thought that permanent tattoos are a sin. But last week, I went to Jordan, Petra. Its an amazing place, but I noticed something. There are a lot of bedouins there, and they have facial tattoos, especially women. They had tattoos on their faces like dots, and Islamic arts. Is this allowed?

Answer
well the only way i think i can really think this through is to make a pro and cons list.

but unfortunately i had way more hardcore cons than pros. Only Allah knows. but its better to stay on the safe side. plus it probably is haram because there is a hadith that says that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that if anyone does anything to show off has committed the sin of shirk.

this is because you are trying to please someone else other than Allah. And if you dont know for sure that tattoos are halal and you still get one, it's like not really caring if its halal or not you just want to show off with your tattoo, which is MAJOR shirk.

btw, i dont mean you personally, im just talking in general. :)

i really hope i helped!
and hope your question is answered with a real legit answer, insha'Allah!

oh p.s. those dots you say on womens face, if your talking about the line on their chin and the two dots on each side, thats a tattoo the country people do. they are committing shirk as well, because they do it because they think it makes them look beautiful. but thats only if thats the tattoo your talking about.

What is the worst chinese tattoo (meaning) you have seen?

Chinese words tattoo is kind of hot these days. Many people inscribe their bodies in chinese writing. However, some have really weird meanings. I have seen one with a swear word "f...", "tramp", "heavy flow" meaning diarrhea. I don't know how much more weird can this gets? Hopefully, people will get ink that make sense. Beckham have a smart chinese tattoo.

Answer
When they first caught on, there weren't as many ways to check the meanings of Chinese and Japanese tattoos. I have not seen these, but I heard about them on the radio- apparently a Chinese tattoo artist got fed up with dumb Americans getting stuff they couldn't read put on their bodies just to be trendy, so he started to put characters different from the meanings he gave on people- his victims were as follows:
A girl who wanted to have "beautiful princess" on her midriff (near her bellybutton), he wrote "insert General Tso's Chicken here"
A college student who wanted something like "strength" or "warrior" (can't remember) on his chest instead got "Small penis"
There were a couple others I can't remember.

I also heard about someone getting something like "idiot", instead of whatever it was that they wanted, and another who was given "I can't read Chinese".

What other body piercing do you think will be accepted by society like ear piercings are?

Q. Ear piercings are really common and its not "unprofessional" to wear them. Pretty much 90% of all girls have their ears pierced and get them at a young age. What other piercings do you think will be this way? Belly Button piercings are very common and so are nose piercings, but what do you all think?

Answer
I think that all piercing will be accepted soon. Of course we sell body jewelry and hope thats so, but in the last couple of years we have had older -like over 60-women buying belly rings for themselves. Lots of parents come in and buy body jewelry for their kids. Usually cute stuff like care bears is alot more accepted than the goth suff.

When anybody says anything about how can I sell it (can't see my piercings) I tell them that it is not permenant like a tattoo, and you can always take it out or wear a retainer. They seem to accept it more then. labrets & eyebrow rings get more accepted every year and we are in a rural area not a big city.

What breast cancer tattoo should I get?

I'm 19 years old, and my mom is my world. She was just recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Every woman in my family for the last five generations, excluding myself for now, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I would like to get a tattoo in honor of my mother and all of my family member who have battled with breast cancer. I was thinking of getting a Jesus fish with a pink ribbon intertwined on my foot. Does anyone else have any ideas? I would really appreciate them.

Answer
Think before you pink! You and your family are so much more than a dang pink ribbon! Your mother is so much more than a disease! If you wish to get a tattoo that honors your family, leave out the pink ribbon and get something that represents their lives and not their illness!

A family tree comes to mind . . .

Where do you like to see them? Big or Small? Sleeves?

Ohh...and (for anyone, cause I know the girls are looking too ;) ):
How do I change the layout on my myspace page? I finally cracked and got a myspace page, now I just need it to look good.
ebest2000, not all the tattoo artists are greasy biker guys. LOL. It's just a stereotype. I have two main artists. One is a women, and awesome. But for my next tattoo, her style wouldn't have been quite right, I was looking for a harder look for the dragon that will go on my hip and my boyfriend directed me to his tattoo artist who is a really cool guy (married) just runnin his own business and doin his own thing.

Answer
Okay first of all I never used to like tattoo's on girls, but I have come to appreciate them. The most important thing is that the tattoo should be like a beauty mark - noticeable, dainty, placed somewhere that will be complimented by lots of bare skin. Numerous tattoos clothes together where blank skin is hard to see gets over kill.

