How bad does a neck tattoo hurt?

tattoos for girls down the spine on Flower-tattoo-designs-for-girls
tattoos for girls down the spine image
Q. I am getting the chinese symbol for Destiny tattoo tonight on the back of my neck. However, I'm kinda nervous about the pain. My boyfriend recently got one on his neck and he said it didn't hurt. but then our friend got one on his neck and passed out but none of my girl friends have one there. I also have a tattoo on my lower back that goes up and down with my spine.

Answer
It depends on the person. My Leo insignia almost didn't hurt at all, and I have a low pain tolerance. My wrist, ankle, upper arm, and arm all hurt more. I plan to get my back done soon and will go in assuming that it will hurt slightly more than my neck.

Long story short: If you can handle the back (especially your spine), you can most likely handle the neck.

Why are lower back tattoos called tramp stamps?

kesey<3

I think its mean to label a girl because of a lower back tattoo. I mean yes, some are like really low and pretty much on the butt and have a slutty thing like a butterfly or something and get it on purpose to be slutty. But I really want one there but I don't want to be judged and called a whore just because of a tattoo. What are your opinions on this?

Answer
i have never heard of lower back tattoos being called tramp stamps. i think they look nice and i was going to get one my self but i dont wanna be like every1 else. so im going to get one going down my spine and stopping at the lower part of my back. it also depends on the person. slutty people get them there because it attracts the eyes of the opposit sex and usually they look lower than the tattoo itself. if you flant it then yes but if your sensable about it i dont see why you should be stamped with that name!!!

What is the underlying psychology behind the desire to get tattoo's?

tattoos for women tribal on Tribal Tattoos for Women10 | women style
tattoos for women tribal image

Gerbil

As tattoo's are painful, a little risky, and more or less permanent, I suspect there is some sort of insecurity/attention seeking psychology at work. What are your thoughts?

Answer
It's a matter of identification with a tribal mindset. Tattoo's have been with us forever it seems.
Right now it is a fad to extremes. It is cheaper and more efficient than in the past and the culture in society has opened the door to women as well. Although the art is very popular today I can't see it going on for more than a decade before the novelty of it all wears thin.
Too bad for the ones who mark their flesh these days. Many of them will regret it in their older years and some will pay a lot of money to get rid of them.
The problem is that the red ink used in tattooing cannot be eradicated without taking the flesh off. The rest of the inks can be laser cleaned.

What features are considered beautiful for women in europe, america, and asia?

Zu QingW

What features women have are considered pretty within their environment and people? Every race has beautiful women.
I am talking about modern days even though the past does influence people's perspectives

Answer
Sadly globalisation deleted the big contrast between the feature to consider beautifull a women in the differents countries.
So your question is hard to answer but i'll try.
In general our ''features'' of beauty came from the greek , athletic people , muscles and no obesity.
Here in Europe we always say that for people who like blonde girls these girls must be tall , blue eyes and very curvy , for people who like dark haired girls we say that spanish and italiaans girls are the hottest. Brown hair , Green or bright brown eyes , tall , and atletics.
I heard that in america girls must be curvy , blonde and ''fashion'' to be considered as hot girls (but this is just what i heard and saw , i don't live in US so i can't tell you the exact truth)
In north africa mostly in Morocco girls are considered hot when they decorate their hands with ''tattoos (not real one) ''
In Asia I think that the girl must look very innocent almost like a doll , and must be very educated.
Then you have to consider that there are thousand of suburban cultures who destroy this ''features'' and create new one , often ispired by tribal cultures (piercing, tattoos ecc)

Did people have tongue piercings in the 1940s? How common were they?

Q. Simply put, I'd like to know if tongue piercing was done in the 1940s, and just how common it was. Was it more common in men or women? How were people with tongue piercings viewed in that time period, and is there a website where I can find this information?
I'm talking about people in Western society, by the way. Britain, the United States, Australia, etc. I realise that tongue piercing has been practiced by the Aztecs and several other cultures long before the 1900s.

Answer
No. In the 1920's30's there was a craze/fad of burning pictues/patterns on one's skin with heat/tanning lamps, and tattoos have always been around...but even tattoos have only recently in modern advanced societies become widely acceptable. For most of the 20th century in the USA, for example, tattoos were confined to the shadows ie. macho sailor/soldier type tattoos and subcultures - mostly prison-related... Only in very recent decades have tattoos have become widely acceptable. Piercings also have to be considered in the light of modern day antibiotics. I'd hate to risk a life threatening infection for the sake of a decorative piercing ...

I remember decades ago conducting clinical interviews, and if I encountered tattoos, it was usually an indication/sign of an antisocial personality...but now it's something common to soccer moms...
Personally, I have never gotten a tattoo, because - although I like them and wouldn't mind a beautiful illustration of pop art on my back - I am also sensative to how such things are viewed by various cultures. I'd hate to visit a foreign land and suddenly be seen as a criminal deviant on the basis of a tattoo. The same applies to piercings... I hate the idea of catching/snagging a bull-nosed piercing on a string or fishing line and being dragged off into sme h4llish oblivion. Scratch one's nails across the proverbial blackboard; it gives me the same shivering discomfort of mind as does some terrible body piercing.

Body piercing and tattooing is very old and goes off into the depths of prehistory... They were used as art, identification of tribal/clan affiliations, religion... and I do not wish to glorify these practices, because they were not always harmless practices... I found a finger joint bone under a rock overhang here where I live in Alabama; it was about 2000 years old. The finger joint bone was deliberatly sliced off by a native... Some Plains Natives in North America did the same thing...to the point that it was said some natives could barely draw a bow string because they had sliced off so many finger joints. Why? Well, 2000 years ago it was likely a mark of bravery ie. if you met me and I was missing a few finger joints, it showed that I was a tough warrior and hunter - an experiened 'cool' fellow. It might also have originated as a kind of religious sacrifice to beome a better hunter...in times of food scarcity...

Vikings carved their teeth and painted/inlaid the enamel and practiced body art. Skull warping among various tribes all over the world has been practiced to artificially slope the foreheads to show 'nobility' has been practiced. Thank God, I don't see it now in modern times... Necks have been articially extended/manipulated. The Chinese practice of crippling womens feet was once common. Male circumcision remains the most common and unnecessary form of body mutilation.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. I prefer all my fingers, no piercings, and a clean body slate. It;s a hard world to get through without being scathed...

Anyone know of any open back dresses?

Danielle

I have a tattoo on my middle back. Below the bra line but above the pant line, and I'd like to buy an open back dress that shows it off. I've been looking but I haven't really found anything yet, anyone know of any?
I've found open back dresses, but none low enough to show off my tattoo

Can I dye the top of my hair a dark chocolate brown and ombre the bottoms in one sitting?

Casey

So I have ombre hair right now, but my natural hair color is a light blondish brown color so it goes from that color into a blonde color for the ombre. I think it's good for right now for the summer, but fall is slowly coming up and I want to change it. I want to keep the ombre but I want all of my hair aside from the ends to be a darkish chocolate brown color and then still have the blonde bits at the end for ombre. So my really question is, is can I get JUST my hair BESIDES the ends dyed?

Answer
Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. They call that look ombre hair color â darker roots, lighter ends â but colorists sees that fading. Women are wanting dimensional color with natural highlights that look like they've been playing out in the sun.

"Ombre is the number one poorly done color in this country! It takes a lot of blending and finesse to look natural. The key is to highlight the whole head, then deepen just the roots. Unfortunately, a lot of the ombre I see today is bad - I'm ready for that to be retired! Dye should make hair look expensive and chic. Otherwise, what's the point?" ~ Harry Josh, Hollywood's top hairstylist, who have given Gisele ombre color for 13 years.

London, Feb 20, 2013 I've been saying that since 2009.
Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 36 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <â¨

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time. Skin specialist Najjia Ashraf reveals that there are barely any dyes that donât contain this toxin; even the ones who claim they donât, are not being honest. âBig brands often escape the blame by suggesting they are ammonia-free. However, ammonia and PPD are two very different things and PPD is present in nearly every dye because it is what gives off the colour,â she explains.

Answer
Best At-Home Haircolor
L'Oreal & Clairol, have been tested by women of all ages, and approved & recently published by the Good Housekeeping magazine for July or Aug. 2011, I can't remember which magazine issue I read from my doctor's office. Google it

There's a reason why those two have been around for over 5 decades. They've formulated their ingredients and improved it since then, don't you think?

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.
Example: "My hair is right about armpit length as it is, but I've severely damaged it by bleaching it all at once. As a student of cosmetology myself, I would have to say that it was probably one of the worst mistakes I could have ever made."
Another example: ok i did my hair yesterday i DIDN'T bleach it ,but im not sure what its called but she took the color out of my hair and then dies it a blond color and my head was on fire it killed me so after that i hated my hair color so i colored it my self a darker color, it looked so ugly and it burned me again it rully hrt so after i washed it my mom checked it for me and found small spots of blood all over my top scalp like over 20 of em now im scared and don't know why its there is it from the color am i sick and something is wrong ??

NO BRAND is better than the other, no matter what brand, what color, even henna which is supposed to be more better, they are ALL CHEMICALS. Here's a new article I found re: henna, which is supposed to be better for you than reg. box dye. It's a good read! Google: Henna for Hair warnings.

Example of one who's hair is falling and stopped growing:
"my hair had been bleached many times and can't grow past a certain length
its also falling out . i stopped bleaching it.
i just need to add lenght! but if i can stop it from falling out..that be great too"

How do I gain my mom's trust back & how do I apologize to her?

tattoos for women tumblr on Tumblr Music Note Tattoos For Girls -1
tattoos for women tumblr image

Athena

A little over a month ago I was on tumblr and whatnot and I saw a girl with a side-shave. if you don't know what that is, it's when the side of your hair is shaved. I thought it was cool so I asked my mom if I could do it and my mother being the close-minded woman she is, said no. I honestly contemplated it over a series of weeks and I pulled my hair back several times to see what it would look like and I honestly really loved it. I shaved it off but the thing is, I did like under my hair so it's not obvious at all unless you pull my hair back. Today my mom saw it and she freaked out and started hitting me (not hard or anything) and screaming at me. I know I shouldn't have done it but my mom is one of the close-minded people that thinks they're always right and how you should never have tattoos, ears piercing, black nail polish is the devil's shit, and all that kind of bull. Then when we get home she starts screaming about how I probably do drugs and shit and I HAVE NEVER DONE DRUGS. Even though all of my friends do and they constantly me offer it, I always say no because I know disappointed my parents would be if they found out. I shaved the side of my head, so?!?!? It's hair right? It'll grow back. It's not like I went and smoked a bunch of weed and got arrested.
Now my mom is screaming at me and she won't even allow me to talk to her because every time I try to get a sentence out of my mouth, she starts screaming. I had plans to meet my favorite actor ever on friday and my mom knows how much this means to me because he's my favorite actor in the entire world and I finally scored tickets to meet him and my mom won't let me go now. It's honestly a bunch of bull and I just want to know how I can get her to forgive me and allow me to go? I'm 16 by the way and i kind of just read over this, I swear i'm not as bratty as this is making me seem. I'm all in all, a really good kid and I get good grades and this is probably the 2nd mistake i've made in my entire teenage years.

I honestly didn't think my mom would freak out this much about my hair and hasdifhaskdfh asd,. How do I apologize to her?

Thanks in advance!

Answer
Sounds just like my mom.

I know they might seem unreasonable sometimes, but you just have to stick through it for a few more years. You can have all the freedom you want when you turn 18, but as long as you're still a teenager you'd be wise to follow your parents' orders, no matter how stupid they may seem.

