Do religious tattoos look "trashy" on a girl?

Milly

Well I've wanted one since I was 16. I'm 26 now. I've waited so long but i know what I want now. But do you think it would look really trashy? I am getting it on my arm so it is covered up easily.
Yeah I'm not religious. But my grandmother is, so I'm getting it in her memory.
Covered up easily for jobs.
I think I know they are forever. JosF. My grandmother has them and she is 88.
Why JosF. Are you saying 36 is old?
I guess we have different cultures... my grandmother has one, is fine with me getting one and none of us see a problem.

Answer
That is going to be a matter of personal aesthetics, really. I am fairly heavily tattooed and all of my ink is related to my religion. Some people are repulsed, others like them. The most important thing though is that /I/ like them. They are on my body and do not impact others one bit, so I do not worry what others think of them. If you want a tat, get one. If you are overly concerned with what others think about it, don't get one. At least not until you get to the age where another person's opinion of what is on your body no longer matters to you.

tattoos?????

ive got 6 tattoos after my first one i had one every month for 4 months then had one wen my baby was bored. so wat you think addictive and great or anti social and should be hidden and not done at all
i meant two lol
after baby was born...i not sure how to edit the question lol
they are all tattoos tht represent something about me

Answer
Take a break baby. I have 2 tats. They are meaningful to me and subtle. But i do like body piercing.

You are behaving in an addictive fashion having so many so fast. You might be smart to stop for awhile. Tattoos are expensive and you have a baby. Consider that aspect of it. at your age you might think these are grand, but you truly have NO IDEA what your mindset will be in 10 or 20 years. I know a girl 26 and she has 24 tats she got when she was 16, 17. There is nothing she can wear where you cannot see them because her taste was quite different from what it was back then.

My daughter at that time got 3 tats. Her thing is piercing. Mine is too.

I will tell you how it is addictive. It hurts, of course. With both practices they are sticking needles into your flesh.

Anti social only if you have "F#ck off" tattooed across your face!

There is nothing like the first tattoo. It's like, all of a sudden, you're part of something bigger than you are. The pain, the rush, the hum of the machine, it's like a having a religious experience

Like any other addictive act, you have to exercise some control and set limits.

Wait a minimum of two years between tattoos.

Learn how to meditate, so you can go to the mental state you found on the tattoo table. Try to determine whether it's the mental state you crave, or having more tattoos. Use our principles to design personal tattoos.

Last, but not least, if you find that you are not going to stop getting tattoos, plan out your body art. You want to be a painting, not a billboard

Some people find getting a tattoo will snap them out of a depression for a while. The human body "rewards" you with endorphins to deal with pain. So the tattoo usually hurts only for the first 5 - 10 minutes and then you either feel numb in that area or you feel very good all of a sudden.

I always feel like I accomplished something really good after getting a tattoo, and that's a good feeling. Of course, being rewarded with a beautiful tattoo is an even better feeling. But I can get that same feeling with a fresh or enlarged piercing so that is where I go with it now.

Those endorphins are mighty powerful.

Honestly, most people do end up getting more than one. I personally don't see anything wrong with that. A lot of people feel off-balance with just one tattoo. In my opinion there are three major rewards to getting tattooed.

1) "Runners high" or endorpins after enduring something stressful like getting a tattoo or running 4 miles.

2) The feeling of accomplishing something, enduring stress towards the higher end of a beautiful design on your skin forever.

3) Attention from people, in which the tattoo is appreciated for it's beauty or "coolness".

which tattoo should i get for my first tattoo? my parents are perfectly fine with me having one.?

Courtney

i am planning on getting a tattoo for my 17th birthday which is in the end of august. Here are my ideas..
1. the word freedom tattooed on my inner left wrist with the top of the m becoming a bird and joining a flock of other birds that look as though they are flapping away.. it's going to symbolize me as a person being free, growing up.. it's also going to symbolize me being free to do what i want and not being afraid to hide who i am.. i have a problem with caring to much how people think.. also the birds flying away are representing me leaving my home and my family behind when i go to college.
2. i want the phrase "no day but today" tattooed on my right inner wrist.. i love this phrase, it comes from my favorite musical rent.. and i love what it stands for.. it means to live your life to the fullest because you never know when your time might come.. i will constantly remind to take the most out of life and to live in the moment and have no regrets. Under the phrase i want a dandelion tattoo with some of its seeds becoming birds (silhouettes) .. (i like birds :) ) The dandelion/ birds will symbolize freedom, happiness, hope, and wishes. It will also serve as a reminder to enjoy every moment i am blessed to have, as i only have one life to live it.. I think that dandelion would go perfectly with the phrase... Oh i am left-handed if that makes any difference.. And i'll probably end up getting both done eventually, i just don't know which one i want done first.. i love them both equally <3..

