I'm 19 years old, and my mom is my world. She was just recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Every woman in my family for the last five generations, excluding myself for now, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I would like to get a tattoo in honor of my mother and all of my family member who have battled with breast cancer. I was thinking of getting a Jesus fish with a pink ribbon intertwined on my foot. Does anyone else have any ideas? I would really appreciate them.

Answer
Think before you pink! You and your family are so much more than a dang pink ribbon! Your mother is so much more than a disease! If you wish to get a tattoo that honors your family, leave out the pink ribbon and get something that represents their lives and not their illness!

A family tree comes to mind . . .

Can a 14 yearold get a tattoo with parental consent in the state of North Carolina?

R W

Okay so, I'm 14 and I've been thinking about getting a tattoo. I know this is really young but, my mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer. For an art project I did a ribbon with an outline of a woman in it. My mom and I were thinking of getting matching tattoos of the design. So, I just need to know, is it possible to get a tattoo with parental consent in North Carolina at my age?

Answer
Na sorry but now days u have to at least be 16.

I have a birthmark that is the size, shape and color of a strawberry. I'd like to get strawberry leaves put on it, maybe outline it, maybe some "seeds" but I want to find out if there are concerns about tattooing on the birthmark.

Answer
No.......but opinions vary I am sure. I have a huge cross that I had them tattoo over my vaccination mark I have had since 5. Its been there along time and I have had no problems. I have seen women who have had their breasts removed due to cancer have tattooing done on their chests to hide the scars, also burn scars have been covered up. I have alot of scarring from a seurgery two years ago on my upper left arm, and I have a huge back piece that I want to extend on my upper shoulderi in an attempt to cover up 4 small holey looking scars.

When a woman is being treated for breast cancer, is her breats most often removed?

Creamy Str

And if so, how do those women remedy this afterwards?

(Because I have heard of several women who underwent a mastectomy, but apparently all have breats.)
That should read: "... are her breasts most often removed?"

Answer
Breast cancer, like all cancers, is treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. While a mastectomy is often the last surgical resort, many doctors treat cancer with lumpectomies, to remove diseased tissue if it's caught early, and localized.

After a mastectomy, women usually undergo reconstruction surgery. This can involve anything from reshaping of the remaining tissue, to getting silicone/saline implants. Nipples can be rebuilt, using tissue from the labia, or thigh, and will be tattooed to a natural looking color.