Life lesson aside, the best thing to do is calmly (and I really mean CALMLY) apologize to your mom, promise it'll never happen again, give her some sad sob story about how you just wanna talk to her normally again, and hope she forgives you. Trying to argue or reason with her will only make it worse for both of you.

Why do some say All American Muslim not accurate?

Taylor

I talk a little on tumblr with an American Muslim woman and she said the show is not accurate and she won't watch it. Just wondering the point of view of others.

And sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't sure where to put it.
I thought people would be mature enough to answer this without me asking them to but I guess not. stop judging. 9/11 wasn't because they were muslim. There are bad people in every religion. Grow up.

Answer
Oh my goodness, I watched like 10 minutes.

It was horrible!

The fat lady was exposing her leg up to the hip to show off a tattoo she had.

Her eyebrow and I think her nose were pierced. She didn't wear hijaab in any aspect--her sleeves were to her shoulder, her hair was exposed, her entire body was practically exposed. her parents didn't care, but her husband had to miraculously be Muslim. The man didn't even know what shahadah was!!! He blindly accepted Islam. He did no research himself.

They had dogs, too!

It was terrible, so so terrible!

GIRL WITH

obviously this question for people with tattoo sleeves, (esp. girls) -- half or full but how did you decide what elements/pictures were going to comprise your sleeve? ty.

Answer
Choose a theme of something you like, I'd suggest both color & black and grey (or one or the other, but have it even) and a mix between small and big images, and a space filler. I'm currently working on a full zombie sleeve. On my shoulder I have a hot pink and black Zombie face with a cupcake. below that I'll have a zombie bite mark, on the inside of my upper arm (owwie) I'll have a zombie girl with long flowing blue hair with a skull & crossbones, on my forearm I have a dead cow (actually a band logo that somewhat fits the theme, The Dead Milkmen) I'll also have a zombie pin up girl I drew myself, a zombie coming out of a grave (black & white), and as my filler throughout my whole arm, between the images will be a black & grey cemetery path with a few hands sticking out of graves. It's gonna be pretty sweet.

Hope my idea helps!

What are good ideas for a day of the dead tattoo sleeve?

Adolfo

So I want to get a day of the dead sleeve and so far i already got two skulls back to back to each other and the day of the dead girl on my shoulder. I was wondering if anyone else knows what I can put?

Answer
depending on how good your tattoo artist is, i'd ask them. day of the dead is a very popular genre in tattoos, they've probably seen and done alot of tattoos in relation to this. i would advise you ask them to help with completing your sleeve if they are skilled
a) the sleeve will blend very well and not look like a child's sticker book
b) they should bring to the table alot of new unique ideas that you may have never thought to look up

Nautical Stars? Girls with lower mid-back butterflies? Kanji when you're not Japanese?

Answer
- Back tattoos on girls (it's getting to the point where every girl has something tattooed right over the crack of her butt - it looks lame and kinda slutty)

- writing in kanji, kani or simplified Chinese characters on folks who don't know how to read either Japanese or Chinese (and do they REALLY KNOW what the tattoo says? for all they know, it might say 'this guy is extremely gay' or 'this girl will sleep with anybody for $ 5 dollars and a hamburger'!!!)

What is your opinion of low back tattoos?

randi s

Every guy I talk to says that if they see a girl with a 'tramp stamp' they know she's easy. I personally think that's ridiculous because obviously that's only a stereotype that may apply to some girls, but not all. I was just wondering if the general audience thinks that girls with low back tattoos are easy or if you think it's just a girl with a tattoo.

Answer
I think it's just a girl with a tattoo she wanted on her lower back. Unfortunately, the general population is rather stupid, so most do feel that lower back tattoos are trashy.

Can you name three evil Women in our history?

Walks

Can you tell me why you think they rank as evil?

Answer
Note: I don't think Eva Braun was so much evil. She was simply a very misguided woman. Think of Nancy Spurgeon to Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols, but less of an influence on Hitler than Nancy was on Sid. They were alike because they were a "groupie" of a man and social climbers. It's worth noting that Eva was actually, more often than not, unhappy in her "arrangement" relationship with Hitler (she wanted marriage, but he did not because he thought it would soften his image; she served mostly as arm candy and hostess at his villa). Her diary suggests as much as she tried to committ suicide quite often. He only married her just before committing suicide (as did Eva) because he knew Germany was lost, the Nazi party was doomed, and he wanted her to follow him in death.

Here is a list of other evil women in History:

1) Ilse Koch:
âDie Hexe von Buchenwaldâ the Witch of Buchenwald, or âBuchenwälder Schlampeâ the Bitch of Buchenwald was the wife of Karl Koch, commandant of the concentration camps Buchenwald from 1937 to 1941, and Majdanek from 1941 to 1943. Drunk on the absolute power rendered by her husband, she reveled in torture and obscenity. Infamous for her souvenirs; tattoos taken from the murdered inmates (she had a penchant for making these tattooed skins into lampshades), her reputation for debauchery was well earned (it was rumored she sexually assaulted women inmates). After building an indoor sports arena in 1940, with 250,000 marks stolen from inmates, Ilsa was promoted to Oberaufseherin or âchief overseerâ of the few female guards at Buchenwald. She committed suicide by hanging herself at Aichach womenâs prison on September 1, 1967.

2) Queen Mary I Born: 1516; Died: 1558
Mary was the only child of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon to live past infancy. Crowned after the death of Edward VI and the removal of The Nine Days Queen-Lady Jane Grey, Mary is chiefly remembered for temporarily and violently returning England to Catholicism. Many prominent Protestants were executed for their beliefs leading to the moniker âBloody Maryâ. Fearing the gallows a further 800 Protestants left the country, unable to return until her death.

