People get all kinds of tattoos, I myself want to get a tattoo and have been brainstorming a lot so I was curious what some of you had to say about how you got your tattoo/tattoos.

Answer
I got my first tattoo when I was fifteen, it is a rose with two names. I got it in memory of a little girl whom I adored, and also my brother, who both passed away three days apart. I regret getting this tattoo because I was young and naive and headstrong. i didn't research the artist and didnt even know that it was illegal. The result is a tattoo that is quite poorly done. I am still attached to it for the reasons aforementioned though. Then I began a tattooing apprenticeship and my whole world opened to art and the myriad of possibilities available in tattooing. I got a tattoo that represented myself and my beliefs. Then I got a handprint of the little girl who passed. I placed two doves on my chest with the words "Flight and Fall, In Deo Speramus (In God we trust)." I also added a half sleeve, which you can see on my profile picture is of a blue buddha. He is my artistic interpretation of the Boddhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who is the buddha-to-be of mercy and compassion. Through his crown are the initials of my eight siblings (in elegant ancient mayan). This was my way of carrying the people I love with me for all eternity. I recently added chess pieces to my foot in memory of my dad, which you can view below if you wish. All of my tattoo's I chose because they are things I am proud to carry with me for my entire life. They run deeper than a phase, or a passion. They are part of my inner self, that through a very talented artist (my boss) I was able to apply to my outer self as well. A lot of people regret their tattoo's and as someone who works in the industry it saddens me greatly. If people take more time to decide on their artwork and THOROUGHLY research their tattoo artist' ability prior to wearing the artwork for life, their will be a lot less remorse over poorly made decisions. Also I have found that people focus far too much on cost instead of quality. Best of luck with your choice, please keep us posted. :-)

What other tattoo should i get to complete my sleeve?

I have a rose on my upper shoulder, realistic in black and grey ink. I want to get tattoos to fill up my arm but i want the pieces to go together? What else could i get, im thinking a snake or other type of flowers? BTW im a girl ; thanks!

Answer
I would say maybe get a quote with the word flower in it. sounds stupid but its easy to find stuff like that. then i would just continue to get nature type things. if you like animals, maybe dolphins or something like that? If a sleeve doesn't completely go together thats fine, just as long as you love every piece. by the way, more power to you having tattoos on your arm being a female. i have them too. (:
