tattoo policy for marines?

4 door bea

so my question is that my friend who is a girl wants to join the marines, i really dont like her shes a physco slut that does not deserve the title as a marine right after i enlisted she decides she wants to go, im just prayin shes to stupid for the asvab or somehow will not make it, she has a large tattoo all along her ribs to part of her back and another tattoo that says "never back down" yeah i know...anyways shes doing this for attention and not for the right reason is there any chance her tattoo will hold her back from joining oh yeah she has lots of charges also, domestic violence and other misdemeanors, i just dont want her joining shes a physco let me know what you think oh yeah she has hpv virus ha

Answer
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=marine+tattoo+policy&aq=1

there is the Marine Corps tattoo policy

To be honest with maybe somebody like her needs the change that comes with being a Marine. Having HPV doesn't stop a girl from joining the military especially when many people carry that virus currently.

So what if she has issues, how are they your concern. Id be cautious about talking trash about people like this in the internet. Not to smart, and immature.

Praying hands with cross tattooed on girls chest?

youknowwho

Hey ya'll my grandpa died a week ago and he meant everything to me. He practically raised me so like another dad to me. He taught me a lot on life and what the true meaning to family was. I was wondering if i get a tattoo of Jesus praying hands with them holding a cross with a banner going around and having a saying in it on my chest. Would that be somewhere best to get it like close to your heart? if not where else should that tattoo be placed. I have 2 tats on my shoulder and my foot. I don't care if it hurts i could care less. The way i see it it's a needle and it's gonna hurt. If i sat threw a 2 hour tat on my foot then i could sit through anything.

Answer
Please choose another location for your tattoo.

A chest tattoo on a woman is a very, very bad idea. Try to think ahead and imagine how that will look sticking out of swimsuits, tops, a prom or wedding dress.

Your in intentions are good but please don't deface your chest with a tattoo, your grandpa wouldn't want that. Consider waiting until the one year anniversary to make a final decision.

Chest tattoo on girls?

Ohhai

Okay, soon i'll be getting my first tattoo, it's a little peacock feather and i think it'd look amazing on my chest and yes i know it will hurt like f***! most probably but it'll be worth it :)

But my question is..
What do you think of tattoos on girls chests?
Even if its just a little one piece :)
Laura - My chest will be covered up quite a bit. I'm currently working with kids so i'll have to cover it up every day, cept weekends. I don't think it'll drive me crazy haha.
Plus! it's pretty tiny. It's not massive like all over my chest. I'm thinking of getting it near my collarbone/shoulder :]

Answer
Since it is your first, you have to consider that since it is on your chest, it is very visible. Take that into consideration. You and others will see it all the time. Make sure you are okay with this idea. If so, go for it! it will look great as long as it won't drive you crazy.

Back tattoos and pregnancy/birth complications?

Jo

I was reading something today that said that women who have tattoos on the middle of their lower back, can't have an epidural because of the small possibility that the ink can get into the blood stream (or something like that, it wasn't very specific). I have a hard time believing this, but does anyone know about this, or heard the same thing? Does anyone have a lower center back tattoo and had an epidural?

Thanks
I did some research and found this on snopes. It's pretty interesting. http://www.snopes.com/medical/drugs/tattoo.asp

Although, I still don't think I would think twice about getting one with a tattoo anyway.

Answer
I have a huge tattoo on my lower back and its all black , i've had two epidurals with no complications.

how much does a lower back tattoo hurt?

Jenn

hi im a 19 year old girl and im thinking about getting a lower back tattoo. not too big cuz it's my first and i;m really scared of getting one. just a little heart tattoo. about twice the size of a quarter? how much does it really hurt and i heard that if women get a lower back tattoo then they will be unable to get an epidural. is that really true?

Answer
You ask how much a lower back tattoo will hurt. If you make that big mistake and you get one, you will experience a lot of pain and you will bleed. You will not be in a hospital or operating room, and there is a chance you will catch some vile blood-born disease like hepatitis or flesh eating bacteria. Your wound may become infected. The so-called "tattoo artist" may make a mistake and you will be stuck with the results. I strongly recommend you reconsider getting tattooed. Your body is clean now, and not profaned by any graffiti, but that will change forever if you pay some tattoo predator to ruin your body. Just don't do it is my advice to you! You have lasted this long without tattoo, do not cave to the pressure from lesser people or a sick society and take that fatal step. Everything will change for you, for the worse, after you get that first tattoo.. Let me tell you why I am so anti-tattoo and so anxious that you not take this ugly step. The true cost of a tattoo is a lifetime of regret. There is an 80% chance you will regret it in your lifetime. Many people will look at you with disgust, for tattoos are offensive to many, many people. Your chances of getting a good job will be greatly diminishedâmost companies will not hire you since your tattoo will be seen as offensive to other workers. There is nothing good about a tattoo. A tattoo is little better than a cartoonâyou canât get a good quality drawing on the human skin. Tattoos are an urban blight. They are ugly, like graffiti. Like graffiti, they lower the quality of the environment. Tattoos lower the quality of life, for everyone who has to see their ugliness. I donât like the whole concept of tattooing, the way these hideous cartoons are inked into the flesh of people through bloodletting and pain; to me they are a dark and evil art. Tattoos are closely linked to other forms of self harm, like cutting, piercing, drug use, etc.; they are hand-in-glove with these destructive behaviors. I donât like the way evil people encourage our vulnerable children to get tattooed, so they can make money off of them. They do not care that they are causing harm. And yet, these evil ones, these tattoo predators, are even admired by their deceived victims. Young people are fooled into wanting tattoos by degenerate Hollywood and the media. Kids think tattoos are cool and cutting edge, but over time, they wind up hating their tattoos. Far worse, they wind up hating themselves. Parents and older people are so afraid of being disliked that they say nothing against tattoos, even though they know better. Worse, some completely abandon their responsibility to provide sound guidance and even encourage the young ones to get tattooed. As far as tattoos being âartâ, that is garbage. A tattoo is NOT "a work of art". The human body is not a canvas and the abusers and mutilators who desecrate it are not artists. Most of their so called "art" is little better than comic book drawings. . More and more young people are buying into this Hollywood lie that tattoos are a cutting edge way to âexpressâ yourself. But that is so not true. You should express yourself with your words and actions, not by inking graffiti onto your living flesh. I have no tattoos. I hate tattoos and those who inflict them upon our young people. Do not listen to the many predators and enablers here, who encourage young people to abandon decency and live self indulgent and destructive lives. Young peopleâdo not get tattooed. Stay in school, do your best there, avoid drinking, drugs, tattoos and piercings, and avoid those who have them. Go to college, study science, mathematics, or business, and avoid liberal arts (unless you are wealthy and donât need to make a living). God bless you in your life.

What makes girls with tattoos so appealing?

Midnight T

Iâm a guy who dresses in tight jeans or dress pants, collar shirts, and shoes. I love to dress like a pretty boy but for some odd reason I am turned on by chicks with tattoos (and Asiansâ¦donât ask). What makes girls with tattoos so freaking appealing?

Some of you are quite simple minded. Just because a chick has a tattoo doesn't really make her a slut or trailer trash. Let me ask you this? Say your mother just got or has a tattoo..does that make her a slut?

Answer
Its the mystery behind the tattoo that is so appealing... its what leaves you wanting more. Tattoos to me, are either something you absolutely love or what you are too scared to otherwise admit to the world. Its a form of self expression that is so beautiful and unique that its a shame that people still associate it with a lower class of society.

To the shallow minded answers out there: How dare you imply that anyone with a tattoo is a slut or trailor trash or whatever. Its not the tattoo itself that makes a person a slut, its the person behind it themselves. If they act and/ or dress in a provocative manner then thats their perogative. We are all entitled to live our life as we please. Who do you think you are to judge someone by their apperance anyways? Do you think it makes you sound SO much better than them? I dont think so... In fact, it makes you sound shallow and judgemental. We [tattooed people] dont look at you any differently, we treat everyone the same despite what you look like... so let me ask you this: who really is the better person now?

I have 5 tattoos myself, and when I feel like showing them off, I do. But how sad is it that when I go to places of a higher class, I actually cover them up... not because Im ashamed, but because I know that they wont give me the service I deserve if they see I have a huge tattoo on both my upper and lower back. I can honestly say though, I love showing off my tattoos and I take every opportunity I can to show them off. They each have a special meaning to me and I dont regret any of them... and for the record, yes, I DO plan to get more.

guys- do you like tattoos on girls?

Paul T

I think some are cool but I hate the un-original tramp stamps on the back.

I like a girl that dosent have any tattoos better though

Answer
Tattoos are to remember something, to be a tribute or a passion. I don't care who has them, I think if you like something enough to get a tattoo of it then its cool. As long as you don't regret them all is well whether on a guy or girl. My girlfriend and I are going Monday to get tattoos and I have no objection. I am getting this.

is at tattoo of angel wings a girls tattoo more than mens?

Q. well im a male and i have seen some big angel wings that i wont on my back because they look amazing but my friend said thats a girls tattoo! it doesn't look girly to me but i need to know of you guys before i even think about having it on me for life what do you think

Answer
Considering that angels have been historically depicted as male it would seem that angel wings are more of a man's tattoo than a woman's tattoo. It's only in more recent history that angels have been depicted more as female.

If you're getting the wings for religious reasons remember that Lucifer and all the archangels were depicted as male.

what hurts more, rib cage or shoulder blade tattoo?

Lisa

I already have one on my rib cage (full color, about 3 inches wide and 3 inches tall)

Answer
I answer these questions related to pain in the same way every time.

The pain in different places differs from person to person, pain threshold does have a lot of input but, for example, my chest tattoo didn't hurt at all, where as some people I know said their chest tattoo hurt a lot!

Anyway, here's a basic pain level chart I always reffer people to.

Pain level 1
These include the upper arm, forearm, calf, Bum, and Thigh. For a 1st tattoo these are great points to begin your inked journey.

Pain level 2
These include the centre back, front / side of thighs and shoulders. This is also not too bad a start for your first tattoo. The shoulders and central back region can be area that require quite a lot of movement. The skin on these areas is much looser meaning it takes longer to tattoo and also longer to heal. On areas that have lots of movement such as these, require more care once a tattoo is completed. Due to the thigh area being quite a dense muscle mass and also quite tight skin, it may tend to bruise the day after.