3)Tz'u-hsi (also spelled Hsiao-Ch'in or Hsien Huang-Huo or Cixi, also known as the Dowager Princess)
Was a one of Hsien-feng (Xianfeng)'s whores. Had his only son. Her master died and she became a regent for the boy. She had her son killed the before he became of age, then violated the normal succession and had her three year old nephew named the new heir. Soon after that she was made the ruler of China, when her nephew's mother died.
Tzu-Hsi lived in extravagance; she squandered money on banquets, jewels, and other luxuries. She used funds earmarked for the navy to build herself a lavish summer palace. (The lack of military funds contributed to China's defeat in the 1894 Sino-Japanese war.) At the end of her life, her personal jewelry vault held 3,000 ebony boxes of jewels, and she was buried in diamonds.
She commanded the violently anti-foreign secret society "The Boxers" to attack foreign legations in Peking; this siege lasted eight weeks. In return, a mixed foreign force of 19,000 troops battered its way in and captured Peking. Peking was looted, many Chinese people were tortured, raped and killed. Tzu-Hsi fled to Sian. Before fleeing, Tzu-Hsi summoned the emperor's concubines and told them to stay behind. One of them begged to be allowed to accompany the emperor. "Throw this despicable minion down the well!" She ordered the guards. The order was carried-out.
Worked with the military and conservative forces to stage a coup and take power again as active regent, confining her own nephew to his palace. Later as she on her death bed, though old age, she had her nephew poisoned to death.

Anyone good at designing Tattoos and for free?

tattoos for girls with names image

Crazy Mama

I think I have two pictures that are about what I want, but I need to combine them and add names. I have no artistic skills either by hand or by computer. If you can help please email me! Best tattoo gets the 10 points! Thanks so much! It is actually just a simple heart and double banner (two of them) that I want to put my girls' names into and their birth date.
I already have the tattoo pictures I just need the names added to them so I can see what it might be like.

Answer
You know who are good at designing tattoos? Tattoo artists. I highly doubt anyone here will know what will work as a tattoo and what won't. Besides the tattoo artists, who probably won't draw your stuff for free. Take your two pictures to a tattoo artist and have them sketch something up. Hearts and banners are super simple, it shouldn't be too challenging for them...

I would like to know if someone can make me a tattoo design?

missy

I would like a tattoo design made with my girls names MARIAH and GABRIELLA and I would like it to say MOMMY'S PRINCESSES and have a tiara or something. PLEASE send me and Designs. THANK YOU!

Answer
Go to a tattoo artist. That's their job. They're gonna be able to come up with a better design than any amateur here would.

How many tattoos are too many on a girl? Should i get another one?

tattoos for girls vines image
Q. I already have a tattoo of a floral vine that wraps up my foot and behind my ankle and one on my bikini line of a tribal butterfly. SInce they are addictive im thinking of getting a 3rd one on the back of my neck below the hairline. BUT i don't want to be the"tattoo girl". At what point do they go from being tasteful to unattractive?

Answer
At what point do they go from being tasteful to unattractive? It all depends on the types of tattoos and the confidence of the person. I remember seeing two girls one day both with full arm tattoos. The first girl I saw in the morning had a full sleeve and swallows on each shoulder (tank top shirt). The way she carried herself and the beautiful coloring of all her tattoos made it look AMAZING!! Meanwhile the girl I saw in the afternoon also had a full sleeve, but her tattoo was a weird naked woman with poems written out on her arm, she noticed I kept staring at her arm and told me not to read her arms (my expression was ??). So to recap my little tale, get as MANY and as COLORFUL as long as you are confident and proud of them all.

How much would it cost to get a glow in the dark tattoo?

Q. To see the tattoo go to google images and type in 'vine tattoo'. Its the first one. Its on the side of this girls back. Its the one i want to get, but i want it in glow in the dark. How much would it cost to get it in glow in the dark?

Answer
There is no such thing as a glow in the dark tattoo. It glows under UV light not in the plain dark. The ink is not FDA approved so it would be stupid to get one. They don't know what health problems it can cause.Get a tattoo in white ink if you don't want it very visible.

They will fade from the sun, from washing your hair, and from using conditioner on your hair or hot water.

A year later the European Commission banned 22 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <â¨

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. what are some really good books that a teenage girl would enjoy?

tattoos for girls with eating disorders on Tattoo Ideas Quotes Addiction Sobriety And Recovery Kootation
tattoos for girls with eating disorders image
Q. Im trying to find something to read, that i actually like... Pls help. Thanks

Answer
If you're a young teen, like 6-9th grade I advise a book by Tamora Pierce called 'First Test'. The story is about Kelandry of Mindelan who is a young noble woman (11 years old) who wants to become a knight and follow in the footsteps of Sir Alanna, who was the first lady knight and got her shield 10 years ago. Kel is grudgingly allowed to train, but is on probation for her first year. The story follows her as she struggles to train her body to be as strong as the boys, and to survive the torment of her more conservative fellow pages who want her to leave and use crude, cruel methods to try and force her out. She's a strong girl who has a tight reign on her emotions and is very determined. Personally, I loved all of the Tamora Pierce books, but you should google it and read a summary for yourself.

Of course, if you haven't read Harry Potter, I highly advise that. Twilight also seems very popular, hough I admit I haven't read it myself. Lord of the Rings is also well loved. "Bat Code Tattoo" by Suzanne Weyn is a futuristic Fantasy that involves government corruption, and mass loss of identity. The main character is trying to escape that and it leads to a very interesting adventure.

The Redwall series were ones I enjoyed in elementary, but if you're in middle-school I'd still advise them. They're about personified animals who live in settlements that are very medieval. Anything by Avi is also good.

