I'm considering getting a tattoo of a certain character from something and I have the option to get it soon but I've only recently decided on who. But what I want to know is how long did it take for you to choose the tattoo you currently have? Do you regret it? Do you have an recommendations on how to choose a tattoo? I would love to hear stories as to why you chose the tattoo you did.

Don't choose a tattoo from the rack, always try and design it yourself and then get the tattoo artist to draw it up properly for you....any good tattoo artist can do this, they don't need to use stencils.

My favourite tattoo is something I have on my wrist that I designed, the tattoo artist liked it so much he wanted to do it bigger somewhere else on my body where he could get the size to do it bigger, he then offered to give me a free tattoo on my wrist of anything I wanted. it was special to me and I wanted it on my wrist so I could see it everyday....it took me a month working with him to get the perfect design and I'm glad a didn't just rush into it and get some tribal design...

My next one is going to be a piece, so been working on that for a year now to make sure it's right and find a good tattoo artist as my one moved to Australia. Also because I'm a girl I want to get married before I have this one done so I look nice in my dress (and I promised my mum I would wait)

You know who are good at designing tattoos? Tattoo artists. I highly doubt anyone here will know what will work as a tattoo and what won't. Besides the tattoo artists, who probably won't draw your stuff for free. Take your two pictures to a tattoo artist and have them sketch something up. Hearts and banners are super simple, it shouldn't be too challenging for them...

But how can an artist show you what you want?

For the love of god, please bring reference materials with you to the tattoo shop. There is nothing more annoying than someone who tries to describe what they want (except someone who comes in the shop wanting a 1/2 sleeve and wants us to "draw something up" but wants to spend $100).

Go to the library and make copies from books, print pictures from the Internet, purchase books at the book store, etc.

Reference materials are a MUST.

For me, inner beauty and confidence are a turn on. How can I love her if she's not able to love herself? I don't mean someone who can spend money like a drunken sailor for clothing, accessories and makeup, but someone who is happy in her own skin. It's hard to love someone who's insecure and needs constant reassuring about her looks, my affections and her loveability quotient.

My personal turnoffs:

Heavy makeup or cologne.
Women who expect me to spoil them like their Daddy did.
Long fake nails or nails that prevent a woman from doing anything with her hands for fear of ruining her precious French manicure.
Helplessness / childish behavior. (please, let's be adults here)
Excesssive tattoos or piercings.

How to get over jealousy and insecurity?

I'm engaged. I love my fiancé deeply and he treats me better than anyone I've ever. There's one issue, and that's my insecurity. I feel like I'm ruining everything. I'm not generally an insecure person, it's because of things that happened.. But I need advice on how to get over them before I completely ruin things. He has apologized for everything, changed it all, and genuinely feels bad. These are the things that have happened, in no particular order.

1) he told me a story about cheating on his ex with her best friend. Months later, he made a sexual comment to MY best friend on Facebook.

2) until I finally blew up about it, he was always going on and on about what he liked in women.. None of which I had. Example - I've heard about how he has a thing for women in glasses about a billion times. I don't wear glasses. New Years Eve, I made myself into everything he says he wants (except tattoos).. And I got the biggest reaction out of me. He talked about how beautiful i was, he was all over me all night. His contact picture for me on his phone is similar.. He claims it's the only picture I've sent him but I've sent him tons, but just one with glasses, my hair up, etc.

3) once, he blatantly checked out tattooed girls online in front of me. Verbally judging each one as hot or not. He has apologized for doing it.

4) this is the big one. There was another girl in the picture, and I kinda consider what he was doing as an emotional affair. He was texting her first thing in the morning and last thing at night every single morning and saying he had promised her he would. He initially tried to hide the nature of his relationship with her.. But it finally came out that he had a thing for her for a super long time. And when he was telling me about it, it was clear he still did. My thought about it was that I was being put second. Why wouldnt he want to talk to ME first and last? tHe also blatantly refused to make me the same promise

I want to get over this. :(

Stop using labels. It's really stupid. Hipster is just a style cool people try to copy. But if you insist, big glasses with a vintage shirt and high wasted shorts. Most 'hipsters' have tattoos and piercing. They also wear converse and stuff.

This made me curious ever since I read someone else's similar questions. I have tattoos on each side of my ankle and just assumed that it never looked bad or bothered anyone, since I've gotten all compliments. I never understood though why people are saying that tattoos on the leg only look right on "certain" women who know how to pull off that look. What does that mean? I like the way a leg sleeve looks (a small one) + it can easily be concealed when needed. Also, why would anyone think it looks too masculine for a women to tattoo her leg.- Most guys I see have their arms & back, not their legs!

I have a tattoo on my ankle. It doesn't quite go all the way around and I do plan on finishing it, as well as getting one on my other ankle. For me, I would get my legs covered before my arms. It's easier to cover if you need to do so. I wear jeans most of the year anyway, so it would be less likely to fade.

To each their own. Put your tattoos where you want them, not where other people think they should be.

Im 16 and getting my first tattoo tomorrow on my ribs?

