Why do so many Christians seem to shun the extreme?

I'm a Christian and so is my husband. We have piercings and tattoos. We also love going to metal shows. Something we have both experienced in the past is being shunned or turned away by other fellow Christians for being different. For example most Christians both men and women alike tend to be a little on the normal looking side. They wear preppy name brand clothes and listen to mostly contemporary music. I was a member of this Christian dating service before I met my husband. Most of the men didn't care for the fact that I liked hard music, had a few small tattoos and a couple of little piercings. I guess they were looking for a cookie cutter image of themselves. Another example is my husband's step mom told him that his type of music might scare a nice Christian girl away. I guess my point is, why do so many Christians seem to think that just because someone might look a little unique or listen and like things a little unique, they don't fit the typical mold of what a Christian is? I mean really, what does a Christian look like? And what's wrong with punk type hair, dressing a little funky and few body modifications?
And for those who say Christians shouldn't look that way. Many Christian rock and metal bands look extreme. What's the difference?

Answer
1. normally the more intellectual and open minded don't stay christians.
2. but yea, looks or style doesn't dictate your belief in superstition or your choice of a particular fantasy belief system...

How do Americans view Japanese?

jenniferar

Japanese view americans like celebs... I was wondering how it was on the other side.
thank you everyone you were all very inciteful and informative. and Bryan i am responding by saying i agree about the whole korea surpassing japan in the entertainmant category. i had lived in south korea for two years and love their music. they are working very hard to be at the top.

Answer
Japan has historically always been the cool asian place. They made all the good video games and anime was everywhere when I was a teenager. I'm 20 now, but Japan seems to have lost its prominence. Korea is kinda beating it right now, culturally. Japanese gaming hasn't really gone anywhere new, while western games are the trend here now. The new generation of anime kids are into K-Pop now. They're not listening to Ayu and Namie like I was, but they're SONEs and love SuJu.

But we see Japanese people like other East Asians: diligent workers but leaning toward robotic. The average American doesn't really distinguish between different countries in Asia. We'd just think you're Chinese if you don't clarify. We don't understand certain Japanese things like Love Hotels and Hosts and the complicated toilets and why everything is so kawaii, therefore we think you are weird. We also kinda think you all look the same, because the population is so homogenous. America has varieties in race, while Japan is at least 95% Japanese at any given time. Also we tend to think ya'll lack social skills due to the discipline that you have, that our culture doesn't hold as high.

The language sounds a lot nicer to our ears than Korean or Chinese. However, its still way too hard. We love kanji though, even if we can't read it. A lot of Americans have tattoos with them. Nicki Minaj has one and I doubt she knows what it says. American women are also surprised at how Japanese women age well.

Overall, Japan is thought of as interesting and unique and an American will think its one of the better countries to be from. If you do read this, I'd like a response.

Check out scars in pictures on my myspace page at myspace.com/traytheone?I had my leg sewn back on and was disfigured.Dos these scars make you sick?Could you date someone disfigured as this?I am in the middle of changing this site to tell my story.

Answer
First of all, you get +1,000,000 for the zipper tattoo...that is simply spectacular.

Secondly, your scars don't make me sick. Then again, I do work in the Emergency Room and have an iron stomach...but here's the real deal:

Any woman who is willing to let something as superficial as a scar (however bad or disfiguring) keep them from getting to know you and hear the story behind your scar isn't worth knowing. Crappy thing is, those people are out there, and I'm sure you've come across your fair share...and will undoubtedly come across more. What YOU need to do is not let your scars define you.

One of my dearest friends was born with no spine from the waist down, and no bones in his legs. He walks around on his hands faster than I can run on two legs. When we go out, girls ask him what happened. His response? "My Mom stuck me in a blender." He doesn't care...he jokes about it all the time...and the girls are ALL OVER HIM!

Confidence makes you attractive. I know you've got it in you, because getting a tat that fierce takes some brass ones!! Celebrate what makes you YOU. Look back on what you've done to get this far and be proud of yourself. Women are looking for a good guy...scars or not. If you can fit that bill, you'll be fine.

And, for the record, I've got four big drill holes in my head from having brain surgery...so I know what you're going through. Two of them are in my forehead. I use it as a conversation starter. :)

Why is it that guys are taking/doing all the things that use to be girls only? I saw a guy the other day with bleached blond long hair (in a pony tail)hair, a nose ring (a small sparkly stud), a huge star tattoo on his foot (like tons of pink and purple stars) and he had his cartilage pierced. What is going on?