Pain level 3
These include the knees, elbows, hands, head, neck, feet, chest and back of thighs. Beginners beware of starting at these areas. You would need to be determined to have tattoos here as the high sensitivity would require a lot of mental focus to get you through. The poor quality of skin on both the knees and elbows will result in a very slow tattoo process and nerves are very close to the surface in these areas. This could result in the tattooing being unbearable for any length of time for some people. As with the orange areas these tend to be high movement areas and will require a longer healing timescale. You may find that to achieve a good solid colour, you may have to repeat the tattoo process on these areas. As a side note the chest area on men can be much more sensitive to pain than a woman, yet due to the tighter skin on a male, the tattoo can be completed quicker.

Pain level 4 (OWCHIE!)
Areas include hips, ribcage, stomach, back of knees, armpit, inside of elbow, nipples, lips, inside of thighs and genitals. Are you really sure you want to get that tattoo? As these areas can elicit crying, half finished tattoos or even the customer passing out. This could just be more than you may be able to handle. All of these purple areas are considered by most to be the most painful areas to be tattooed. The stretchy or thin skin over bone are slow to tattoo, some of these may require multiple sessions to achieve solid colour and smooth shading. Healing can be just as painful as receiving the tattoo and may require a few days off from your regular activities.

SOME USEFUL TIPS WHEN GETTING A TATTOO:

â¢Women are your more sensitive the week prior to and during your cycle. Plan around those dates to have the best experience possible when getting your tattoo.
â¢Use lotion everyday on the area to be tattooed at least 1 week prior for healthier skin and better results.
â¢Do not go out in the sun at least one week prior to being tattooed (including tanning beds) This drys the skin and if peeling occurs could damage the tattoo.
â¢Consider what you will wear for 2 weeks while healing if your tattoo is in an area like the foot, waist, shoulders or chest. Shoes, waistbands, belts, underwear, and bras can all damage tattoos if you do not plan ahead. Find comfortable clothing that will not touch or rub during this time.
â¢Always eat a good meal before being tattooed and drink plenty of fluids.
â¢Be sure to get a good nights rest before your appointment.
â¢Ask what kind of aftercare products you will need when you set up to get your tattoo.
â¢Mention any allergies you may have, pigments, dyes, perfumes.
â¢Some medication may thin your blood, check with your doctor before being tattooed.
â¢Anyone with an autoimmune disorder needs to check with their doctor and should bring a note to be tattooed.

Angel tattoo on shoulder blade?

Beatinghea

I am thinking of getting a set of angel wings on my shoulder blade as a second choice for a tattoo. Only thing is, i am NOT artistic in anyway and i can't find an image that i like. I'm looking for it to be approx. 3/4 inches tall and 2/4 inches wide.
Anyone that can help.. thanks :)

Answer
Hey.

It's not your job or responsibility to design it. Go to your tattooer, most artists won't charge you anything for designing the tattoo itself, and you can be certain that if they are good at their job, it'll look a lot better. Also in my experience with tattooing angel wings, my colleagues and I generally freehand all wing designs, to get them to flow with the natural curves of the back, making them look even better again, very attractive and sensuous on a woman when they are done correctly.

Don't rely on strangers to design your tattoo for you, leave it to the pro's and chances are you'll get a much nicer tattoo.

Hope it works out for you!

Does anyone know the significance of this tatt?

Nutterp840

http://pinterest.com/pin/138696863495069538/

Answer
People wear the feather tattoo to represent their Native American heritage or to get in touch with their spiritual side. Eagle feathers were given to warriors in the tribe as a symbol of bravery, courage, and honor. Feathers can also be associated with those who have passed away.
One of the most common feather tattoo designs is the single feather tattoo. In many cases, the feather may actually be from a specific bird. When this is the case, the tattoo design usually has symbolic meaning from the feather and the specific bird. Some of the most common feathers used is the eagle feather, peacock feather, egret feather, ostrich feather, swallow feather, and the turkey feather.

One of the more common meanings of the feather tattoo is "freedom". Most of us have been outside when a bird feather would fly by in the wind. This is reference to where the meaning comes from. Feather tattoos in a traditional sense are usually done in black or grey. The peacock feather is a popular choice among women due to all the beautiful colors of its feathers.

The word "diamond" is Greek in origin and symbolizes "invincible". And it could be her birth stone.

What style of art is this?

Is my daughter hiding a tattoo?

kimbacfc12

My daughter is 16 years old and for the past few months has been talking about getting a tattoo. however over the past 2 weeks has completely dropped the subject and has only been wearing long sleeved jumpers/zippers etc. . . (thick is out of her character because usually its a struggle to get her to cover up) im worried she has got a tattoo now. I have asked her if she got one to which she replied 'no, im not allowed one'. she could have it anywhere on her upper body, im thinking it will either be on her lower back, stomach or wrist, how to i get to see if she has one without being to obvious?

Answer
Just trust her, Buster.