Answer
I got my first tattoo when i was 17. Im now 19 and i've got 4, planning my 5th for my friends 1 year anniversary of death. Anyway, the only tattoo that i regret getting is the one that i got when i was 17. I was just so into the idea of having a tattoo before the legal 18 age that i didnt really think it through. Its not an awful tattoo, it says Courage with a star, which i liked as i was always bullied and a very fearful person. I thought that seeing the word every day on my wrist would some how make me courageous. Im not. When i have children, im getting a rose to cover courage and having their names coming from it, so its not all bad. Anyway, im just trying to say, think it through good and proper. I've got tattoos on both my wrists, my top back and back of kneck. Like i said, courage is all that i regret, as the others are memorial tattoos and on back of my kneck is mum and dad. They've got strong meaning. Of course, Freedom to you seems like a strong meaning at the moment, but there is nothing about life that lets you be free. Sure, your going to collage and leaving home, but you'll return one day and be stuck in a job like everyone else. Thats not freedom, thats life. I do however like the birds. Yes, it is incredibly common, but i happen to like it. Im getting a single dove on the year anniversary of my best friends death. I like birds too lol. Anyway, the second idea is, to me, far more powerful. Your exactly right, every day is a blessing. No day but today. I would recommend getting this. Along with the dandelion and birds, i think it sounds lovely. It has a better meaning than the first. And who knows, maybe you will end up getting both, but i would personally rethink the first. I was very excited to get courage. Yet i regret it, as i was a 17 year old girl wanting to fit in with all of the other 'cool kids'. So just be certain. Remember that they will be will you until the day that you die. Could be 2 years. 20 years. 80 years. Just think about it, an 80 year old with tattoos. Honestly, i try not to given my tattoos, but i know that if im lucky enough to live to 80, atleast my tattoos will have strong meaning to me, and not something i did for the hell of it, as courage will be covered by then lol.
As for the pain of a tattoo, it will hurt. After about a minute the pain becomes bearable. Dont bother with the cream. I did for courage and felt the lot of it. Just a waste of money.
Good luck. The truth is, some people really like tattoos. Whilst others think of them as disgusting things that'll ruin your body. I dont care what people think of my tattoos. I love them! Im just hoping that when it comes down to meeting the right man, he likes tattoos too. It'd suck if i couldnt be with someone i loved because of them. Also, job interviews are another thing. Alot of places dont hire people who have visable tattoos. Oh well, im screwed. Haha. Like you said, have no regrets. I'd regret not having my in memory tattoos. They may only be words, but words that i got permanently on my skin. To some people, a tattoo doesnt show that you love somebody. But when that somebody has gone and you decide to put their name onto your skin for the rest of your life, to me, thats love.

Poll: I have a theory to why women are crazy?

It

Well back then billions of years ago when dinosaurs existed, women always stayed at home.

and I was playing my Sims, and the wife turned crazy because she didn't get out of the house often.

My conclusion.

Answer
dinosaurs live underground.
zombies are people who go into ufo ships to be healed by "aliens".
you live only once. after you die, you either go to hell or heaven.
different creatures like phoenixes, dinosaurs, monsters really exist, but be careful because demons know about these creatures and will mix in their lies to draw you away from God.
white magic=black magic=asking demons for help=spells=really bad for your future.
meditation leads to demon possession.
pagan gods/goddesses are demons. all demons are male though.
tattoos give rights to demons to bother you.
women, who had giants as kids with demons (anunaki), were cursed by God to become sirens.
masons, who built tower of babel to fight God, were cursed by God to become apemen and elephantmen.
vampires/werewolves are high-level witches who are completely demon-possessed.
aliens are demons. ghosts are demons. demons move the ouija board too.
demons show pictures to psychics/mediums/seers/astrologers. tarot cards and crystal ball are tricks to fool the eye.
80 foot dinosaurs will come out from underground through sinkholes and lakes, and start eating people up; antichrist is a red-eye gay man with white powder on his face; mark of the antichrist is a green electronic nwo tattoo with sixes that is given by lasers when people stretch their hands to receive a new small gray world passport; fallen angels=demons=aliens in ufos=ascended masters=ghosts=channeled entities=dead relatives during seances=spirit guides=pagan gods=greys=automatic writing spirits, etc.; atlantis (where aliens make humans their puppets) is underneath mariana trench; china will attack russia; don't worship the antichrist; don't take "the chip, world passport, and nwo tattoo"; don't go into a ufo ship under any circumstances

What's your weapon of choice for a zombie apocalypse?

Q. Mine would be a fork, knife and spoon helmet.

Should i read the girl with the dragon tattoo or the hunger games?

Shell Bell

Both sound good but which might be better??

Answer
It's funny, in my attempt to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo I ended up reading the Hunger Games (my friend had both series and couldn't find any of her books after she moved, I went over to help her look because she was taking forever, we didn't find what I was looking for so she sent me home with The Hunger Games)
I really enjoyed it, the first book is a little strange in it's set up, all of the drama and excitement in the first half is at the beginning, so then it seems really dull for a bit, but once that games start the rest of the series keeps that momentum, with a few short-ish exception spots, that are necessary for the plot. It's a YA series so I it was simply written and easy to read quickly. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is next on my list, I would guess that the first book alone in that series has more words than all three of the Hunger Games books. So, if I were you, I would read that first, it's a good series that you'll probably finish quickly, then move on to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
Hope this helped!
EDIT
Just wanted to add that after reading these responses, I can't wait to read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! But I stand by my answer, read the shorter, easier one first.

Should I read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo?

DrOaOe

Is it good? Is the series good? I'm very mature for my age(14) and I'm not worried about the graphic nature of the book, I've read similar ones. I just was wondering if they are good and worse reading. Lisbeth Salander seems like a very intriguing character.

Answer
First off, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is one of my favorite books and I'm around your age, too.
Lisbeth Salander is my literary idol.
Book-wise, the book starts off a little bit boring...well, not quite boring, but rather statistical. You should know that it takes place in Sweden and that there's a lot of references to Sweden and similar Swedish names. After you I got around half-way through, though, I could not put it down! The first book is an extremely good mystery. My favorite of the three books in the series is the last one (The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest) because there's a lot of action.
So, yeah, I would recommend it to anyone who can get over all the sex, lesbians, sadists, rapists, and murderers.

Samoan Tattoo Ideas for Woman?

ILoveDogs

I'm part Samoan on my mother's side and I was wondering what would be a good tattoo idea to get tattooed on myself. I looked up Samoan tattoos and they are so large! I just want something small that when people ask what it means, I say it's a Samoan tattoo. Thanks for any websites that I can look at or ideas!!

Answer
I would suggest you be authentic do the large Samoan tattoo. There would be no better way to reflect the pride you have in your heritage and to honor your ancestors. A lot of detail would be lost in a small version, and it would not represent the culture to its fullest.

Tattoo Ideas, please?

Shorrtt_st

I'm seventeen and I have been really really interested in tattoos. I want one so, so bad, but I don't want to get a tattoo just to have one, I want one that has meaning behind it and a purpose for being there. But I'm having trouble thinking of what I want.. I kind of want a script , but then again, a design might be more interesting. I either want a script about surviving my childhood (I went through abuse, neglect, poverty and life has gotten much better now[: ) or a design or script (or mixture) describing my love for music that kept me going through the toughest times. I'm not sure on placement.

Any ideas on short scripts or designs ? And opinions on placement ? (It's my first tattoo , by the way)

Thanks, any and all help is appreciated. [:

Answer
First wait until 18 to get a professional one done. The tattoo you want is the Phoenix.

The phoenix is a bird rising from the flaming ashes. The bird represents you. The flaming ashes represent purification and transformation through fire and adversity. The phoenix is a symbol of rebirth and the resurrection, leaving the old world for the new world of the spirit, dying and rising again, reborn. It basically symbolizes the victory of life over severe adversity.

On women, they look perfect on a chest. You can add musical notes around the outside of the Phoenix for your love of music. Good luck. It should be a spectacular tattoo.

need some relationship advice?

its a secr

i have been with my current partner for 10 years, we are engaged with a 2yr old child.
my reason for not being married yet is financial and situational. we have spent 9 of the 10 years basically in debt and needing to live with other people.

we met in computer 3d class when we were 20. we both have artistic backgrounds.

the main source of our problems at the moment is that she feels I'm not the same person i was when we met, i have almost nothing to do with art anymore and my focus is 'money'. which is true.

from my point of view, art was never going to buy us a home let alone keep the debt collectors at bay. so two years ago i quit my graphic design job and asked my father to teach my his trade. i now (as of xmas 2010) have been working for myself and making decent money. i've managed to pay off a lot of debt, buy a decent, safe and reliable family car, update some needed household items etc.. the payoff however has been my time.

i work a job that is either all or nothing, being that if work is there, i need to take it cos it may not be there tomorrow. for example my last two weeks have gone like this, i worked 11 days straight, each day starting early (7-8am) and the earliest i would get home would have been around 7pm, 2am being the latest, only to get up the next morning and do it all again. i just took friday and saturday off, and i used it to take my parter to the movies, my child to the doctors and then saturday went shopping with them both. today being sunday i had to work again. and the cycle continues.

she feels i'm no longer the person she met, being that she met an artist.
i feel that since we now have a child it is my responsibility to provide for my family, i need to be able to be self sufficient to be able to provide all the things that families need etc.. I'm trying real hard to be able to balance this job with family life, as if my family goes then so does my reason for working so hard.