My bigest problem however with tattoos in general is people who get tribal symbols, words in different languages or text. It is okay to get a Japanese word or symbol for example if you are Japanese, but I mostly see people with these tribal markings and symbols that needed a translater to get it put there. How is that part of you if you are caucasian and you have egyptain letters on you. SO LAME!

Guys/Girls- what do you think of this-pic included?

Rachel

If you saw a women wearing this tattoo, what would you think?
I really like the look of it-im thin too, and 18 years old, i would probably change the flowers colors to a pinkish red more but what are your opinions guys/girls?

do you think its too big of a tattoo, not very "femanine" not attractive?
I just don't know how it will look when i get older even though I would take care of it.
Thanks!

I have a large dragon (coming out of some clouds) on my right upper arm. I got it about 10 years ago when I was younger and now I have been feeling self concious about it. It covers almost all of my upper arm. I have thought about removing it but that would cost thousands of dollars that I do not have and it would leave a large scar. Do you think I should leave it? I do recieve a lot of complements on it but I still feel that it draws attention away from the rest of me.

Answer
I know a few women you have met their husbands because of their tattoos. It seemed to be a good conversation piece to break the ice. I have one on my shoulder of a rose and I love it when people ask about it. My opinion........keep it.

How does a tattoo on a woman's arm look "butch"...?

ToolGirl5-

I never got that,i have seen many arm tattoos on a women and never thought it looked manly..And why are places like the wrist, ankle, hip and the foot consider "feminine" spots...What's your opinion?

Btw i have 40 hours of work so far and have a full sleeve, planing on the other arm too...
But some people do think this, and i'm asking why..

Answer
I guess probably due to the size of a tattoo. Some females just have larger arms and larger pieces on them will make them look even larger. I find it really silly when I hear females talk about how large tattoos look manly. Every piece I have on my body is big and I still look feminine.

I live in florida where pretty much is acceptable but when I go to the midwest people seem less accepting of it. I would like to get one more small one on my forearm. Is this too much?

Answer
Tattooing people over 40 is one of the favorite parts of my job. I think it's incredible. A lot of young people don't realize how scandalizing tattoos were even just a couple of decades ago. It was something that a perfectly nice person might look at longingly, but never dare to have because they were afraid of what people would think...especially their families.

Now the industry has changed. The health standards are much higher and the artists have a diverse range of styles. Sure, there are still a lot of loopholes that allow a lot scratcher work to survive, but thats slowly getting better. The whole body modification scene has come into the mainstream of popular culture. That sort of reassurance has given confidance to all of those people who grew up with it as a taboo subculture practice.

When it comes down to it, you dont have to be just getting over your first rash of pimples to be considered hip, and it's much easier on the nerves to tattoo a 50 year old than a 20 year old. At this point, you've been through your knocks and you know exactly who you are and what you want. You're not going to get something that you dislike later and you have the money to pay for something decent instead of tracking down some scuzzball to mark you up in their kitchen for $20.

Older clients are better clients. If I had my way, I'd never touch anyone under 25 ever again. Why? I repeat: You know exactly who you are and what you want.

What are some mental tactics I can learn to help balance me out?

Piper

My life is a huge mess. I've seen and heard it all. I've had a stepdad who literally scarred my hand. I've had a psychotic painkiller addicted stepmom who tried to run my dad over with a car and has thrown everything I own LITERALLY out the window. I've had a drug addicted brother, a sex offender brother and an emo sister. I've had another step mom who's molested a 15 year old boy which my dad helped out. That same woman then back stabbed him and lied saying he stole all the money she owned.
I've had the SWAT team come and visit me sent my dear mother. I've had my fair share of medical incidents when my brother almost died when the steering in his car went out, and when my other brother aloperatingon the opperating table due to his appendix.
Alongside that all, I'm also failing in school with the dreadful subject Math, barely averaging out a 50. My previous math teacher was the only teacher I'd ever had who'd never hated me. As a matter of fact he understood me. I've got that silly school-girl crush on him not only because he's 5'10, tan, muscular dark haired and dark eyed with a tattoo on his shoulder but because he's sweet, funny, caring. Strong and affectionate also with the real bad boy country attitude.
I love someone I can never have since he's a happily married man, he's my teacher and it's illegal.
However, I'm not here to dwindle and pity myself about my ''hard'' life. I know others have it worse. I just want some simple, easy mental things I can do to control my anger. To control my sadness as well and not let things of this matter overwhelm a small child of 13 like myself.
Please help me.

Answer
Keep at your school, so you might actually escape the dark fate of your family. That is for now. School only gets you so far.