If she she's done it, it's done and irrevocable. Her punishment is that she will have to wear it forever. There will come a day when that tattoo, illicitly gotten at 16, will seem to her like the worst idea she ever had.

Or not.

Either way, chill. You expressed your opposition. Just tell her you love her no matter what. Baby Girl needs to take charge of her own choices without Parental Unit being the Body Police.

Tattoo's in the work place?

vivib

I just saw a news report and the contraversy of tattoos in the work place and how some employers will not hire someone with visible tattoos. I am not totally in agreement with this. What about service men who have an insignia on their arm. Nothing wrong with being proud of being in the service. I have seen the tattoos " In memory of my brother _____" nothing at all offensive there. I have also seen beautiful 3D tattoos of someones child or pet. That is true art. Since when is art offensive? However, would you draw the line to someone that has skulls, swastikas, pictures of hitler, demonic symbols. What is the fine line between art and rubbish?

Answer
Unfortunately tattoos still have some stigma and are not considered "professional" by the mainstream. The mainstream employers have stereotypes about who gets tattoos. They are not all art. Would you want to see at work naked women, drugs. demons, antisocial statements............ Mine is covered by clothing unless I choose otherwise.

I am looking for a few ideas for a new tattoo?

c f

I am going to get a tattoo that stretches from my chest to my shoulder, wraps around the back of my shoulder, and goes down to my elbow. (if you've seen dwayne "the rock" johnsons tattoo it's about the size of it). but see the thing is, is that i'm not into tribal, i don't know my family crest, i'm not samoan, I don't like skulls, dragons, nothin like that. I am of course, going to look at the scetches when I get there, but I want to have an idea b4 i walk through the door. anyone got any ideas for me? thanx

Answer
any kind of fierce animal will do for you. like a bear, tiger, lion. things like that are common, like having the paw cutting into the skin on the chest and the rest going around the shoulder and down the back.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/27639042@N06/2575073253/
just like this pic but with a different animal.

if you are going to get a full tat like this i must tell you about the amazing tribal piece i've seen. its so majorly bad ass that i can't help it...and as it seems i cant find a decent picture of it anywhere. watch the movie. The Number 23 with Jim Carey. its a good show and an awesome tat.

okay back on subject though as your not into tribal.
if your not into tribal and your just not sure. may i suggest something mythical. like greeks gods or goddesses. the men can be strong and the women are very beautiful. you could do something like Poseidon with his trident rescuing a mermaid that is tied to an anchor or caught in a net. just shooting ideas here....if you feel like the "whole world is on you" you could get Atlas, he was condemned to carry the Earth on his back. You could get the Muses, very beautiful women that represent talent and where people get their inspiration from. i think there are eight and they represent agriculture, arts, astronomy/science, commerce, education, industry, justice, and law.

if not mythical then you could do Zodiac like the rock did. tell the artist that you want a Zoadic tattoo that is masculine and simialr to The Rock's.

My boyfriends best friend is a girl and she has a few on her forearms. On her left arm she has a cherry blossom design that takes up almost all of her inner arm. Then on her right she has a quote and a few inches up she has a feather. They're all on her inner forearms and she wears them with soo much confidence so it looks good. And goes with her style.

But do you think they only look good on certain people? If you're comfortable enough to wear them like that? What do you think about girls with inner forearm tattoos?

Answer
I honestly don't like the tattoos. I am not a fan of tattoos to begin with. i mean if your goal in life is to ruin your skin then go ahead but if you want to be pretty.... then i wouldn't. SO all in all i don't agree with the tattoo thing. (any girl with tattoos i always see as a slut!)

inner forearm tattoos on girls?

Answer
A few years ago, I decided I wanted an inner forearm tattoo. I excitedly ran my idea through people. The 'people' were mostly tattooed men. It did not go over well. fyi I am now 40yrs old. At the time I had no visible tattoos.

The forearm is prime real estate, so its important its something you really really love.

Since then, I've gotten my upper arms done, they are just about filled (2 half sleeves). I love them.

I have my appointment for my inner forearm tattoo in a few weeks in Sept. I've had the appt. since Apr. I think that they look fabulous on women.

didn't ask people this time, because I don't care and I've always been certain I want this. The original tattoo I wanted for the inner forearm has changed.

I think that if you love it, then the tattoo is for you. Mistakes I see some making on this placement is getting a tattoo too big for the canvas.

Bicep tattoo pain????????????

B

I'm a girl and and I want to get a quote under my arm, on my bicep. Look up Megan Rapinoe's tattoo for an example if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I just want to know how bad it hurts.

I got some lettering and waves on the side of my foot and it didn't hurt to me at all so idk if i have a high pain tolerance or what...?

Answer
Most women do have a high pain tolerance, especially when compared to men. Ask any tattoo artist, men are the real wussies when it comes to getting ink. They piss and moan twice as much as the girls. The bicep is a piece of cake, compared to the foot. You'll do fine.

Poems about bare feet?

Chelsey

I'm getting a tattoo of foot prints along from my hip, up my ribs, around the back of my shoulder
along with the foot prints I need a short poem, quote, or saying about bare feet.
I've searched google high and low and can't find anything I really like.
I want it to be about how carefree, beautiful, and fun being barefoot is
Thank you :)

Answer
walking on women's not really my thing
how would that cause you my praises to sing?