I'm trying to work 4 days a week (since the days are so long) and give myself a day to recover (as the job is quite physically demanding) and that allows 2 days to dedicate to my family and help around the house.

my main gripe with her is that she has basically given up, she demands a lot from me (time wise), she expects that when I'm home, having a day off work that i will take the load of the house and give her a break, when i really need the break myself.

she spends most of her time on an online computer game, she enjoys video editing so she uses the game to create videos.
she basically neglects most of the house hold things such as cleaning and cooking. I'm not a guy that expects the misses to cook and clean etc.. but i do believe that it's a team thing, and if one person is bringing home the bacon the other contributes by helping out with the other stuff.

she hates cooking and after work i have to cook most of the time, to which i enjoy but not after a 12 hour plus day.
dishes are never done, clothes are never washed⦠i don't understand why helping out is so difficult.

she does look after our 2yr old, quite well i might add.
we placed our child in daycare 2 days a week, but she uses those days to play her online game uninterrupted.
i feel she spends too much time on her game and not enough time with day to day things.

she feels my expectations of a stay at home mum are too high, whereas i don't feel they are.
she feels i use the excuse "i work" as a trump card that she can't top, so she doesn't bother at all.

she also feels like she has lost her own sense of herself, in that, i have all the 'control' in the household and she just bows down and lets me have my way.
to which i disagree as everything I'm doing is for her, she just doesn't see it the same way.

she is trying to get back her own 'power', one way in which she is doing this is by getting a tattoo.
when we first started going out she mentioned she wanted to get a big arse tattoo down her arm. now unfortunately she's a heavy set woman and extremely pale skinned and as an artist i just know it won't look any good.

but on top of that, i have a phobia about permanent tattoo on one's skin. and i asked her to promise me that whilst we were together that she'd agree to never get a tattoo, because i can't handle it. (i also made mention that smoking was a deal breaker).

might sound harsh or some people might say controlling, but i feel that if i don't like asian women, then i simply don't date asian women, hence i hate tattoo's and smoking so i let her know before we got too serious.

so one night when she broke down, she made mention she has no control, not even if she gets a tattoo or not.
so i said, ok, fine.. you can do whatever you like. but you know how i feel about them.

so she is now deciding to get one, and looking for one. i've decided to help her find a good o
so she is now deciding to get one, and looking for one. i've decided to help her find a good one, cos i figure if she is going to get one it better be a damn good one. i know she wants a large one, that the world can see.. but i really need it to be something i can't see. (out of sight out of mind type of deal).
she wants its on her chest/shoulder.. basically above her breast but below her shoulder. and to me that's something i will see a lot of. i feel it will be a turn off when being intimate and could lead to further relationship problems.

i mentioned on her inner ankle (trying to keep it small and out of sight) she's thinking her wrist if not her chest, or her upper back. but again, when you hug/spoon with someone at night, it's again something that will repulse me.

so yeah, that's her way of being "in control" i guess.

i don't know what to do.

Answer
My dear friend, accept my congratulations as you are a wonderful husband material.Any woman can be proud of you.And it is always fate for such good man that he does not get good understanding partner.I am with you for not allowing a tattoo. It disfigures a woman.Even I hate a tattooed women. It may look odd and unusual but my suggestion is,as you are not married her,you can leave her.You wil be able to work and adjust your time, including rest, freely.Your mind will be at peace and without any tension. You can provide for her and your child. And anyhow you do not have house,

Your opinions on tattoo placement?

TheGothicW

I'm trying to figure out where I should get my next tattoo (a Cheshire Cat in black and grey). The ability to cover it isn't much of a concern since I passed that point when I got my forearm tattooed. I'm quite fond of the idea of getting it on my stomach along the curve of my hip bone (Example: http://www.ratemyink.com/images/ul/278/Vines-and-Flowers-tattoo-27869.jpeg). I know many people think "Oh my god don't get tattooed there," so what's your opinion of that placement? I'm 5'9 and 130 lbs, I do A LOT to keep my figure, and having kids is out of the question for me...
I also like the idea of getting it on my ribs (http://www.tattoostime.com/images/234/compass-tattoo-on-rib-side.jpg), or my lower back (http://tattoos-and-art.com/wp-content/gallery/lower-back/side.jpg).

What are some other places that come to mind? What are some possible pros and cons about those placements? Also, I eventually want to get a back piece, so I wouldn't want it on my shoulder or anything.