If you want a more realistic, slightly darker story, "Lush" by Natasha Friend is about a girl with an alcoholic father and "Perfect" (also by Natasha Friend) is about a girl suffering from an eating disorder. "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson is very emotional and about a girl with a problem that's only revealed halfway through the book. She struggles with herself and intense emotions throughout the novel. Having lost her friends after calling the cops to bust a end-of-summer party, she lives through school totally on her own. As she struggles with what happened that night, she doesn't speak, thus where the book got it's name. "Fat Chance" by Leslea Newman is about a girl suffering from bulimia and "Alt Ed" involves a bullied, overweight girl who's put into an alternative education class with a few other students as an alternative to being expelled. Very fascinating.

With a different type of struggle, "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoulty is told by multiple character, a different one narrating each chapter and gives a uniquely personal and in-depth view on how cancer affects a family. It was really moving to me and I highly recommend it, but it was very sad.

Back to fantasy, "Sabriel" by Garth Nix, is the first of a triplet and is very fascinating in it's complex magic that involves the dead and bells. Although the details are slightly fuzzy now, I know my friends and I fell in love with the books in Middle School, and even if you're older, it might be fun to check it out. They were very well written.

"DragonSong" by Anne McCaffrey is the first of a series and I loved the idea. Set in another world, a simple girl with a big personality and love of music finds herself up against her strict, conservative and slightly cruel father who bans her from singing or playing instruments. Running from home, she makes herself a home in a cave where she befriends 9 fire lizards and teaches them to sing. Though it sounds strange, you may enjoy it.

"Uglies", but Scott Westerfield were a fun read. It's futuristic and quite popular. I think there are four in the series now, however I only read the first two.

If you're older, like in high school, I advise "Huckleberry Fin", which was a class requirement but also a really great read. Also "Catcher in the Rye" and "Siddartha" Those should all be easy to find because they're classics.

"Fahrenheit 451" is also a classic and deals with burning books, government corruption, and uncaring, materialistic, sheep-like humans. "1984" is similar, but a totally different style. I loved both.

"Animal Farm" is basically a huge comment about governments written in a fun way involving personified humans. "Of Mice in Men" is short and an easy read, but it's very emotional. It involves a mentally challenged character and his companion. Very small character cast and only about 100 pages long, but very meaningful. It's also a classic.

For fantasy, I liked "Blood Bound" by Patricia Briggs, who's an adult author and provides a more mature look on a fun subject of werewolf's, humans, fae, and vampires. The main character is a strong headed girl named Mercy Thompson who is a mechanic. She's actually not one of the creatures previously mentioned. She's a shape-shifter, and can turn into a coyote. The first book deals with vampire troubles, Iron kissed deals with Fae and Moon Called deals with werewolves. I found all very fascinating and captivating.

I hope this list helps you out!

What's your life like right now with social anxiety/agoraphobia?

Gone

Are you in school? Able to work? How old are you and how long have you been afflicted?

Well, I have been living with social anxiety disorder and depression since I was fourteen, and I became a housebound agoraphobic around sixteen. All of this prevented me from graduating high school. I did not want to attend a public school because of my anxiety and the online school I went through was basically just taking my mother's money and I wasn't learning anything and when it came down to returning to public school a year behind or just dropping out, I chose the latter. I have put off obtaining my GED for a year now because I need a state ID (Never got my permit or driver's license) in order to take the test and that requires me to take a picture which I am deathly afraid of.

Also, I have what some they call 'comfort zones'. If I am to be outside of the house, I can only go to certain places which for me are the local library, grocery store/walgreens a block away, and perhaps the nearest mcdonald's if I am accompanied by my mother or brother and I have to stay in the car while they go inside or we go through the drivethru. So going to the DMV for my state ID poses a serious problem because it's far away in the next city and I get very anxious/stressed after being in the car for too long.

Death is what comprises the bulk of my thoughts throughout the day and I often contemplate taking my life. However, my anxiety prevents me from doing this in so many ways. First of all, I had a religious upbringing and even though I am not religious anymore, those beliefs my mother instilled in me from such a young age haunt me whenever I find myself looking at a bottle of pills or knife. I worry that I will receive a horrible punishment for taking my life, and that the consequence will exceed the pain I am in now. Then there's the emotional and financial burden I would be imposing on my family. After a tough past three years, my mother's just now getting back on her feet and I already feel EXTREMELY guilty for being 18 without a diploma or job living in her house and not being able to support myself. That is enough for me to want to slit my throat. I wish I wasn't such a burden on her. Sometimes I will go a day or two without eating because I feel like I'm just sitting at home eating up the food (even though I am petite and don't eat nearly as much as my other siblings) and being a bum even though all I want is to change my life and get better. Whenever she asks me if I want something from the mall or store, I say no. There have been times when I have gone without necessities because I could not bear the thought of her spending money on me.

I have yet to see a professional because A) that requires leaving the house for an extended period of time and B) in order to actually be referred to a psychiatrist, I would have to see my family's physician first and I do not like her. The first time I saw her was for my 16 yr old physical and she asked me questions about my social life and my answers were pathetic and when she asked if I had any friends, I sort of mumbled that they were out of state (we had to just moved) and she made this face that made me want to burst into tears and scratch my face. It was basically a YOU'RE PATHETIC face and it hurt me. I mean she's supposed to be a doctor. Anyways, it doesn't help that a year later I had to expose my breasts to this woman for a breast exam after finding what would later be classified as a benign lump in my chest. So yes, this is a huge obstacle in me getting help.

In the past, during the first two years of my affliction, I would easily make myself feel better by thinking about the future (back when graduating and going to university were still attainable realities) and fantasizing about when I got my life together. But now, I fear I am too far gone. Even if I should remedy my life enough so that I may go to school, secure employment, and be able to leave the house to get the newspaper without checking out the blinds fifty times, the damage has been done. I have never been in a relationship, and I don't think I will ever be secure enough with myself to be in one. I have lost so many relationships, including the ones with my father and half sister. My half sister told me a few months ago, during a brief texting phase (my anxiety extends to the telephone, I can't even order pizza) after having not spoken to her in nearly two years, that she hated me and after that I never replied and just sat in my closet and rocked myself into oblivion.