Answer
There is nothing to be ashamed of anymore

I have a very classic look to me, but have 5 tattos and want more. Will it take away from my classic look?

ANMeCUM

My current tattoos are on my foot, neck, rist and inner lip. I want two more. I want 3 black and pink nautical stars running down the back of my calfs, and a rib cage of hibiscious flowers. Will they take away from my classic looking face and way of dress? Do you think a classy girl with tattoos can still be attractive?

Answer
Yes, it will take away from classic beauty, which should be unadorned.

dry brittle hair from bleaching. is it best to cut it?

MandaPanda

i have naturally very dark brown hair. well, unfortunately i decided to bleach my hair and dye it lighter. it turned orange and i dyed it a brown color which didnt really cover it up so i dyed it a darker brown which worked. but, since i bleached and dyed it in the same day, my hair is fried. i have the victoria beckham bob right now. the rest of the hair seems fine but the very front ends are VERY dry. a piece broke off when i was straightening it and the front of hair is stiff cause its so dry. i've done the hot olive oil treatment and it seemed to help with the frizziness on the top but the ends (mainly front) are so brittle. could i save my hair by doing the hask protein hair repair treatment? or would it be best to get a trim?

Answer
You've got more chemicals there than I have in a year. Hair that you see now? It's dead. ~ Wikipedia. Trying to save hair that is dead, no, it can't be saved, even if you cut it. It takes years & years for hair to become healthy again.

Hair products are NOT made of glue to fix, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged, or hair loss, or make them grow . . . . they are a trillion dollar business. They also do NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss caused by heat & chemicals - hair's worst enemies. Meaning, it does very little benefits to the hair.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. I had part of my hair blue but I want to find different dye. I used something from hot topic a while back and that faded really fast and then really recently I used splat and that stayed in for a long time but for a few days after I did it I couldn't touch my hair without it dying my hands blue. Is there a better dye?

Answer
YOU never touch chemicals with your hands. Home dye kits COMES WITH: directions, gloves, and all the formula to mix your dyes with, and a toner. Also, inside the formula are already pre-mixed shampoo, that also cleans your hair @ the same time.
Best At-Home Haircolor
L'Oreal & Clairol, have been tested by women of all ages, and approved & recently published by the Good Housekeeping magazine for July or Aug. 2011, I can't remember which magazine issue I read from my doctor's office. Google it

best tattoos for girls 2012 image
Q. I seem to have fallen in love with book that revolve around a different kind of world that we live in.

The Hunger Games, Uglies, Pretties, Specials, The Bar Code Tattoo, etc.

if anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them! I have yet read Extras, Catching Fire, Mocking Jay, The Bar Code Rebellion, and The Bar Code Prophecy.

Answer
These are my favorite dystopians that you didn't mention.

The Shore of Monsters by David J. Nix â 2011. Five generations earlier, a horde of monsters nearly obliterated humanity. All males are dead or ruined by a monster plague; words like 'father' and 'romance' have lost meaning. When teenager Sky joins an expedition to the shore that falls apart, she must survive amongst the monsters that roam the ruins. She gets unexpected help from a very surprising source. Mystery, action, and romance follow!

Blood Red Road (Dustlands Series) by Moira Young â 2012. In a post-apocalyptic future, 18-year-old Sabaâs twin brother is stolen by black-clad riders. When tough-as-nails Saba launches a relentless search to recover him, she must fight for her life in gladiator cages, overcome enemies both creature and human, and learn to trust others for the first time. And try as she might, she canât help but fall for the charming scoundrel Jack, who just may understand her more than she knows.

Divergent by Veronica Roth â 2011. In a future dystopian Chicago, each 16-year old must choose to belong one of five factions, each of which represents a dominant personality trait. For most the choice is easy â simply follow the results an aptitude test. For Beatrice, however, the choice is not simple. Her test indicates three aptitudes. In addition to complicating her life, this fact makes her dangerous to the community for reasons she does not know. What she decides promises to put her in danger, and possibly tilt the entire balance of society.