Ok so i am 16 years old, 180 pounds and about 6'1 and i am getting a cross on my side/ribs tomorrow. It gonna be about 8-9 inches tall and about 5-6 inches wide. It all black and white with no other colors and there is shading and the cross is kinda somewhat a cross with tribal in it. I was wandering on a scale of 1-10. How bad its gonna hurt and if its gonna stretch at all. I think im done growing and i almost have a 6 pack. So im not fat. And also how long do you think it will take? And im paying $200 for it, is that a decent price for professional work and if any girls are reading this, do you think the tattoo in going to get is going to be attractive? Just curious. Pink has a dragon (i think) tat on her right? thigh a little out of place but she rocks it you could check that out i have a friend the has 3 tats on one leg 1 on either side of her calf and 1 on her thigh and they look great on her like the one guy said not everyone can pull off tattoos so be sure what you get works for you or you can do what some ppl do and get the fake ones and place them where you'd like your tat to go and see if it looks good there!!!

If this is your first tattoo, I would suggest a place where it may not be seen as much due to professionalism and workplace kinda crap. some of my favorite places that women get tattoos at are places like the ankle, back of the neck, hip bone, collar bone, and the rib areas. since you have too kids, you could easily do each on the hips or collar bone or ankles. i like the idea of a fairy or angel that kinda represents each of them, such as a color or something iconic with their name written somehow. maybe even a kinda tinker bell (but please not tinker bell, too damn cliche) writing out their names with a wand kinda thing. but beware of to much detail vs area because it will either too small to show off, or will lack detail. that is a conversation between you and your artist.

I have two that I just HAD to have. I wish I never marked up my body. If you really want one get it where you can always hide it EVEN with a bathing suit like in your pelvic area. I have one on my foot that hurt like a mother f*cker. Do not worry about it looking trashy. If a person hates tattoos, theyre going to tell you it looks trashy no matter where you put it. (disreguard those people, they suck). On your upper back would be cute, or on your ankle, or foot? (im not skinny either, i have one on my ankle, and on my foot). The foot one is easy to cover (obviously) and even though I hate feet....I think foot tattoos are cute.

I do see what you are getting at. But as I believe (I don't have the statistics to hand, but I remember it from some government site...) that Britney/Brittany/some variant of Brittnee - is now one of the top 10 most popular names, it is in fact a jolly common name and won't be seen as "trendy" or at all unusual about 50 years from now. There will be thousands of Grandma Britneys.

I do wish parents would not do the "trendy" spellings of names though - one woman got rather cross with me when I pronounced her son's name - it was written as Tyr-Irn, which I assumed was pronounced "tyre iron" (I just thought she'd given him a silly name) but it turns out he's actually pronounced "Tyrone". So boo to trendy spellings like that.

Um. I am in the UK and tattoos are very much the norm here - I'm afraid a lot of us already have grandmas with tattoos (certainly a LOT of Grandpas too!) and there are millions of tattooed mums around! I think it must have a different social status here - there will be a vast number of tattoed grandmas here in 50 years!

I want to get my first tattoo and I was really excited about it until people started making me feel like I can't handle the pain. I think I have a normal pain tolerance. Is it that bad where they would be trying to talk me out of it? I'm getting it anyway but I just want to know what to expect!

I've got a very large tattoo on my thigh (nee up to back) it took 10 hours in total, and i'm a very skinny girl. Did it hurt? yes it did. Nobody is not gonna feel anything when getting a tattoo. If your worried about the pain, i suggest taken pain killers before hand. Also try not to take brakes. If your going for a 4 hour session try push through. Reason being, i found you will go a bit numb after about 15 minuets. If you take a brake you'll have to start again. Also make sure you bring sugary drinks or juices to keep your blood sugar levels up.
You can also try distract yourself with a book or music.
Generally for most people, you don't feel any pain afterward. I had a little pain when laying on it, but this went away in 2 to 3 days.
Other then that..suck it up princess! If you like the design its worth it in the end.

But my mom finds it trashy.
But I finally got mine done=]
Anyways.
If she says no, ask why?
If she says something like "because I said" or "because I'm the boss"
say, "So you don't have a real reason?"

Make her give you a reason.

If she says it is TRASHY.
Remind her that you are her daughter. So she knows you best! If you are not trashy,slutty or whatever, then your mom would know this. And piercing a part of skin does NOT change your personality. I mean, yeah some trashy girls have their belly pierced, but just about every girl who is trashy has their ears pierced! Right? And tell her that the piercing will not change you and make you trash. Tell her that she raised you better than that.

If she says you are not RESPONSIBLE.
Remind her of all the times you babysat or took care of your first pet. And it is NOT hard to take care of a bellybutton piercing. The first few days it hurts really bad cleaning it with soap, but I have had it for 6 days now and it doesn't hurt anymore!

It will only be seen when your belly is showing, so pretty much only bikini season! So no one will know.
Ask to get it for christmas or your birthday if she is refusing. Don't offer if you want it bad.
It can be taken out. so no regrets!! It isn't a tattoo.
And it might give you confidence.
It can be a really cute and fun accessory!

If you had piercings from head to toe and tattoos all pver your body and your records were not good they would probably not accept you but blonde hair and dark skin has nothing to do with it... I am getting a large tribal tattoo covering the top of my shoulder, right side of my chest, my entire right deltoid, and about half of the right side of my back. It's my first tattoo. I got one on my foot ( which everyone says is the worst!) and it tickled for a bit :) but after the outlines the shading hurt pretty bad. I'm a girl if that makes you feel better haha but just keep your mind on something else
