I want to decorate my bedroom with a retro vintage theme. Can anyone give me ideas of what type of items I should buy and where I should look?

I do always like to begin with selecting pictures and paintings for my walls(but not too excessive). Of course, the pictures have to be retro themed or vintage looking.

Answer
Red walls will certainly do the trick...although bright colors in general. Frilly bedding is pretty accurate if you're looking for 1940's/1950's look around antique store for furniture. You can look for fabric with pinup girls and/or vintage tattoo art on them. If you look around HGTV.com, I remember Design on a Dime did a retro-vintage bedroom at one point, they have all their episodes with the ideas and processes listed on the site. Good luck!

OH and when you're looking for furniture, specify mid-century, you'll get a lot of good stuff.

Who are some of the best pin up girl artists from the 1920s-1960s?

I'm not talking about the people from today who try to draw things that look vintage, I am talking about artists from the past.

Also, do guys (and girls) find tattoos unpleasant on women?

Answer
This is not a photography question. And, furthermore, it sounds like homework to me. However. . .

Alberto Vargas was, perhaps the most well known pin-up artist of all time.
Boris Vallejo
Vaughn Alden Bass
George Petty originator of the "Petty Girl"
Fritz Willis

Here is a web site (it's how we find things out if we don't know about them, by using the Internet, a great research tool, by the way):

And, today, it seems that most young people (people from 30 something on down to young people - teenagers) either have tattoos, piercings or both.

Personally I don't care for the trend, fad, or look. But, I do admire some of the tattoo artwork. Just not on me. I am not attracted to tattoos on either women or men.

As a photographer who has worked with many models and has shot a fair number of artistic nudes, I think tattoos disfigure the beauty of the human body. Without covering makeup a tattoo will disqualify a model from many jobs (exception Suicide Girls Models - but name any advertiser who uses these models in a national advertising campaign.)