Enclave by Ann Aguirre â 2011. In a shattered, post-apocalyptic world, 15-year old Deuceâs dream has come true. She has been named a Huntress, trusted by her community to brave the world outside of the sheltering tunnels and the threat of monstrous Freaks to bring meet to the tribe. The assignment is complicated by her pairing with the rebellious and handsome Fade, and a realization that the Freaks are growing more organized and cunning. Deuce and Fade must convince the tribal Elders of the imminent danger before it is too late.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan â 2010. Seven generations have passed since the Return, a plague that reanimates dead humans into creatures that feed on the living. Teenager Mary lives inside one of the last enclaves of uninfected, protected by a chain link fence that surrounds her village. When the fence is breached, Mary flees the village with a small band of survivors. Their flight toward an uncertain salvation is both harrowing and revealing, as they try to determine if they are humanityâs last hope.

Incarceron by Catherine Fisher â 2007. Incarceron is a prison so vast that it is self-sustaining. Generations of prisoners are born inside, doomed to a life in prison. The novel weaves two story lines: that of 17-year old Finn, who hopes to become only the second person to break out of the prison, and Claudia, the warden's daughter who hopes to escape an arranged marriage. When each discovers a crystal key, they find that they can communicate through the devices, and pledge to help one another. The story lines merge in a fantastic twist you wonât see coming.

Maze Runner by James Dashner - 2009. When Thomas arrives in the Glade, he remembers nothing but his name, just like the dozens of other teen boys who arrived before him. The Glade, which is surrounded by an impenetrable maze, is closed at night to guard against the creatures that roam the darkness, but open for exploration during the day. Getting caught outside at night is certain death. As the boys try to unravel the mystery of their existence, a complication occurs: the first girl arrives in the Glade. More importantly, she has a connection with Thomas and a message that may determine the fate of all the Glade's inhabitants.

Shipbreaker by Paolo Bacigalupi â 2010. In a near future of rising seas, no oil, and extreme poverty, a teenager works as a shipbreaker - one who salvages rusting ships for parts. When he finds a wrecked super-yacht after a storm, he thinks his days of poverty are over. However, he gets swept into an adventure when bad people come for the one survivor of the wreck - a rich, beautiful girl who owns the vessel.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman - 2009. In post-war future, the abortion debate has been solved through compromise. Parents may elect to have their teenage children "unwound", a process where the teens organs and body parts are harvested for others. The story follows three runaway Unwinds, each discarded for behavior, religious, or economic reasons. As the trio embarks on a harrowing journey of escape, the reader will ponder very heavy moral questions, and wrestle with how much a bad decision can affect future generations. This is a masterpiece on every level!

Which How I Met Your Mother episode is this scene from?

me.

I remember this scene from HIMYM, but I don't remember which episode it's from! But Barney is talking about how the later into the night it gets, the easier it gets to get laid. And they showed him talking to a chick 3 different times, and by the last time he just sent her a text that said "?" and she replied by "!" I wanna show the clip to my friend because she wants to get an exclamation mark tattoo. Haha thanks!

Answer
"Do I Know You?", Season 4, Episode 1.

Barney: On a booty call you barely even have to talk. At 9:00PM you say, "Hey, babe, it's Barney. Are you busy tonight?" (girl answers) "Sweet, see you in a half an hour, can't wait." But the later it gets, the fewer words you need. "Barney! Busy? Sweet." And by 3:00 in the morning (Barney texts "?" random girl answers "!")

I have one tattoo on my upper left back but I want another one that wouldn't look right as a tramp stamp and I don't want one on my back. But where else would one be easy to hide from my parents?? And please don't try to tell me I should tell them or just wait till I move out. That's not what I am asking. Thanks ahead of time:)))

Answer
anywhere under your clothes,, like your hip or your chest.
i have one on my hand that my parents don't know about! i did it myself, and my parents haven't said a thing. They just think it's a drawing with pen or something, but they're used to me drawing all over myself anyway.

What would you think of a girl with a tattoo of a staffordshire bull terrier?

Q. Theyre like me, may not be th most gorgeous n got a bad rep but when you get down to it theyre dead loyal n proper cuddly ;) so a staffordshire bull on a girls shoulder blade/upper back, what would u think of it if u saw a girl with one like tht? honest plz. x x x

Answer
I would think that the girl likes the dog and possibly relates to it in some way.
I would think that maybe she had that particular dog as a pet at one time.
I would think that it was either a great tattoo image, a mediocre image, or a bad image, depending on the image chosen and the artist who did the work.
That's just about it.