I know that it's ultimately my decision to make, but hell, maybe you guys could give me some ideas :)

One more question that's somewhat unrelated to the preceding one, what's your opinion of chest tattoos on women? (http://www.tattoo-pics.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/chest-tattoos.jpg) ...not necessarily the tattoo itself, just the placement of it.
Damn, it appears that none of the links I posted are correct -_- sorry about that. I think I explained the hip bone and chest tattoos well enough already
by "on my ribs" I mean on my side, around where my bra strap would be
and by "my lower back" I mean where a "tramp stamp" might be, but higher up and to the side. It wouldn't cover the entire width of my back either.
Sorry about the links :-/

Answer
Tattoos are super cool! But chest tattoos arent right for women. In my opinion. I feel like placing on right above your cleavage is just asking for attention and might draw in the wrong kind of people. And Please do not get it on your lower back or chest. No tramp stamps gurll. I think your hip bone might be a good idea! I think full back pieces are also really cool

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lpzsr3n99a1qfk6vyo1_500.jpg I think this one is really cool!!!
Or the cheshire cat going from your stomach to your back. Almost like climbing up you would look super cool

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8wuwr5UCM1r37qzbo1_500.jpg
Chandelier tattoos are really cool for backs. I would totally do a cheshire cat hanging from a chandelier on your back that owud look sick!!! Also pick the right tattoo artist. Never try going for the cheapest tattoo when its something that will be on your body for the rest of your life!

any women with stomach tattoos that have given birth?

justina

i am thinking about getting a tattoo above my pubic bone, so it would be JUST covered by my pants.

has anyone had a tattoo there and later had a child? what happened to the tattoo?? i expect there to be some stretching/stretch marks and have no problem with that, but is the design so stretched that you can't tell what it is?

cheers!!

Answer
i have a tattoo on my hip bone too, well, 3 actually, but, i didnt get my last two there until after my son came. but, i have a small tribal rose on my hip bone/lower abdomen, and it didnt stretch at all. i mean, when i was pregnant, i couldnt even see it. friends would tell me its bigger b/c my belly grew bigger, but, after i had my son, it went back to regular size. no stretch marks or anything. and some people say use all this lotion and stuff and you wont get stretch marks.....thats not true. a friend of mine used baby oil, vitamin e lotion, cocoa butter, and all that good junk religiously, and her belly looks like a chinese road map. no tattoos though. when you have tattoos on your belly, and get pregnant, you have a 50/50 chance. i took that chance and came out lucky. some women, not so much. and after you have a child, dont think getting a tattoo over stretch marks will hide them, cuz they wont. it will only make it stand out more. good luck on your decision.

If you saw this quote tattooed on a girl ...?

Sky

would you think its trashy? i found this quote that i absolutely love i'm looking to get it tattooed in small cursive lettering like on my realllllly lower back to the right side ... so it can be hidden . if you saw it would you think the girls a slut lol ? its about living in the moment ... "You have to wake up a virgin each morning"
haha yea i know but i'm not gunna walk around showing off my ass when i'm 65 =)

Answer
I actually really love that quote! I would just think you were living in the moment(but judging on placement I probably wouldn't see it lol)

If its something you really want I would wait a couple months just to be 100% sure.

quote to add to my tattoo? girl?

Anita

have the everlasting rose from the beauty and beast movie but since it wouldnt look right making it too long to cover from the top of my shoulder to my elbow ive decided to add a quote from beauty and beast to complete it.
it will be right below it in cursive pretty font
with the candle stick on one side and the clock on the other to frame in the quote.

so which quote:
Tales as old as time, song as old as rhyme
Tales as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Beauty and the Beast
Much deeper than snow...the strongest love we'll know we'll ever know
Hope is the greatest of the gifts we'll receive
beauty is found within
for beauty is found within
not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within

feel free to add a different quote (prefer from beauty and beast)
so what do you think would look the best?

also this is all the space i have to use for the writing:
its 3" tall probably around 6" wide
not including the side of my arm for the clock and candlestick

so are the longer quotes too long to make look comfortable and not smashed in?
which one do you think will be best?
thanks

im not just getting this because its cool or whatever heres the reason behind the tat:
i got a tattoo from a disney movie because when i was 3 i walked in on my dad with a knife to my moms throat. he yelled for me to leave i told my sister who was 5 she called police. police told me i could take 1 item with me well at 3 my favorite thing was beauty and beast. since then i have moved around from place to place and have had a really rough life so this movie has really helped me. the enchanted rose means so much to me; thats why i got it. not just because of a movie. you can even google it the story behind the rose is the reason so many have it tattooed

Answer
From what I understand, the enchanted rose means time, not love? (i havent seen Beauty and the Beast in a veryyyyy long time lol) um, so i guess since he has till the last petal falls to find someone to love him, or else he stays that way forever, maybe something that represents what saved you. i apologize in advance since i cant think of any philosophical quotes on this but search for strength quotes. I am very sorry for what you witnessed as a child. I can relate more than youd expect. (not with that specific situation, but if you change a knife with something else and me being your older sister then its almost the same). Anyway, think of something like that. I did try to find something to maybe give you for a starting off point but everything is about jesus and god and im not sure your religious stance or if its even relevant. Good luck to you. :)

When you see a tattoo on a girls lower back, what do you think ?

millionair

I'm wanting to get a phrase tattooed, and was going to get it across my stomach but don't want to deal with the whole "If I get pregnant my tattoo could get distorted" thing. My friend suggested that I just do it on my lower back, but I'm afraid everyone will just think I'm a whore :/ I don't wear low jeans & short tops, I dress appropriately.

