What difficulties are there with getting a tattoo at 16?

I am 16 and about to receive a tattoo on my left bicep on my arm and was wondering, since my body is still growing, will it have any effect on the tattoo such as stretching or deforming as I gradually get older?

But I would also like to add that I am a boxer and I am still trying to build muscle will this also have an effect?

Firstly, it is illegal for anyone to tattoo you under the age of 18 they will get prosecuted for assault on a minor.

Secondly, depending how fast you gain mass on your arms there is a risk of stretch marks through your new tatt. However These can be touched over and would only be a problem if you gained the weight quickly. Oiling your upper arm (once fully healed) would reduce this risk as it does with pregnant women.

Thirdly, your still growing and at 16 you may not have reached your final body shape or size. Tattoos put on younger persons do have tendency to wander a little an the arms change shape and size. What fits your arm perfectly at 16 will look too small for you and may wander from the optimum central position by the time you are 18 and depending on the tattoo you choose it may well deform (generally pulled diagonally) as your bicep grows. But as i say it does depend on the tattoo you choose as to how obvious this becomes.

In my opinion you should wait a few more years before you tattoo your arms especially if you plan to gain muscle mass. If your adamant on getting a tattoo at 16 it would maybe be better to get it on your lower leg as a boxer gains most of his weight up top and this would reduce the growing worries.

Pick your artist carefully, reputable artists wont risk tattooing under age people.

Good luck with your tat! There are many animation programs that can help you. You could take a picture of your back and use Adobe Photoshop (or any Adobe programs) to impose a picture of the character in different positions to see where you like it best.

i personally think that not so feminine tattoos are hot on women, and all the guys ive dated would def. agree.

most of the guys ive dated or been interested in, ive met because they noticed my tattoos and were intrigued, which is not very common for pretty young girls to be very heavily tattooed. [i mean, two sleeves, full chest piece, feet, ribs, one calf, piece on the neck behind the ear.. pretty heavy]

i mean, you'll never be able to get EVERYONE you ask to agree that theyre hot or not, but from my experience and from people i know, heavy tattoos or not feminine tattoos on women are extremely hot.



at the same time, i do get weird looks, or ive had an old woman say to me "those are for ugly girls" or things like that. i do have people ask "why such a pretty young girl would do that to herself", so yes, there will always be haters. but get a tattoo for yourself, not for the rest of society!!

tattoos are also starting to be a lot more socially acceptable these days-- almost everyone, even a community's most-respected people, are getting tatted up now!

I would just like to get a general idea of how the general public feels about girls with a lot or few tattoos. I am trying to decide about just having one or a few. I am not talking sleeves and what not. I have many ideas for some tattoos and all would be placed where they could be covered up for work. I do not believe that women with tattoos show any more masculinity then a woman who has none. That is a stereotype, and completely false. I have many tattoos. My right arm is covered in them. And I have small ones on both sides of my neck, plus on my forearm , and all of my fingers have tiny paw prints in honor of my little dogs. I have anther one on the side of my calf. And plan on getting more in the future. They are very addicting and I think they make a statement about who you are. I could cover my tattoos if I needed to expect for the paw prints. I could wear gloves though. But, I take the attitude that a tattoo is a work of art and should be shown off. Why spend all that money just to hide them? I am not ashamed of them. And still get a lot of compliments of the paw prints . I should add that I was a teacher for over 20 years , so I know I am a very sensitive , kind, giving, person. Nothing mannish at all.
I love tattoos especially when they tell a story. They are art and should be displayed on the body as such. Tattoos have been around forever . And Yes they can be sexy depending on what you want and where you place them on your body.

I like the pinup idea, but I was thinking of a small silhouette tattoo, someplace discreet, like your hip. Because it would be filled in black, you could do it fairly small and not have to worry about details smudging. It could be of a woman leaning with her back against the pole, maybe one knee raise with the foot against the pole...

Also, a Lady Luck silhouette would work...

I was a little curious, I hear women comparing tattoos to childbirth constantly, and was wondering which is really more painful? I have a tattoo on my neck, and I was just curious. Thanks! :)

Oh & by the way, I know it's a totally different 'kind' of pain, but I thought women compared them so much because they both have good outcomes, something you're looking forward to. (Of course, a baby is MUCH more to look forward to than a tattoo!) Haha.

I have never had a tattoo so I can't really say, but I cannot imagine how a large muscle contraction could be compared to a tiny, localized pain of a needle / scratching / burning feeling.

I usually compare the pain of contractions with the burning and pain you feel when a muscle does hard work, like your legs if you ran a marathon. This, coupled with the low back achy cramp of intense menstrual pain.

The birth itself (crowning) if you don't have any local anesthetic or epidural is referred to as the "ring of fire" for a reason, as there is an intense burning when the tissue starts to stretch. But endorphins and adrenaline kick in shortly and help dull the sensation, as well as the blood supply to the nerves gets cut off from the stretch. And you're so excited that you're so close by that point that you're just focused on getting that baby out, so the distraction helps dull pain too.

Me and my best friend started a game. It all started when he had to use the pants of a ken Barbie doll for a book report. He just had a half naked doll in his room so he decided to pull a prank at the beginning of last semester. Over the school year the prank enveloped and people in our circle of friends had found clever and keen ways of smuggling the doll into one another's backpacks. Throughout the game the doll was stripped completely and written on accordingly. Now that it is summer, the game has evolved. We now have four naked dolls (3 of which are women, and one being the original ken doll) and we find clever, funny, and inconspicuous methods and places of hiding for each of the dolls accordingly. Each time the dolls are passed on they are now changed in some way (hair style, tattoos, accessories, notes, etc.) the dolls are now in my possession, and I long for revenge on my best friend. I understand that the people of the Internet probably have a much more comical and intelligent way of determining the perfect method of execution for this mission, so I have come to you. Please help.
