How do I convince my parents to let me get a tattoo?

So, I'm almost fifteen, and I really want to get a tattoo, but I don't want to wait until I'm 18. My parents are pretty against the whole idea of putting anything permanent on your body, and they say it will make it really hard to get a job when I get older, but personally, I don't care. By the time I'm old enough to get a job where it might matter, it won't matter anymore ( not that I'd want that kind of job anyways). They seem to think that I only want to get it so I look "cool" or " rebellious" or to get girls to like me more, but that's no the reason at all. I either want to get the words 'forever faithful' on my right hip, where I used to hurt myself, to remind myself that no matter how bad the moment seems, or how hopeless I feel, I can have faith that something or someone will come along and make me feel better, or the Trinity Knot over my heart with the three tips representing love, joy, and hope, and the center representing my spirit/soul, to remind me that those three things are always within reach and that I need to keep those ideas close to me no matter what anyone or anything does to me or how I feel at any given moment. I don't want to get it to look 'cool', I want to get it to keep me from forgetting the most crucial concepts to my happiness and to prevent me form relapsing to self harm even when I'm feeling my worst. I don't want to get anything too big or extravagant yet, maybe when I'm older, but how do i convince my parents to let me get it? I would be willing to pay for the whole thing and all that, but I don't want to wait another three years.

I don't know why everyone is such a negative nancy about tattoos. I think you have a really good tattoo idea and it isn't something that's going to "go out of style" or whatever everyone says.

My parents were the same way though, I just had to wait till I was 18.
By the way, I didn't change my mind like everyone thought I would. I got an anchor.

Can Someone help give me ideas for a tattoo?

My dad has always been my best friend, and his birthday is coming up soon, so i was thinking about getting a Daddy's Girl tattoo but i didnt want it to be the traditional looking tattoo. I need some help thinking of an idea. My dad is a welder/mechanic and loves working hard. I could only think of getting a wrench twisted into a heart with Daddy's girl written in script accross it. But does anyone have any better ideas?

the best thing to do is to go to a tattoo artist ( a good one, someone that you feel totally comfortable with) and tell them what you want and give them a little bit of an idea and they'll fly with it. thats what i did for my tattoo. my grandfather died last year and he was a sailor. i wanted something to remember him by without the name and dates and stuff. i told the guy what i was looking for ,which pretty much was an anchor with a wheel in the middle. it came out exactly what i wanted even though i didnt have a huge detailed idea. also, when getting one dont let them bully you, its on your body and make them make it how you want!

It's permanent. No one can ever take it away. That's a pro and a con. Even if you lose your job, spouse and home, you'll still have it. I am part of a crew that serves dinner to 160 homeless people once a month. I didn't make that example up out of my head.

On the other hand, if you make a mistake, or your life changes, you'll still have it; unless you go to a dermatologist for one to many long, painful, expensive sessions. The laser, I've read, feels like a rubber band snapping against your skin, over and over and over again. Figure $20,000 for a large one, and your skin will have an angry red scar where the tattoo used to be.

For a period of 10 years or so, whenever I saw a guy with a girl's name on his arm, in the YMCA locker room or at the checkout stand, or we were both pumping gas, I'd ask. 90% of them had done it when they were young and foolish, and broke up with the lady in question.

If you are asking a bunch of random strangers for a good idea, then you should not get one.

It should mean something.

If you finish first in the Olympics, Pan-Am games or NCAA finals in a swimming relay, 4 playful little dolphins around one ankle would be fitting. Lots of Olympians in London in 2012 got the 5 rings, I remember.

I met a young woman who had a solid blue star on the back of the first joint of her middle finger, so that when she did the gesture known as "flipping the bird" it would stand out more. She had a lot of anger bottled up inside her. Again, really bad idea.

I can cover mine up by wearing a long-sleeve shirt. No fuss, no bother.

lol that's quite cute, you're question. Perhaps what you are seeing is out of your own perception. Relationships are quite complicated, and what men or women look in men is still trying to be defined by scientist. Sometimes it's what we are taught a woman should look like in our culture what makes us like the type of women we like, sometimes it's what is found in our genes. The United States, like the rest of the western world, teaches young boys since childhood that the "perfect" woman is the "beautiful" one, not the smart one, but the "fine" one with all the curves and the nice jugs and the nice butt. In other countries, however, men look for other things in women, such as compability between their families (here you'll see less of that out of their lieague situation), and even in others they just allow their parents to make their decision for them.