If you had asked me 5 yrs ago, I would have wanted marriage, children, and to travel the world. These days, I do not believe in marriage, I will not be bringing anything into this world, and traveling for me is when my neighbors aren't home and I am able to go in my backyard and feel the wind.
@Becca, We must be the same person. I have been sitting here for five minutes trying to formulate some sort of response, but I am seriously taken back. I have never had someone describe their life so closely to mine. It's comforting to know I am not alone but it also sucks to know someone else is hurting.
@Kayla, I hear so much of my 16 yr old self in your words. I too pushed away all of my friends after I moved out of state. I wasn't in school or doing anything with myself because of my anxiety so eventually there became less and less to talk about. And I felt as if I were boring them so I stopped calling and writing emails. I deleted my facebook and they stopped reaching out to me. I will never forget how pathetic I felt at 16 when I told an old friend of mine I studying for my permit and she said she got hers a long time ago. I wanted to die. I never did get it or learn to drive. I hope things shape up for you. If
You two can email me whenever if you want. If you arent too anxious. I get like that when I write emails.

Answer
I'm not in school. I dropped out in 11th grade (last year)... I haven't seen anyone my age in over a year. I can't even go get my ged. I have to be 18 to get my license. That will be in 2 months and I already know I probably won't be able to do it.
I can't work. I'm too scared to ask for an application. I think about doing an interview or talking to customers & I'm sent into panic mode. The only thing I think I can even manage is a hotel maid or something. I'm 17 & i've had social anxiety my entire life. It's just continuously gotten worse, way worse. My depression started when I was around 13.

I have those comfort places too. I can't step foot in a mall. I can't go into 'my' town. I have to go to ones in the surrounfing cities, like 1 hour away, just so I will be kind of safe to not see anyone I know. And I only go out during school hours, so that I don't have to see anyone my age. I also don't like to go into shops where I think I will be intimidated by the people. Like tattoo shops or places where I would think pretty girls would be working. I sit in the car too when my mom or sister goes in to the fast food place or grocery store.

I think about death all the time too. One time when I was 14 I tried to overdose, but I accidently fell asleep on my side, so the puke didn't choke me. I have it planned out to work now, but I don't know if I have the guts anymore. I think of death and I tense up, almost have a panic attack. Just there being nothingness... And I know this is dumb but I think of how there will be so few people at my funeral and I can't stand it. I feel like it would be easier to kill myself if I didn't have my mom, sister and my brother. Now, I have my nephew on the way. I have to see his little face and hold him before I go.. I anm extrememly close with my mom and sister and I honeslty believe they would not be able to function properly if I were to kill myself. And I need my sister to be okay for her baby. And my mom needs to be here for my little brother. Plus, I think of how I hurt, and I Would NEVER want to make them hurt like this.

I saw my doctor because I couldn't take the panic attacks anymore. Whenever I get a panic attack it feels like I'm going to die a really painful slow death by suffocation..:/ I ended up crying the whole time talking to him & barely saying anything. He gave me xanax and prozac and sent me to a therapist. That therapist made me feel like complete shit. It was 3 months into seeing her when she blamed me being like this on my mom and I was out of there. It is not my moms fault. The prozac made me go even closer to killing myself. Doctor switched me to celexa. I haven't noticed ANY differene. I took 1/2 a xanax like he said. I still felt awful. I took a whole one, still felt awful. I took 1 & 1/2 and felt okay... Worked myself up to now when I go out I have to take 3 xanax.
Your doctor sounds terrible! She needs some bedside manners. You sound like me, I get so hurt by little things too. My doctor was really really really nice to me when I cried in front of him. He had this hurt look on his face like he felt bad for me and I was slightly comforted by that but at the same time I felt more embarassed.

When I was 14 I had my first boyfriend. I had sex with him then turned into a raging whore and had sex with everyone because I couldn't talk to any of the boys because of fear & a blank mind, but I could easily spread my legss, because that means, "I'm wanted & I don't have to talk right now, in this moment" -__- I used to only sneak out though at like 3 and 4 am because I wanted it to be dark when we had sex because i dint want them to see me. but I cant even do that anymore.

I can't talk on the phone either... I can only talk with my mom and sister and brother on the phone... I can't even talk to my grandma in person without feeling uncomfortable. :( I have cut off alot of my emotions. I was in the room when my grandpa died. I saw him die. I didn't even cry. I got in the shower and tried so hard to cry and I couldn't. And I loved him so much. That night I woke up from a dream of him with tears down my face.

I don't believe in marriage anymore either. I believe that all guys do is cheat. I can't bring a kid into this world either. I would not be a stable mother at all.

I think me and you are the same person.

3 star tattoos for girls image

sweetie

I see lot's of people with tattoos in the shapes of stars. what does this mean? Is it just a cuinsidence(however you spell that), that i see star shaped tattoos on anorexic girls alot? thanks:)

Answer
Hi,

Shooting star tattoos seem to be a popular form of tattoo. There are many different variations of shooting star tattoos. They can be incorporated into different tattoo styles and are usually tattooed on the arms, shoulders, ankles or abdomen.

Heres some groups of people who have them and why
****************************************************************
1) A lot of people seem to be getting them because they express their inner desire to be a star and they generally look cool especially on females! Perhaps its because pop culture feeds into this desire to be a star.

2) a brief fleeting moment in ones life just like the brief wonder of seeing a shooting star race across the night sky. They can also be a symbol of reaching ones ultimate destiny and are popular among stars of the Hollywood variety.

3) Some cultures have always had strong beliefs and superstitions in the meaning of shooting stars. Traditionally shooting stars also meant a new birth and changes in ones life and also a wish for a better life.