I have a tattoo of a cross on my left arm, although you cannot tell what it fully is, until you look at my shoulder, I heard that I should be careful because if you are caught wearing a cross neckalace or something that shows your christian your safety is in question. Is it really that dangerous there? Should I keep it covered at all times whil I am there? Thanks for the replies!

Answer
Chinese are christians! Most have no religion. But as far as you...........they don't care what you are either!

I have seen many women wear necklace crosses, as far as knowing what it means, I have no idea if they know. As far as your tattoo I wouldn't hide it, but I certainly wouldn't flaunt it either. Keep your religion to yourself in China.

How can a woman dress to turn men off from her or communicate a lack of interest in men? Or what can they do or how can they behave to communicate this?

Answer
Do you REALLY want to do this? Because I am going to give you advice and I bet you won't want to take it, because it will detract 99% of the men who would otherwise hit on you, including the ones who you probably DO want to attract.

1. Cut your hair in a mullet. And don't style it all cute, with bangs that fall casually into your face. Have it blend really harsh, and have it be too short on the top for any girlish accessories. That, right there ... sends a clear signal to most men.

--- If the haircut isn't enough ---

2. Wear something like baggy cargo pants with suspenders, or overalls.

3. Get a few piercings, and wear jewelry that looks rough.

4. Try some anti-social or anti-establishment tattoos.

5. Clip your nails very short and don't put any glaze on them, at all.

DON'T

- wear makeup
- wear skirts, dresses, pumps or heels.

and EVEN THEN ... after you have made these modifications in your appearance, there will be men who approach you.

Better advice ...

Just politely tell men that you are not interested. Because unless you are willing to alter your appearance like that (which conveys signals that might draw other types of problems to you) men will still approach you.

Another solution that I used to use, was get a fake wedding set, and wear something like a very visible cross around your neck. That tells them "Christian Married Woman" and generally they will leave you alone. Religious men will leave you alone, and so will non-religious ones who are creeped out by your crucifix.

Guys what do you think of girls with forearm tattoos?

Coffee and

Ok so I have borderline personality disorder, and I self harmed for a few months. For like 2 horrible weeks it got pretty bad, so I've been left with some scars on my arms ranging from the middle to the top of my forearms. I really want to get them covered with a tattoo because they make me almost suicidal when I see them and I love tattoos anyway. I really want the Joy Division, Unknown Pleasures album cover on one arm, and I was thinking maybe a pink rose on the other arm. I'm quite a girly girl who people call 'eccentric and a bit weird' so I think I'd be able to pull them off.
I just wanted a guys opinion because I've always had the notion that tattoos on girls arms are manly, but I've seen a few girls with forearm tattoos and they look pretty good.
So please let me know what you think! Thank you!

Answer
My boyfriend loves all my tattoos on my arms. All mine in general as a matter of fact. Do what makes you happy and what you want to look at every day for the rest of your life. If you ever meet a guy who doesn't like you because of your tattoos, you don't want to be with him anyways. When you find the right guy, he will love you for you, not what your arms look like. Self inflicted scars can be detrimental to the healing process and happiness of daily life. As long as it's something you love, do it for yourself.

Do any of you guys like tattoos on girls?

Regan Hodg

What do you think of tattoos on girls. And where are the nicest places for girls?

Answer
Sorry for all the morons on here that troll the tattoo section and say bad things about tattoos. Anyway to answer your question yes it's very sexy when women have tattoos and I really like women with half sleeves or full sleeves if they can pull it off but half sleeves look hot and so do back pieces. The best places would be your upper arms, back, ribs really anywhere as long as the tattoo is well done and looks good. Tattoos on women are hot and anyone else who says different is just jealous and are too scared and will never get a tattoo so they rag on people who do have them. Good luck getting tattooed!

How did piercing in ancient cultures come about?

Q. I can understand tattoos representing certain tribes (like face paint) etc but what the hell made some person one day pick up something sharp & say ''yeah i'm going to ram this through my body & wear it everyday to look nice & represent my tribe''
I can understand wearing jewellry as its external & can be removed/put on without pain but piercings?

Answer
We do not know.
Ear piercing almost goes back to the beginning of time.
Adornment, religious reasons, position in society, who knows.

Mummified bodies with pierced ears have been discovered, including the oldest mummified body discovered to date, the 5,300 year-old Ãtzi the Iceman, which was found in a Valentina Trujillon glacier in Austria.(He also had tattoos)

The oldest earrings found in a grave date to 2500 B.C.E. These were located in the Sumerian city of Ur, home of the Biblical patriarch Abraham.