Being naked approaches being revolutionary; going barefoot is mere populism.

What do guys think of tattoos under a girl's collarbone?

Okay, so, I'm just asking this out of pure curiosity. I'm not going to change anything based on these answers. I'm honestly just curious.

But what do guys think of tattoos under a girl's collarbone? And i don't mean the whole chest area covered, just something like this:

http://whi.s3.prod.lg1x8.simplecdn.net/images/854548/tumblr_krksbz2z3W1qze4yoo1_500_thumb.png?1255672128

Answer
i have a tattoo about the size of my fist under each collar bone, and so far no guys have said anything negative about it. in fact the standard reaction is "thats a lot hotter than i thought they were going to be"

Question for Girls with Tattoos on Shoulder/Back/Collarbone?

Kelsey

I am thinking about getting a tattoo on my collarbone area, but my bra strap would be on it. Would my bra strap constantly rub against my tattoo and cause fading? If so, can I get it touched up every so often to keep it looking like new? Thanks.

Answer
Try a strapless bra until your tattoo heals. Keep it moisturized. Most tattoo artists will do touch ups for free, if they did the original tattoo artist. Your best bet would be to talk with your tattoo artist.

Collarbone tattoos are amazing.

Best of luck :)

What's the deal w/ people getting sparrow tattoos all the sudden?

Q. I've seen a ton of these lately. Is it b/c of pirates of the Caribbean?

Answer
Sparrow design has been around for years... an old Sailor Jerry design. Alot of Navy crew men and even women will get these to display them having been stuck on a damned boat for half a year. It is a symbol of hope as when old sailor would see them thye knew they where close to land... this being before GPS and what such.

However there have been several more people that have none of these reasons listed above to get other than hope. It has more do to mass media and trend apeal lately but the design has been around several years.

Clothing brands... help?

sunisa

I'm looking for clothing brands such as Famous, Ed Hardy.. etc.
only I'm looking for a less mainstream brand.
something that not everyone has in their closets already.
Gretchen, thanks for the link, I love the clothes! xD
Kimberly, dear, is that a brand or are you referring to me as a ""spoilded""---> brat? HA.
if so, wow. that's low.

Answer
Check out Sailor Jerry. It has that tattoo thing going on like Ed Hardy but it's more of a retro style. They make clothes for men and women, here's a link...http://www.sailorjerry.com/index.php

tattoos???

Dean L

What do you guys think about neck tattoos... full neck or half neck. ... or any at all?

Answer
I already wrote on another tattoo question, so I'll just copy my answer. Same situation.

I find the whole tattoo thing funny.

First of all, if you really want a tattoo and it's something deeply meaningful to you, you should be able to answer your own question on what to get and where to put it. And you shouldn't give 2 cents about what anyone else thinks about it.

However, I think most people today get tattoos just to be part of a fad. I remember being in college and seeing this huge boom in tattoos, for both men and women, around 99-00.

Today, it seems like every girl has a tramp stamp and every guy a tribal arm band. I've gotten to the point where I think everyone looks even more like a conformist idiot.

Again, if it really means something to you- more power to ya. Who cares what other people think. Follow your heart.

Dragon tattoo for girl?

DubaiCanad

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo of a dragon wraped around a cross on my tight ...
It has a special meaning to me..but some people are telling me, its not feminine enough...So i dont know now.I'M a very feminine and classic women, vice-president of an important business... Maybe its not good for me...but i still have it in my mind.
What do you think?
Does anybody has any suggestion?

Thanks a lot for your time.
The dragon and cross on my thigh would have a strong spiritual meaning to me... Spirituality, Strength, Loyalty and Honor. Values which ruled my life, and made me become what i am today ...

Answer
Hmm.. Its really a personal preference if you want a tattoo then go for it, If you're unsure however I would ponder on it a little more, Maybe try a Lotus Flower or a Hibiscus Or possibly a flower and tribal design with some stars? Check out deviantart.com and google images for tattoo designs, Or you could always find an artist, Always ask for a portfolio before settling with one, A good artist always keeps a portfolio of their work and you want to know what they're capable of, Ask about a custom tattoo, Ask them about drawing up something for you they might require a deposit just to ensure you wont waste their time, However it would be a better way to go about it, That way the artist can have fun with it and incorporate their own style to make it look good, Because I can Promise you anything you pick off of the wall in a tattoo parlor the artist has already done it before, Just a few tips to getting a great tattoo, Have fun and Best of luck

Tattoos on women acceptable?

Muffin

I know tons of women get them I'm just wondering what people's opinions are on them ... what part of the world you're in would be nice to know too 'cause I don't plan on staying here in California forever and if they're looked down on elsewhere I want to know. Especially in the workplace.
I want to get one on my wrist before I graduate college if I can haha. Thanks. :)

Oh! And if any guys answer what do you think of them on women? Would you date a tatted girl?