4) The lesbian and gay connection is the one that does not seem so obvious at first. Historically back in the 1940's and 50's when alternative lifestyles were not the norm and often women had to hide their alternative choices they would sport a hidden nautical star. Often they would get the star tattoo done on the inside of their wrist where it could easily be hidden by a watch during the day but shown off in the evening when out on the town. Today many lesbians where the nautical star tattoo to show their connection with their early pioneering sisters.

5) Punk rockers have also adopted this as a popular symbol to have tattooed. Punks have taken this symbol and it has very much the same meaning of finding one way in life. Being the rugged individualists type Punks are drawing to the symbolism of true north and finding one own unique way in life. So the Nautical star has become a symbol for this. You see many punk bands that have full sleeve tattoos typically incorporate nautical star tattoos either on their elbows or elsewhere.

6) Many military people get a nautical star tattoo as a symbol for finding ones path home safely. Of course this can also include more symbolically just finding ones way in life.

It just goes to show that when the same powerful symbol is used over and over again over decades of time it can taken on very different meanings for different groups. So all of those that you see sporting a nautical star tattoo might not all have the same interpretation of its symbolism. It all depends on the person.

Does a scrotum tattoo cause permanent damage to sperm production?

Jay S.

I lost a bet and have to have two girls names tattooed on either side of my balls. I have heard it doesn't hurt that much, however I was wondering if the tattoo causes long term damage to sperm production or damage to the testes themselves? Please list your sources (preferably a website, not wiki)

Answer
Don't take this the wrong way, but it is a little odd to ask for specific, (implicitly) highly verifiable information websites on such an unusual query, especially since it's due to losing a bet.

If you're looking for that, I wish you luck. I can't imagine anyone studying this. I can hypothesize, however.

Plenty of people in a time of war have suffered damage to their groin and been able to father children. A tattoo hardly counts as an injury; it's only slightly worse than a sunburn and arguably less. The tissue damage is confined to the epidermis & dermis, where'd you want it kept to minimize issues. The ink itself could possibly be a problem but is improbable; an allergy is the most likely, and still rare, possibility. You'd have to have a pretty extreme reaction in an already unlikely situation to have to worry.

You could also do bad aftercare, but I'm assuming it's the process you're curious about.

I suppose if you get a non-professional to do this, there are the usual concerns of cleanliness, but if you're planning that worries of testicular damage are rather out sync with other dangers.

For the record, I do know one professional who's done this. I was a little surprised since the person in question talked about other areas she wouldn't do. The artist spoke of no dangers, but without anyone to ask and query it's technically the opinion of just one person, albeit a professional.

Does anyone else think Jesse James is an idiot?

Super

I have nothing against tattoos on girls, but even her forehead is tatted. I am sure Jesse has made a few dollars in his days, but no where close to what Sandra made. Not to mention Sandra Bullock looks way better than whatever forehead tattooed girls name is.

a total idiot

How much would a tattoo cost to get removed?

I have a tribal band around my arm and I'm not into the tattoo thing as much any more.

Answer
Join the club.. I have one on my finger. its small. 1 and half inch long by 1/4 inch thick its costing me 1200 to remove by laser. Its going to take an average of 10 laser treatments. Its completely black. Good Luck to you. I called around first to see about free evaluations.

To remark on the girl below.. By laser removal, there is no mark that is left. Its when removed by other methods there is a mark. Skin abrasion removal leaves a scar. So far with the laser treatments (done in steps) there is no scaring!

Which hand and finger do the Wonder Twins wear their rings on?

Q. My twin brother and I want to get wonder twin ring tattoos but what's the fun in that if they are inaccurate?

Answer
Judging from this one cartoon http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=youtube+wonder+twins&mid=23FD699C91A34303E7F623FD699C91A34303E7F6&view=detail&FORM=VIRE1 the boy uses his right hand, the girl her left.

Edit: Just what the rings are supposed to look like is a mystery to me. This set of images http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=wonder+twins+rings&qpvt=wonder+twins+rings&FORM=IGRE#x0y7844 didn't help to clarify things, but I imagine this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Set-Wonder-Twins-Metal-Rings-exclusive-Jayna-Zan-DC-/110690162991?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c5a5d92f is what they'd look like.

I used to watch the Super-Friends as a kid in the 1970s, but I couldn't stand it. The tats seem like a cool idea, though.

Edit: Hard to say for sure which finger the rings go on. The cartoon above shows a close-up of the girl putting her left hand on her cheek, and guess what? No ring! However, since this is nominally a DC character ( the twins, created for the cartoon, never caught on the way later cartoon characters like Harlequin did) you can probably safely say they use the same finger that Green Lantern http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=green+lantern%27s+ring&id=7B1C090A8C155900FF203E17D9D4070DFDC5B43F&FORM=IQFRBA and the Flash http://www.themarysue.com/wp-content/uploads/gallery/10-greatest-ring-macguffins/the_flash_costume_ring.jpg do: the ring finger. You know, the one next to the index finger. Yeah, the long one.

What is a good tattoo to get behind my ear?

tattoos for girls flowers small on 10 Apr Unique Feet Tattoos Designs For LA Girls -3
tattoos for girls flowers small image

I want a small tattoo behind my ear not quiet sure what I want though?

Answer
No offense to Sam, but you probably shouldn't get a Chinese or Japanese symbol UNLESS you actually speak the language. Too many times the symbol is incorrect.

Flowers are always good. music note. A heart. A small bird. A leaf. Your star sign.

What kinds of things do you do in your free time? Do you like to write, play games, workout, ect?

Try and pick something that you can relate to, not something that is just pretty or cute.
I knew a girl who got a pineapple behind her ear. It seemed weird, but when asked she had a whole story behind it. Her parents were from Hawaii, and they would eat pineapples all the time. So for her the pineapple reminded her of how much she loved her family. Never would have guessed that from a pineapple tattoo! :D

Other than that, tattoos behind the ear are very cute and easy to hide if necessary.