SO, if you saw a girl that dressed modestly, but saw she had a tattoo on her lower back (by like seeing her in a bathing suit or something idk), would you think she's a "tramp" ?

Answer
I think the "answer" to your question is going to be 50/50 and all 100% opinion. Everyone feels differently about things like this but its up to you to decide which opinions actually matter to you. Remember a few things - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, you know that you are not a trashy/slutty girl and you have the right to express yourself freely through art in the form of a tattoo anywhere on your body that you choose. You shouldnt have to worry about what someone else thinks. If it is going to make you self concious, don't do it. Tattoos are permanent and the last thing you want to regret. I obviously do not think a lower back tattoo categorizes a person... most of the standard opinion stems from the kind of person/the way a girl carries herself. You seem like a level headed girl, just think it through..... and through.

important tattoo question!?

chelsixbel

so i turn 18 next month and i am getting my first tattoo! and i know if you go in the sun it will fade so you are suppose to put like the highest spf sunblock on it. like 50 or higher. but i'm still in high school and when it comes to dances my mom makes me tan in a tanning bed cause she hates me being pale.

but does spf 50 or high work in a tanning bed or will my tattoo fade still?
and i tan easily so i don't tan very long just like two months out of the whole year.

please help!
its not like she forces me to get into a tanning bed. she just likes me to look nice when i go to these stupid dances. don't judge my mom.
thanks for trying but me taping stuff on my body or wrapping it wouldnt work cause the tattoo is going to be on my back and the tape would cause tan lines.
honestly people i didn't ask you for your opinion. i just asked about the spf sunblock nothing else! and i do not use tanning beds regularly. i go for prom and thats it and i go maybe two months out of twelve. and thats not two months straight. like a few days here then a few here.

god just answer the question not tell me a tattoo isn't right for me. thank you!

Answer
SPF 50 or higher will protect your tattoo from the intense rays of a tanning bed. Another girl suggested to use a high spf chap stick, and that would work too. Its good you are worrying about the integrity of your tattoo. I avoid the tanning beds altogether to keep mine in tip top shape. You make a choice when you get a tattoo - to be pale and have great tattoos or to be tan with faded tattoos.

Tattoo a Sin?