Answer
Interestingly, there are more American women with tattoos than men. I don't really care for them, but I wouldn't not date someone who hd them. Just don't get it somewhere that can't be covered. My kid's GF has one on the back of her neck. She'll have to wear high collars in a professional job. On the other hand, I've got a woman who works for me with most of her back covered, and she wears tops that show a lot of it. I don't have a problem with it in the office, but we usually dress better when we travel. She hasn't traveled yet so I'm curious to see if she wears something less revealing when to go somewhere.

TATTOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Paigeee <3

I'm 15 and my step mom said i can get a tattoo when i turn 16 which is jan 6th. What should my first tattoo be a tramp stamp or like a little star or something? If you have any suggestions plz write them down & try to put a picture lol thank you!!!!!!!

Answer
First, don't let anyone sway your opinion on if you want a lower back tattoo. They were around long before the term "tramp stamp" was invented, and they'll be around long after people ask "what's a tramp stamp?". If that's what you want, then go for it!

Second, seeing as to how tattoos are forever, make it something meaningful, or something that you will enjoy for the rest of your life. Remember that likes and dislikes will change a lot over your life (especially in the next 5 years of your life), so when you make your decision, make sure that it won't be something you'll hate later on in life, such as lyrics from a band you can't remember 20 years from now ^_~ (however, if it's meaningful lyrics, or from your 'all time favorite band', then consider it [ex: I would be happy with the lyrics from Metallica's Fade to Black, but I'd kick myself if I had Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby]).

Likewise, if you choose some picture of some sort, unless you plan to have a 'child-like playfulness' about you your entire life, I would avoid any sort of child-like imagery (if fate should have it that, at 80, you're a bitter old woman, you will hate the lollipop tattoo on your ankle), or conversely, anything too 'extreme' from your 'average self' (if at 80 you're a kid-at-heart, the tattoo that reminds you to take the "safe route" might become too stuffy for you).

For something meaningful, consider your own personality traits. If you think of yourself as being courageous, pick a lion. If you're cute, pick a puppy or a ribbon. If you love stargazing, pick celestial figures. If you're religious, pick your favorite passage from your (insert appropriate book here), or an icon from your favorite story. If you take pride in your heritage, pick a pattern based off that heritage... and so on.

If you want something purely artistic but simple, some suggestions: a shower of stars, a rainbow ending in a cloud, butterflies (consider natural butterflies as well, as they are just as vivid in nature as our own imaginations), frogs, geckos, vines, flowers, leaves, small birds, owls, or smiley face with "Have A Nice Day" (or maybe a pirate happy face with "Have A Piratey Day, ARRR!", or some other theme like that).

Most tattoo shops will have flash (common tattoo images) on their walls for you to look at, so if no ideas here satisfy what you want, check out their flash, and see if you can't work with your artist to come up with something that's "uniquely you".

Question for all the people with tattoos.... ?

Live, Love

Don't you find it rather annoying when people go on and on about how "tattoos are permanent" and "they are going to fade and distort", and that they are "ugly to look at it/ it should be illegal"? I swear sometimes I want to crawl through the screen and slap them.

So my question to you is... Doesn't that bother you? Also, how many tattoos do you have and where? What age did you get your first one?

I was 17 when I got my first one. I have a flamingo/palm tree in my right ankle and a large cross w a trinity symbol/wings that covers the top part of my back (between my shoulder). :)

Answer
Well, no it doesn't bother me if the information is correct and true.
1) tattoos are permanent = true - meaning that much thought should go into the images and/or words, and that what you find appealing at 15, you probably will not want when you are 20 or 40 or 60 etc.
2) tattoos fade = true IF you do not take excellent care of them and use the highest SPF sunblock each and every time that you expose your tattoo to the elements, no matter what the weather, and all year round - and you should reapply often.
3) tattoos distort = true IF you get them when your body has not finished growing (under 18), and they distort if you get pregnant or gain a bunch of weight. Sometimes when you are young, your skin will pull back, but often belly tattoos on woman turn into a nightmare with age and pregnancies.
4) tattoos are 'ugly to look at and should be illegal' = false - this is totally opinion based and has no relevancy to anyone wanting a tattoo. It is no one's business what personal permanent decisions you make for your own reasons. Anyone pushing their fears through trying to stop someone from getting a tattoo, is out of line (unless it is a parent or guardian of an underage person). Otherwise, people should get off of their soapbox rants and live their own lives.

I have 5 tattoos, all custom, all personal and unique. I got my 1st tattoo on my 50th birthday.
I have no problems about my tattoos. No one gives me a hard time or treats me differently because of them. And mine are quite visible - one is a large wrist bracelet , and one is a large image on my forearm.

If you don't get defensive, and smile and honestly answer peoples questions, you will find that most people are just curious. Everyone knows someone with tattoos or has some themselves.

luck~

Answer
I totally agree with Hasley Q. You're ideas are beyond awesome... are stars significant to you? I think that a female with all those star tats would be amazing, almost like a mythological being. Totally awesome.
Anyway I'd say go for it, so long as you wouldn't mind having those tattoos when you're older, or going through significant life events such as a wedding. Also you might want to wait on the hip/lower back stars until you are out of your childbearing age. I mention that because that area has a tendency to deform you tattoos when you're pregnant. Also 50% of the children born last year in the United States were not planned for. (There parents were not trying to concieve. I throuw in this statistic because many women who don't plan to have kids do.) Just something to think about.