When I say nostalgic tattoos what do you think of?

Throbbing

I'm designing an nostalgic tattoo sleeve and so far I have, a pin up girl for upper arm as the main piece, then for the rest of the sleeve I've got a cassette tape, the old style silver grate microphones, with maybe a lyric bannered around it, a phonograph and maybe a few playing cards.. What else can I put on the sleeve that will fit this theme!! I realise my suggestions were music based, but they don't have to be, was all I could think of

Answer
Nostalgic to me is things from the past that are super memorable, like grease comes to mind, and happy days, with the jukebox and glasses and leather jackets and all that.

what is a good tattoo for a violinist?

Maggie

I have played the violin for 15 years and want a tattoo related to this...any suggestions on what I should get? I am a college age girl.

Answer
heres mine:
http://b0.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/01489/00/25/1489265200_l.jpg

I had it done with more of a rustic drawing appearance because I'm in love with playing baroque era music. The artist matched the reddish brown hues of my violin perfectly

If you don't decide to get your instrument done, pick out a few bars from a piece you like to play. You could even combine both and get the measures scrolling around a violin. If you want the design to symbolize how you've grown as a musician through the years, you could get a smaller violin leaning on a bigger one.

I'm sure you have at least a couple of ideas going through your head. Write everything down and take it in with you when you go to get it done. If there are images you want for reference, bring those as well. Talking with the artist about what you want will help them draw up something that you will absolutely love.

Guys, what do you think of quote/word/statement tattoos on girls?

I'm getting a tattoo that says "Remember Forever" on my wrist and I have read (not to mention I also have a non-supportive friend) people saying that guys don't like girls with those kinds of tattoos.

I'm really just curious, and am getting the tattoo no matter what is said.

Also, if you like quote tattoos on girls, what is the 'best' place for the tattoo to go?

Answer
Please don't be insulted, but let me tell you the real truth. Quotes or "wise sayings" tattooed on your body are pretentious and mark you as an insecure person who is desperate for the approval of others. But you are trying to be worthy the wrong way. You can not make yourself worthy in the eyes of others by inking a philosophical saying into your living skin. You can only make yourself worthy in the eyes of others through your words and deeds. Having yourself tattooed marks you as a troubled individual with a rocky future ahead, not as some inspirational person.
Donât be fooled when you see some celebrity or entertainer with a tattoo. They are probably just an insecure mess on their road to self destruction. Look at Brittney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith or Amy Winehouse.
Wise up. Life is not a game. What you see on TV and on music videos are fantasy--fantasy life filtered through the consciousness of writers, musicians and producers - creative types who come from a Hollywood subculture filled with degradation and self indulgence. What they "teach" us through their art must be viewed suspiciously.

The true cost of a tattoo is a lifetime of regret. There is an 80% chance you will regret it in your lifetime. Many people will look at you with disgust, for tattoos are offensive to many, many people. Don't get tattooed. You will regret it. Tattoos are associated with mental illness and dysfunction. Peer-reviewed scientific studies conclude that tattooed and pierced people share characteristics with the following extremely undesirable groups of suffering and damaged people:
pickers
burners
head bangers
self cutters
self-injurers
dangerous risk takers
eating disorders
self-haters
substance abuser
depressed
socially alienated
âIn 1999 The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry listed tattooing and 'excessive piercing' along with picking, burning, head-banging and cutting as forms of self-injury. In The Journal of Psychosomatic Research (2006, volume 6, issue 4), Adolescence (2002, volume 37, issue 147), The Journal of Adolescent Health (2005, volume 36, issue 4), Deviant Behavior (2009, volume 30, issue 6) and Pediatrics (2002, volume 109, issue 60), tattooing and body piercing are associated with dangerous and sometimes lethal risk-taking behavior, eating disorders, self-loathing, substance abuse, depression and social alienation.â
Which of these groups are you a member of? If none, then please rethink your intention to get tattooed. Why would you want to advertise yourself to others as one of these hurting groups? Even if you are, do not embrace your disease-- resist! Avoid hurting yourselfâdonât get any tattoo.
Here's more alone these lines:
Tattoos and Mental Disorders:
âResearch conducted by Dr. William Cardasis at the Michigan Centre For Forensic Psychiatry reviewed the cases of patients who were considered unfit to stand trial or who were judged to be insane and found that a majority had both signs of ASPD and a strong tendency to be tattooed. Along with a strong lack of emotions, histories of mental and physical abuse and deviant behaviors, Cardasis found that almost three-quarters of his study group was tattooed. The patients who had a greater number of tattoos, who had a greater percentage of their body surface tattooed and who wore tattoos in more visible places were all found to exhibit more aggression and to be engaging in behaviors such as cheating, lying or stealing.â
This research about tattoos and personality was recently published in the journal Personality and Mental Health.
"Our findings suggest that forensic psychiatric inpatients with tattoos are significantly more likely to suffer from antisocial personality disorder than those without tattoos, and patients with antisocial personality disorder were also significantly more likely to have higher numbers of tattoos, a larger percentage of their body covered with tattoos, and tended to have tattoos in more visible locations" said lead researcher Dr. William Cardasis.
Student with tattoos Less Successful that Non Tattooed Counterparts
âA study by Glasgow's Strathcylde University shows that that students with tattoos have weaker study skills than their non-inked counterparts.â
Study Links âBody Artâ and Criminal Behavior
LUBBOCK, Texas, January 14, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A new study titled "Body Art, Deviance, and American College Students" suggests that people who have multiple tattoos or body piercings are more likely to engage in risky and criminal behavior. The research by Jerome R. Koch, a sociology professor at Texas Tech University, reveals that those who have four or more tattoos, seven or more body piercings, or one "intimate piercing," are far more prone to use illegal drugs, be arrested for criminal offenses, cheat on college work, binge drink, and have multiple sex partners.