Earrings are mentioned in the Bible. In Genesis 35:4, Jacob buries the earrings worn by members of his household along with their idols. In Exodus 32, Aaron makes the golden calf from melted earrings. Deuteronomy 15:12â17 dictates ear piercing for a slave who chooses not to be freed.

Earrings are also referenced in connection to the Hindu goddess Lakshmi in the Vedas.

Earrings for pierced ears were found in a grave in the Ukok region between Russia and China dated between 400 and 300 B.C.E.

Among the Tlingit of the Pacific Northwest of America, earrings were a sign of nobility and wealth, as the placement of each earring on a child had to be purchased at an expensive potlatch.

Earrings were common in the Eighteenth dynasty (1550-1292 B.C.E.) of Egypt, generally taking the form of a dangling, gold hoop.
Gem-studded, golden earrings shaped like asps seem to have been reserved for nobility.

The ancient Greeks wore paste pendant earrings shaped like sacred birds or demigods, while the women of ancient Rome wore precious gemstones in their ears.

Nose piercing also has a long history, 1500 B.C.E., the Vedas refer to Lakshmi's nose piercings,

Nose piercing has been practiced by the Bedouin tribes of the Middle East and the Berber and Beja peoples of Africa, as well as Australian Aborigines.

Many Native American and Alaskan tribes practiced septum piercing. It was popular among the Aztecs, the Mayans and the tribes of New Guinea, who adorned their pierced noses with bones and feathers to symbolize wealth and (among men) virility.

The name of the Nez Perce tribe was derived from the practice, though nose piercing was not common within the tribe.

The Aztecs, Mayans and Incas wore gold septum rings for adornment, with the practice continued to this day by the Kuna of Panama.

It is a world wide tradition with obviously many different reasons for doing it.
I believe most did it because it was pretty.

What can a woman do to heal from a miscarriage?

Elijahsrel

What is the best way to heal emotionally from a miscarriage? Is it possible that healing still needs to take place even when the miscarriage happened several years earlier? What can a woman do to heal from a miscarriage? Thanks in advance for answering!

Answer
Bobby D - knowing that miscarriage happens in that many pregnancies does not help. You are a man and you will never know the emotional attachments to a pregnancy

Time.A woman may also seek counselling should she want to.Losing a pregnancy is hard, and like any loss it has to be mourned. As there is no set time period for grief or how long the process will last, then time is the only thing that will help. Some women find a 'funeral' helps them to move on.Release some balloons with the name of your child on (it doesn't matter if you knew the sex,go with your gut on whether it was a boy or girl and use the name they would have be given).Several of my friends have had miscarriages and many of them have a tattoo to commemorate their lost baby. One of them also has a charm bracelet with charms representing her children, including a star to represent the one she lost.Perhaps something like that would help. One of them buys a card at Christmas and on her due date to put in her memory box about her daughter (but she was a still birth). It's also normal and OK to get weepy around the time you would have given birth.Surround yourself with people who love you and talk, talk, talk - it really does help.Wishing you all the best

How did your parents react when they found out you were hiding a tattoo?

Peta

My friend got a small tattoo on her hip and she's been hiding it for about 8 months so far, she's 19 but her parents are totally against tattoos and piercings. Even though she is of age, her parents still have a "say" so i just wanted to know what your experiences were like :) plz share.

Answer
My first tattoo was on my wrist, so there was no hiding it. I got home that night, and my mother freaked out on me. Phoned my dad (they're divorced) and he freaked out on me even more. The next few days were tense, but they lightened up eventually. They told me I'll never get a decent job, or man and I'll always be and look like a loser. So I just decided to prove them wrong. I'm less than 2 years away from graduating with my law degree, work for the Police AND I'm engaged to the most amazing man ever. My tattoo collection have grown since then, my mom now actually wants to see it and tells everyone about it, my dad says I look like a girl on TV (some show he watches, but it's a compliment so I'm happy.) They 'll get over it. Tell them, let them be mad, and just prove them (and the rest of society) wrong by being awesome. :D good luck.

Answer
Why would anyone want to be a preconceived stereotype and be a slave to the stars? Don't people like having free will? Giving up your intellect for a discriminating fortune telling system, that wants to be a lifestyle, holds no logic and reason.