Jessie J

Is getting a tattoo a sin for christians

Answer
NO, THE VERSE IN THE BIBLE THAT SPEAKS OUT AGAINST TATTOOING IS LEVITICUS 19:28. LEVITICUS IS LOCATED IN THE "TORAH". THE TORAH IS THE FIRST FIVE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE OR THE "LAW BOOKS" THEY WERE WRITTEN BY MOSES (A PROPHET FROM GOD SENT TO FREE THE ISRAELITES FROM EGYPT). IN THE BIBLE THERE ARE TWO BASIC PARTS, THE OLD TESTAMENT AND THE NEW TESTAMENT. THE OLD TESTAMENT IS THE STORY OF GODS CREATION OF MAN. AFTER GOD CREATED MAN, ADAM AND EVE (THE FIRST PEOPLE GOD CREATED) SINNED AND FELL FROM GRACE. AFTER THE FALL OF MAN FROM GRACE MAN BEGAN TO MULTIPLY AND SIN ENGULFED THE WORLD. GOD SAW THIS SIN AND WANTED TO STOP IT. SO GOD DECIDE TO DESTROY THE EARTH AND START ANEW. NOAH WAS THEN CHOSEN TO KEEP THE HUMAN RACE ALIVE. GOD HAD NOAH BUILD AN ARK (BIG BOAT) WHICH HE FILLED WITH TWO OF EVERY CREATURE. NOAH, HIS WIFE, SONS, AND THEIR WIVES WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE SAVED FROM THE GREAT FLOOD. AFTER THE FLOOD NOAH SENT HIS SONS OFF AND THEY CREATED DIFFERENT RACES OF PEOPLE.
THE DIFFERENT LANGUAGES COME FROM THE TOWER OF BABEL. GOD COMMANDED THAT PEOPLE SPREAD OUT AND POPULATE THE EARTH, BUT THERE WAS A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO DECIDED TO DEFY GOD BY BUILDING A HUGE TOWER THAT WOULD REACH GOD. GOD WAS DISPLEASED WITH THIS SO HE CONFUSED THEIR LANGUAGES SO THEY COULD NO LONGER COMMUNICATE. IT WORKED BECAUSE THE PEOPLE THEN SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
AFTER ALL OF THIS PEOPLE STARTED TO DEVELOP THEIR OWN RELIGIONS AND CULTURES. FROM ALL THIS CAME A "NEOLITHIC" SOCIETY (PRE CIVILIZATION BUT AFTER RECORDED HISTORY). PEOPLE BEGAN TO SPLIT OFF AND THE HUMAN RACE BECAME DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT RACES. IN THE OLD TESTAMENT GOD KEEPS RECORD OF THE JEWISH RACE (THE CHOSEN PEOPLE), THEIR HISTORY, FUTURE, TROUBLES AND TRIALS. THE OLD TESTAMENT ALSO MAKES WAY FOR THE NEW TESTAMENT OR THE "COMING OF JESUS CHRIST". SO IN A NUTSHELL THE OLD TESTAMENT IS ABOUT THE JEWISH RELIGION, HOW IT WAS FORMED, ITS LAWS, RULES, AND HOW IT WAS KEPT TOGETHER.
IN THE OLD JEWISH RELIGION PEOPLE HAD TO FOLLOW A STRICT SET OF LAWS TO FALL INTO FAVOR WITH GOD. THE RULES ARE SO RIDGED THAT NO PERSON COULD EVER FOLLOW THEM. THE RULES RANGE FROM HOW AND WHAT YOU EAT, TO HOW TO TRIM YOUR HAIR AND BEARD. GOD WANTED HIS PEOPLE TO BE DIFFERENT AND DISTINGUISHED FROM ALL OTHER CULTURES. HE DID THIS IN PART BY THE RULES THAT HE LAID DOWN FOR THE JEWS. GODS GOAL WAS TO KEEP A SOLID BLOOD LINE FOR THE COMING OF JESUS CHRIST.
THE NEW TESTAMENT DEALS WITH THE COMING OF CHRIST, HIS LIFE, DEATH, THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES, PROPHECY FOR THE FUTURE, AND SALVATION.
NOW WE HAVE A BASIC VIEW OF THE BIBLE AND HOW IT WAS WRITTEN, LETS LOOK AT THE SPECIFIC VERSE THAT SPEAK ABOUT TATTOOING. THE VERSE IS LEVITICUS 19:28, IT SAYS " 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD ." CLEARLY IT STATES THAT YOU ARE NOT TO GET TATTOOED, BUT WHY? IN THE TIMES THAT THIS WAS WRITTEN PEOPLE IN SURROUNDING CULTURES (PAGAN) WOULD CUT AND TATTOO THEMSELVES FOR THE DEAD, AND TO GAIN FAVOR WITH PAGAN gODS. GOD DID NOT WANT HIS PEOPLE TO BE CONFUSED WITH EVERYDAY SOCIETY SO HE DID NOT WANT THEM TO TATTOO THEMSELVES. NOW, WE CAN NOT PICK JUST ONE VERSE OUT OF THE BIBLE AND NOT LOOK AT WHAT SURROUNDS IT. PLEASE READ THE EXCEPT BELOW AND THERE WILL BE MORE COMMENTARY BELOW IT.
LEVITICUS 19: 19-28
19 " 'Keep my decrees.
" 'Do not mate different kinds of animals.
" 'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed.
" 'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.
20 " 'If a man sleeps with a woman who is a slave girl promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment. Yet they are not to be put to death, because she had not been freed. 21 The man, however, must bring a ram to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting for a guilt offering to the LORD . 22 With the ram of the guilt offering the priest is to make atonement for him before the LORD for the sin he has committed, and his sin will be forgiven.
23 " 'When you enter the land and plant any kind of fruit tree, regard its fruit as forbidden. [2] For three years you are to consider it forbidden [3] ; it must not be eaten. 24 In the fourth year all its fruit will be holy, an offering of praise to the LORD . 25 But in the fifth year you may eat its fruit. In this way your harvest will be increased. I am the LORD your God.
26 " 'Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it.
" 'Do not practice divination or sorcery.
27 " 'Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.
28 " 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD .
IF WE LOOK AT THE EXCERPT WE SEE THAT A MAN CAN NOT SHAVE HIS BEARD, EAT HIS FRUIT FROM A TREE HE PLANTS FOR FOUR YEARS, PLANT TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF PLANTS IN HIS GARDEN, OR WEAR CLOTHING MADE FROM TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF CLOTH. SO WHAT DO YOU SAY THE NEXT TIME A PERSON CRITICIZES YOU FOR A TATTOO? YOU TELL THEM THEIR POLYESTER BLEND SHIRT WILL SEND THEM STRAIGHT TO HELL. THESE LAWS WERE INTENDED TO HELP THE PEOPLE GROW AND TO KEEP THEM SEPARATE. IN OLD DAYS YOU COULD PICK OUT A JEW BY THE WAY THEY DRESSED, SPOKE, AND ATE. THE LAWS FOR FARMING WERE WRITTEN TO MAKE THEIR HARVEST LARGER. BACK THEN THE PEOPLE DID NOT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE THEY HAVE NOW AND THEY NEEDED GUIDANCE.
WHEN CHRIST CAME HE FULFILLED THE OLD LAW, NO ONE COULD LIVE UP TO THE LAW SO GOD PROVIDED A SACRIFICE THAT WOULD ATONE FOR ALL SINS. THE SACRIFICE WAS HIMSELF. THE BIBLE SAYS "FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD". THIS MEANS THAT NO MAN OR WOMAN THAT HAS EVER LIVED IS SINLESS EXCEPT JESUS HIMSELF. GOD LOVES US ALL AND HE SHOWS THIS THROUGH JESUS AND HIS SACRIFICE. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL, ON THE THIRD DAY JESUS ROSE FROM THE DEAD TO CONQUER SIN, HELL, AND DAMNATION. WE HAVE A LIVING GOD, A POWERFUL GOD, A GOD OF LOVE, THIS ALL POWERFUL OMNIPRESENT GOD WANTS YOU. HE WANTS YOU TO BE HAPPY, TO FIND EVERLASTING PEACE AND HAPPINESS. GOD LOVES US SO MUCH THAT HE GAVE HIMSELF FOR YOU. WHAT DOES HE ASK IN RETURN? ALL GOD WANTS FROM YOU IS THAT YOU ACCEPT HIM. IT IS CALLED SALVATION. GOD ASKS THAT YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOU PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR, AFTER THIS HE ASKS THAT YOU PRAY TO HIM AND TELL OTHERS ABOUT HIM. SO WHAT IS SALVATION, HOW DO YOU GET IT? SIMPLY START TO PRAY, TELL GOD THAT YOU ARE A SINNER (YOU REALLY HAVE TO BELIEVE IT) AND THAT YOU NOW SEE THAT JESUS IS REAL AND ALIVE, THEN ASK GOD TO FORGIVE YOU OF SIN.