Here in the USA you'll see a lot of not so great looking men going for the Barbie type girls, but don't be confused honey, conversely you girls ALSO have a lot to blame. I live in a big city, and it's not uncommon to see some ugly 50 year old man with a very beautiful 23 year old woman. Why? Cause culture teaches women to go for men in power, and I find that rather disgusting, not the age difference, I am no one to judge that, but the fact that in MOST of these cases I am SURE the older man would've not gotten the girl if he didn't have those millions in his bank account.....Also you'll see the ghetto men, with the graveyard job and the tattoos all over and the mean attitude mistreating girls, but all the "fine" girls drooling for him, why? cause culture says the bad boy type of guy is cool...

So as much as I agree with you that many men go for the out of their league girl, females also do very crazy and ridiculous things. Though I don't blame either for their choices, when you study this you learn it's greatly influenced by culture, we should be taught to go for personality and kind hearts and compability over looks, money, or image.

How big of a chance is there that my tattoo will stretch from being pregnant?

That is where I have a little devil and when I got pregnant his head would get huge, it was funny. It happened during all three pregnancies and it always went back to normal. Just apply alot of lotion to keep your skin soft and supple, that way not alot of stretch marks .I went back to prepregnancy weight after all three. I gained 40lbs with the first, went from 110 to 150, gained 50 with my second, went from 100 to 150 and with my third went from 115(gained 15lbs after I quit smoking to get pregnant) and went to 140. Now , I am at 115 again and he still looks the same. So good luck to you on everything. Hope you get pregnant soon.

How much will losing weight affect a tattoo?

I want it blue and to look like my skin is being held on to. I am about 80-90lbs over weight that I put on from depression that I had when my mom was sick with cancer, now that both her and I are better I want to lose the weight and be back to my healthy self. Anyways I am probably going be getting the tattoo before I lose much of any weight. I don't know when I am getting it done yet as my friend is making the appoint for me because he cousin is a really good tattoo artist. Anyways I want to know if losing weight will mess up that tattoo in the spot I said and how much it will mess it up like what will happen?! Its 80-90lbs I want to lose. Please no telling me not to do it, I just want an answer. Thank you for your help. Oh and will I have to wear a strapless bra for a while because of where I am getting it?

The back of the shoulder doesn't tend to be very fatty so I'd say it shouldn't get affected too much but having said that, everyone holds fat in different areas and it might change for some more than others. Personally I'd say wait, get henna tattoos done until you've lost the weight so your tatt can also be a 'well done me' thing plus you'll get used to it before its permanent :) Of course it's completely up to you though.

As for wearing a strapless I'd think so but it depends on the bras you wear usually. If you have thin straps normally I'd say go strapless but if you have very thick straps with a lot of support then maybe not. Bra straps aren't supposed to be the support, the support should come from the band under your boobs so technically the straps should be fine but I don't know.

Sadly globalisation deleted the big contrast between the feature to consider beautifull a women in the differents countries.
So your question is hard to answer but i'll try.
In general our ''features'' of beauty came from the greek , athletic people , muscles and no obesity.
Here in Europe we always say that for people who like blonde girls these girls must be tall , blue eyes and very curvy , for people who like dark haired girls we say that spanish and italiaans girls are the hottest. Brown hair , Green or bright brown eyes , tall , and atletics.
I heard that in america girls must be curvy , blonde and ''fashion'' to be considered as hot girls (but this is just what i heard and saw , i don't live in US so i can't tell you the exact truth)
In north africa mostly in Morocco girls are considered hot when they decorate their hands with ''tattoos (not real one) ''
In Asia I think that the girl must look very innocent almost like a doll , and must be very educated.
Then you have to consider that there are thousand of suburban cultures who destroy this ''features'' and create new one , often ispired by tribal cultures (piercing, tattoos ecc)

Soon afterwards, he is invited to meet Henrik Vanger, the retired CEO of the Vanger Corporation, unaware that he had commissioned an investigation into Blomkvist's personal and professional history. This was carried out by Lisbeth Salander, a surveillance agent with Milton Security.
Blomkvist is promised considerable financial reward and solid evidence against Wennerström, in exchange for writing the Vanger family history. Vanger believes that his greatneice, Harriet, was murdered by a member of the family 36 years earlier. Blomkvist moves to the Vanger estate and becomes immersed in the history of Harriet's disappearance.
Salander, who was ruled legally incompetent as a child, is under the care of legal guardian Holger Palmgren, but he has a stroke. Her new guardian, Nils Bjurman, is a sadist who uses his position to sexually abuse her in return for access to her own money. After he rapes her, Salander takes her revenge by torturing him and threatening to ruin him unless he gives her full control of her finances.
Blomkvist discovers Salander has hacked into his computer, and persuades her to assist him with researching Harriet's disappearance. Together they uncover decades of buried evidence, and they begin to suspect that they are on the trail of a serial killer. Using her evidence, Blomkvist prints an exposé and book which ruins Wennerström and catapults Millennium to national prominence. What would be a good tattoo to get on the underside of both my wrist?