"In childhood our credulity serves us well. It helps us to pack, with extraordinary rapidity, our skulls full of the wisdom of our parents and our ancestors. But if we don't grow out of it in the fullness of time, our ... nature makes us a sitting target for astrologers, mediums, gurus, evangelists, and quacks. We need to replace the automatic credulity of childhood with the constructive skepticism of adult science".

I was wondering what you guys thought of tattoos on girls?...... I have a small one the size of my thumb nail on my wrist... It's of 4 dots and it stands for my sisters and me and it has a lot of meaning to me I'm also 15... But I just wasn't sure about what other people thought of tattoos?

Answer
I think that it can look great depending on the person, but I really don't think it looks good if the girl has like 10 tatoo's. It's just a bit tacky to me, but like I said, I think it's really beautiful if it's symbolic and done in a tasteful way, not like a tattoo of someone showing middle finger or some creepy grim reaper, that kinda thing :p

How bad does it hurt to get your wrist tattoo?

TaylerM

I have want to get a tattoo on my wrist for ever does it really hurt that bad?

Answer
To me all tattoos no matter where they are, the lining feels like a pinch that's being pulled/dragged and the shading feels like a sunburn someone keeps touching/lightly scratching. Keep in mind everyone's different, I've seen full grown men faint, and little pixie like girls take it like a champ.

Hope this helps.

I am 16 and about to receive a tattoo on my left bicep on my arm and was wondering, since my body is still growing, will it have any effect on the tattoo such as stretching or deforming as I gradually get older?

But I would also like to add that I am a boxer and I am still trying to build muscle will this also have an effect?

And any other advice or effect you might have please add to your response, thankyou.

Answer
Firstly, it is illegal for anyone to tattoo you under the age of 18 they will get prosecuted for assault on a minor.

Secondly, depending how fast you gain mass on your arms there is a risk of stretch marks through your new tatt. However These can be touched over and would only be a problem if you gained the weight quickly. Oiling your upper arm (once fully healed) would reduce this risk as it does with pregnant women.

Thirdly, your still growing and at 16 you may not have reached your final body shape or size. Tattoos put on younger persons do have tendency to wander a little an the arms change shape and size. What fits your arm perfectly at 16 will look too small for you and may wander from the optimum central position by the time you are 18 and depending on the tattoo you choose it may well deform (generally pulled diagonally) as your bicep grows. But as i say it does depend on the tattoo you choose as to how obvious this becomes.

In my opinion you should wait a few more years before you tattoo your arms especially if you plan to gain muscle mass. If your adamant on getting a tattoo at 16 it would maybe be better to get it on your lower leg as a boxer gains most of his weight up top and this would reduce the growing worries.

Pick your artist carefully, reputable artists wont risk tattooing under age people.

How to be safe when getting a tattoo?

Daphne

I want a tattoo, but I want to be safe. So, what are some precautions I should take when choosing a place?

BQ: does shaving over your tattoo make it fade?

Answer
The safest thing you could do would be not to get one in the first place! It might look great now, but depending on where on your body you get the tattoo, it may move and/or stretch, and look just awful in 20 or 30 years or less. Plus if that tattoo is something you later decide you don't want, like the name of a lover, you may want it removed, which is possible (and expensive), but there will likely always be scarring!

If you are set on getting on tattoo, then go for it. It's not my thing, by I wouldn't judge someone for having one! I'd say most of the people I know have tattoos! Just make sure the place you're going to is clean and has a good reputation. If you can find anything out about the particular tattoo shop from the internet or word of mouth, that would great. Also look around when you go in the shop itself. If the shop or the employees look dirty, I'd get out of there quick. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the tattoo procedure itself, and what steps the business uses for infection control, like how they sanitize their equipment and stuff. If the employees get annoyed with you for asking such questions, or avoids answering them, I'd say that's another cue to run out the door as fast as you can.

I've known a few women who've gotten tattoos on their legs, and I've never once heard one of them mention that shaving fades the tattoo, so I wouldn't worry about that!

I tried two days ago to redye my hair because my roots were showing. It has been about two months since my last application. My hair after this time turned out a brown blonde and I just wanted blonde so the next day I did another box of a lighter shade. It turned orange. Now today for the third day in a row I am trying to lighten it again. Is my hair going to be severely damaged from this?