Blonde highlighted hair keeps showing through hair after dyeing it black/darkbrown?

Yani

Hello lovely people of yahoo answers,

Back in 2012, I got blonde streaks in my hair (full head).
Ever since mid 2013, I've been dying it dark brown with or black SUPERMARKET BOX DYE. However, my highlights keep showing through the dyed colour!

For example, when I dye my hair black the highlights are a chestnut brown colour after a week or two because of the fading process. I do not want to cut my hair short because of the dye.

So I was just wondering if going to the salon and getting it dyed black will cover my highlights permanently? Is there any product other than dye they can use over my highlights? Is salon dye stronger than box dye?

Or even better, is there any box dye that can get rid of my highlights?

Answer
Nope. You've got too much chemicals on your hair!
SALON: Hair bleach burnt my scalp?
its been a week today that i had my mobile hair dresser come and do highlights for new year. it was blue powder and white cream stuff she mixed up to use. anyway she got it on my scalp which really burnt me! the foil was so hot she could barely touch it! she didn't rinse my hair off until she had finish the last two highlights and by that point the pain was so bad i was almost crying! she didn't even wash the bleach out of my hair properly and when blow drying it it just burnt me even more! that same day about an hour after she left it was still burning and noticed scabs forming and my hair sticking together. i did go to the doctors . . . . the doctors have said its not infected.

Google search: Salon hair dye horror stories. About 305,000 results (0.20 seconds) OR Google Salon Hair Dye Lawsuits. About 336,000 results (0.17 seconds) Dec. 2011
When it comes to hair care treatments, product use or visits to a salon or spa, the consumer must take responsibility to do their homework and be aware of all the risks involved.

Overlapping dye onto previously colored hair is what creates dullness and dryness. If you color your hair @ home or salon, let your roots grow out as long as you can stand, so the line of demarcation is easier to spot. Only run color through the lengths for five minutes to refresh the ends. To extend the time between touch-ups, use a gloss and deep -conditioning treatments. They will help smooth cuticles roughed up by daily wear & tear, and the hair will look shinier. ~ Harry Josh, hairstylist of the celebrities.

Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. They call that the ombre style.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.
> > > Hair dye chemicals linked to cancer
London, Feb 20, 2013 I've been saying that since 2009.
Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 36 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <â¨
Google: Teen 'feared she would die' after reaction to hair dye
The allergic reaction was caused by a well-known brand of semi-permanent hair dye Chloe used to turn her hair black for a Halloweâen party. . . . . called for beauty bosses to ban hair dye chemical PPD (para-phenylenediamine) from the shelves. 11-04-11

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time. Skin specialist Najjia Ashraf reveals that there are barely any dyes that donât contain this toxin; even the ones who claim they donât, are not being honest. âBig brands often escape the blame by suggesting they are ammonia-free. However, ammonia and PPD are two very different things and PPD is present in nearly every dye because it is what gives off the colour,â she explains.

Google: A 38-year old mother left in a coma after using hair dye. SHE DYED HER HAIR MANY TIMES BEFORE, USING THE SAME BRAND. The British woman who went into coma after a reaction to hair dye has died after a year. Updated 11-25-12. The woman suffered a heart failure, struggled for breath and became unconsciousness. Her family blamed paraphenylenediamine, a chemical found in hair colour. Her family has now called for paraphenylenediamine to be banned from home dye kits. In 2000, a 38-year-old Indian-origin woman from Birmingham, Narinder Devi, died after an allergic reaction to hair dye.

Permanent black hair dye is linked to causing leukemia and lymphomas.

Do you like back or rib tattoos?

bub #2 on

I have one tiny tattoo on my wrist and since having it done have wanted another.
I'm considering a lower back tattoo (tramp stamp) or a rib tattoo (down the side of my torso).
do you like these?
do you have any pictures of nice ones?
something feminine and maybe a little sexy without being too 'girly'

Answer
I have six butterflies. The first one is where a tramp stamp would be and they "fly" from there to my rib cage. They are pretty large, about 4 or 5 inches each. The lady who said that ribs hurt worst is lying. I fell asleep while he was doing my ribs and wanted to scream when he was doing the lowest butterfly. Neither looks trashy unless you get something that says "screw me" or something. Don't bother people that say that it does. Some jealous girl probably made up the whole tramp stamp name! I love the way vines look and I know a girl that got something similar to my style (from the lower back to ribs) that was words in the shape of a vine. It's very classy and you can't tell they are words until you get close. I love that idea and if you have something good enough to say, go for something like that. It's not pink flowers so it's not too girly but it is sexy and still feminine. She gets tons of compliments.Just google side tattoo and lower back tattoo to get ideas, then go from there.
Have fun and good luck.

Ideas for my next tattoo?

Kelly K

I am planning my next tattoo. I know that i want it to be on my ribs, and be very colorful. I also know I want to encorporate the quote "I'd like to think the best of me was still hiding up in my sleeve" into it. I was thinking maybe flowers, but I'm not sure.. Any ideas of what the actual tattoo could be/look like/pictures?