People hating on tattoos!?

Nicole M

I am just wondering why so many people are on here calling guys and girls trashy and ghetto for having or wanting tattoos. I think they're beautiful and always have...I'm even getting one for a late 20th birthday present. What makes them trashy/ghetto? Why are so many people opposed to them? I don't want fighting or arguing lol just...curious as to why some of you would come on here and leave comments like that. Even if the artwork is STUNNING would you still hate them?
I'm also a christian...I've looked up and researched this before I decided to go and get one. I know people will be like GOD HATES TATTOOS but I recommend researching a bit. :) mine is something I hope brings Glory to God so that is probably not an argument ill be taking part of if someone comments with something like that.

Answer
There is a section in the Bible that states God says we aren't supposed to mark our bodies. People seem to think thats speaking specifically about tatts, well, it's talking about piercings too. Even regular pierced ears but Revelations 19:16 states "And He had upon His vesture and His right thigh a name written King of Kings and Lord of Lords". So Jesus had a tattoo and I find it hard to believe that God is really all that pressed about tattoo's as long as they aren't done in excess!! Enjoy yours!!

True or false: tattoos on women are unattractive?

Dan

Answer
I think tattoos on anyone are unattractive, and I include mine that have been there for over 30 years. I'll be really glad when the current obsession ends, where I live it's hard to find any girl over 14 or 15 who does not have at least one tattoo, facial piercings and stretched ear lobes, all of which, in my opinion, look like .... (insert your own expletive) and will only become even uglier with time.

Female - Placement of Tattoo?

personal.r

I am considering getting a tattoo, not too big but i want it to be in a place that is easily covered but i can show it if i want. I was considering somewhere on my back or ankle....first tattoo...

Also, which is better, tattoos with colour or b/w ones?

Answer
What we see the most for woman tattoos is tattoos on ankles, lower back, neck, wrists and behind the ears. there are subtle and easily hiddenwith clothes or watch for your wrist (for the neck and ears I'm assuming you have hair) and you can always show them off.

For color, It always depends on the size and details of the tattoo. A small tattoo with outlines and color, depending on where you get it, can end up pretty disastrous. You have to think ahead, meaning you will age and your skin will change too. If you do color big chances are you'll need more touchups than with B/W. Make sure you sit down with your tattoo artist and talk about your ideas before making a final decision. He/she is the best one to help you make a good decision and get something you can be proud to show off. Also make sure to check his/her portfolio prior to the meeting to make sure you like the style of art.

Good luck and enjoy your experience!