Answer
Damaged hair is JUST ONE of the side effects for playing with chemicals, some people die from it, or they go into a coma. I had frequent migraines, when I was using chemicals, I just didn't know it until I stopped. I hardly get headaches!
.
Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

London, Feb 20, 2013 I've been saying that since 2009.
Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 22 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <â¨

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

How bad would it be to dye my hair again?

Brilen

I recently (maybe 2 weeks ago?) dyed my hair red, but it only showed up on half my hair because it was dyed black before and began to grow out. I personally think it looks horrible, especially now that its summer and im super tan with half red hair. I want to dye it black again, but im scared of damaging my hair even more than it already is. I know any dyeing is terrible for your hair, but i really hate how it looks. Would it be worth it to dye it black again?

Answer
Damaged hair is just ONE of the side effects from dyeing hair.
Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. They call that the ombre style.

However, ammonia and PPD are two very different things and PPD is present in nearly every dye because it is what gives off the colour,â she explains.

Is putting on a bunch of temporary tattoos too messy for Halloween?

David the

Never was into tattoos, so looking like a tattoo fan sounds like one idea for Halloween, if the temporary ones are easy to take off for the next day. Or, does it get into the clothes?

Answer
I have seen a wide variety of the wet and press on tattoos it takes a little practise but they can look like real tattoos. I am sure different brands work differently. Henna tattoos stay on for awhile longer whereas the wet and press on stay on until they are worn off or taken off with alcohol and some rubbing. Be careful where you put them if you want to remove them because they take a little effort to remove and a sensitive area is unpleasant to remove it from. I use to do plenty on the kids. The glitter rhinestone ones often do not usually stay on very good and may require a better glue than they come with. I am sure one can use the super glue to attach these better to the skin but it will take awhile for them to come off because the skin will have to be shed or pulled off with it. What determines how a tatoo affects the skin and how long it stays is how it is applied and what it is made of. The plastic wet and press ones do not tend to have colors come off on clothing. I am sure they have information on the internet about tatoos. I knew a beautiful Asian woman who use to come in with these incredible wet and press on tatoos over her very nice chest that looked real but as every few weeks they would change it was obvious they were temporary. The wet and press ones I put on the kids stay on pretty good for about a week then begin wearing off but to get them off faster for school their mother takes alcohol and rubs enough that the kid got tired of the tatoos and no longer want them unless they are on the shoulder where they can be hidden by a sleeve.
I would suggest you practise awhile before Halloween as to applying the temporary tattoos so that you can do a good job on Halloween. Often the dollar stores have lots of smaller ones and various sizes to practise with. Just put them where you can cover them or easily remove them. Start out small and build up. The ones I buy come in sheets and I cut out what I want to put on. Once you begin to apply it is difficult to fix them so begin with some inexpensive ones for practising if you intend to go on to the really nice bigger ones that can be purchased at various places and probably on the internet.

How can i save my tattoos while tanning in a tanning bed?

Vanessa

I have a big colored tattoo where my front ribs are, and ive heard that tanning will fade it out. I spent alot of money on my tattoo and if its going to be on my body for the rest of my life, i want it looking good as long as possible. Advice please, (im aware of the dangers of tanning blah blah okay cool were clear)

Answer
You could use sunblock or cover it with a towel. Tanning beds WILL fade your ink. I know maybe you think that being "tan" is sexy but seriously reconsider this. Tanning salons are going out of business left and right. For starters, fake tans usually LOOK fake. Secondly it destroys your skin and makes it look like leather when you are old and this is a proven fact. I don't even have to go into the health risk because you probably know already.

I am a man and I have LOTS of tattoos. I love to surf, hike and be outside. BUT being inked is a lifestyle choice and I know that. So I wear a wetsuit, I wear long sleeves and I wear sunblock all the time. I have spent thousands of dollars and I have my bodysuit almost complete. This means I can NEVER use a tanning bed and I have to avoid excess sun forever. That is okay with me. I love my ink and want it to last forever.

As a guy I am going to be honest here. I think overly tanned girls look stupid! It isn't sexy, it isn't cute and it isn't healthy. It also makes you look old and will destroy your ink. People who bake in tanning beds look weird. Especially if a woman has nice ink that is attractive to me. I also like people with their NATURAL skin color! Baking in a tanning bed was hot in 1985. It isn't hot in 2011. There are tons of self tanners on the market if you want to look darker. If you care about your ink STOP with the beds! Good luck!