Q. My Idea : on my left wrist my son name 'Tyson' with a halo over the T. (He passed away after a day in '04) Then on my right wrist my girl name 'Tylen' with a princess crown over the T (she was born in '06 healthy)
My boyfriend, the father doesnt think its original enough. So what could I get to show my 2 kids and their position in my life?

I think it's a wonderful idea! I can even design them for you if you like. If you have any more children, I'm sure you could have them tattooed just above the others on your wrists, or on your ankles instead ^_^ I think it's a very original idea. Failing that, you could have them with angel and fairy wings, which could also represent that your poor Tyson has passed to the other side. I think it might be more artistic than a halo and crown? Maybe that's just me as I practice angel magic...

Not trashy at all; ESPECIALLY if there's a significant meaning. Take warning, though: EVERYONE who sees it will ask a lot of questions about it, so be prepared to be approached by a lot of strangers!

i dont like LOT of tattoos, just a few.
um i dont care really what the tattoo is, but i like them on the wrist/forearm part of either arm.

I don't like it when people have one or two small tattoos*, get big custom work or just don't bother.

Properly tattooed women are fantastic. My wife has her sleeves done.

One, significant, personal, piece is different to a f*cking dolphin/star/flower/bird/cherry blossom.

Hip? I think it'd be fine. Just don't get it in your belly and don't use pregnancy as an excuse to heavily overeat lol. You should get plenty of nutrition but some women go overboard and get really really fat.

I would do a tattoo on someone in the Pittsburgh Pa area if it is a quality image if you choose the flash, or I can pick something to do. I have done tattoos in the late 90's but had seven surgeries from a bad car crash, and am doing tattoos again.

Where can heavily tattooed women work?

For a long time now I've wanted a lot of tattoos including my chest area but I don't know what job will let you have tattoos and be able to show them, I was wanting to work in politics more like criminal side of it or something like that but I don't know if they will let you be heavily tattooed. If you know please let me know it would mean a lot to me.

Most quality jobs do not allow any visible tattoos.
You will find some fast food places, and retail stores, that allow small visible tattoos (as long as they're non offensive).

Of course, tattoo parlors allow you to have a lot of tattoos, and anything where you work for yourself.

There will be some "behind the scenes" jobs (which may be slightly better quality) that allow you to have tattoos, but you would usually be in a cubicle making calls or doing secretarial work.

Now then, you could go into a good office career with lots of tattoos, as long as the dress code either requires or allows you to wear long sleeves, etc.

Having something on your chest shouldn't affect your career opportunities much, as long as it can still be hidden in ordinary clothing (most uniforms have high necks, or button-up collars.

thats like saying "whats the name for a tattoo on your neck?" there is no name. people identified it as a tramp stamp because, no offense, usually sluts have it done. there isnt a name for it. lower back tattoo is probably the right way to identify it.

I found the perfect tattoo i love as a pic on Google but its a pic of a girl with the tattoo.....Ita clear like you can see it pretty well.... If i show the tattoo artist this on my phone,will they beable to make the same one for me?

Some artists will not do a straight copy. If you want a particular style; old school/traditional, new school, photo realism, bio, etc it is very important to find a local artist that does that style well. You want someone that is experienced with what you want. If you ask someone to go out of their comfort zone you may not get good results. I cannot stress this enough.
I do suggest finding the pic online and printing it out in a decent size if able. They will need time to draw out a transferable design. Again many artists will not do a copy out of respect to another artist or collector especially if it looks like a custom piece. They may want to make changes. All you can do is ask.

Sydest, Babe, go for it.

Anytime you find ink that marks a moment in your life and has that meaning to you...for whatever reason...do it. Besides the original meaning to you...it is always a reminder on what you were going through during a certain time and how you handled it....survived it...and learned from it. So do it and have the artist you find put more of your personality in it. That way it is way original.

Pinups are a throw back, very retro, and so cool if done by the right artist who is good at pinups. Search hard for that one artist that has a knack for pinups...I have seen some great ones and not so great ones. There are a lot of great artists out there...though some have specialities they like....blackwork, japanese influenced, fantasy, pinups....etc.

Would like to see a pic when its done...and have fun with it.

And when people who are lucky enough to see it ask what it means...tell em to go jump off a cliff. Cause it wont mean anything to them and it dont have to. They should appreciate the art for the art cause it aint on them.

Also pinup girls...on women are awesome...To be honest all the pinup girls I have seen inked...have been on women. I have never seen a pinup girl inked on a man...sure it happens...but it definately falls in that "suicide girls" (a social group), girl power sort of thing. Beyond cool!

I have seen some pin up type work done by the owner of a shop in my valley, Wenatchee, at The Ink Spot. He's good and easy to get along with so at least it's not impossibly boring. I am going back to his shop for my next tattoos. Good luck!