Answer
Cherry blossom designs always look good on the ribs...or possibly an ivy design so that it looks like it's growing up your side

Both have the potential to be really colourful, and I know those are both huge but it would be easy enough to cut them down or to find a smaller design if need be. You could then have the quote incorporated by placing it on one of the branches or even have it growing out of the ivy.

Hope I've been helpful, good luck with it!

Considering a chest tattoo?

Victoria

I've been considering getting a chest tattoo..I currently have 2 wrist tattoos and a small tattoo on my finger. This would be big step as far as tats go.

What I'm thinking of is the word, 'Dreamer' across my chest, in a fancy font. (nothing too flashy)

This is me: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=9tehiv&s=7

This is loads of pictures of me (for my etsy shop, haha) http://www.etsy.com/shop/missvioletlace

Do you think it would suit me?
I'm thinking the word 'Dreamer' because I am an artist, though I do like getting picture tattoos. I am undecided as of now, but I like the idea..what do you think?

(And does anyone have any idea of the cost?)

Answer
It its considered pretty normal to get a large tattoo after getting 2 or 3 small ones. The idea is good but be careful of the execution. Chest tattoos can be tricky.

You didn't say you were a model. Getting your chest tattooed can make or break a model depending how good it is. I know one woman whose entire career was made by a great chest tattoo. It catapulted her into cover girl status. I suggest you cantact mods4models@safe-mail.net
They are stylists for alt models. They are in Hollywood,CA Models fly in from around the world and consult with them, because screwing up a tattoo can screw up your career. They will make sure of the correct style, placement, artwork and execution of your tattoo is perfect. They are also great people to talk to if you are just getting into the biz.

Good Luck!

gettin another tattoo, any suggestions?

K'sMommy08

okay so i already have 3. one on my wrist ( a chinese symbol for mother ) one on my lower back ( tribal buttrfly ) && my newest one shooting starts on my side. i'm thinking about getting two smaller ones, where at i have no clue, and i also dont know what to get. i was thinking about getting a small picture of Dumbo ( disney movie ) somewhere. the reason is my brother past away a few yrs back and we was really close, and his nick name was dumbo i started calling him that and it just stuck. or something to do with his memory. i'm also thinking about gettin something for my daughter. maybe a portrait of her saying something about she will always be my baby. or maybe a saying or something. anyway, any ideas or pics would be great.
ps. i meant to say shooting STARS, not starts lol .. sorry
thanks so much, i'm so sorry about your kids : ( but thanks for liking my ideas.

i already have one on my side and i dont think two different things on each side would flow right. lol thanks though

Answer
I really don't recommend getting a tattoo relating to your baby, simply because if you get a portrait of her done and a little saying and you have more kids, they'll question why they're not tattooed on your body too.

I think the dumbo idea is nice, you could get it done on your other wrist, top of your arm or foot. I personally don't really like women with tattoos of things on their top arm.

Thought on second tattoo?

Deaf Cowgi

I am thinking about having a tattoo of a woman, a child a horse, a wolf and a eagle. I would like to put together as a story line. I am recovering from depression and a child, which I want a child but never happened and I am just divorce this year, (in my dream more of a little girl dressing in a dress). For strange reason I want to have a horse, wolf and an eagle on it as well. What kind of would be good to put together?

It is something like a story line of what I kind going through. if you have any suggestion, please feel free to put on there.. I am also gonna going to leave it up to the tattooist as well but any good suggestion or adivce would help...

Thanks

P.S. To some people who don't like tattoo or don't think that women should have it, Please don't lecture "Don't Do it" because I am a religion person or whatever. I have one tattoo on me of to cross and two roses. If don't like tattoo, don't answer my question on tattoos. thanks

Answer
This is a very neat idea you have.

You could always have a child holding the horse in a field.
with the eagle above.
A woman in the background with her arms out.
and a wolf sort of down in the grass.
Something along thoes lines i think would be cute.
Really try to mix all of the elemnts well.
Don't just throw them together, i think it would turn out better.
just mix the child and the horse or the child horse and the woman and everything else should fall into place.

You could have the same field thing and have horses running, and a woman holding a child.
with the eagle again in the sky and the wolf again in the tall back grass.

Hope this helps you and good luck with your new tattoo.

why does everyone seem to think that kat von d is the epitome of tattoo artists?

linz_b

yeah i agree she's talented, but she's not the best and she's ridiculously overpriced. what are your thoughts?
ray b: did you not read my entire Q? obviously not. i said that she is talented, and obviously you know nothing about tattooing either or else you would know there are a lot better artists than her out there =P

Answer
Tv drama there are probably hundreds if not a thousands of artists out there that are better than her she just happens to be on tv and that is the first time in their lives that many people have seen how tattooing has progressed over the years so now people equate her with that tattooing has been a sort of more underground shadowy business until her show and others came along so now a lot of the public who wasnt previously into tattooing sees her as an icon at least once a month i get some 18 year old girl who comes in my shop telling me about how she wants to go to LA to get tattooed by Kat I always laugn a bit and tell her there are artists in her town who are better cheaper and less booked than her. the smart ones learn something and the other ones who dont usually just wanted a tattoo to change theyre image or fit on or look cool or want a cool story to tell theyre friends what they would like to do.
