I would like to know if being tattooed by a female artist is different than a male tattoo artist? I have 3 tattoos (for now) and they all were done by male artist, I got a navel pierce by a female. But I wanted to know if there's a difference.

Answer
Female artists have colder hands. Every tattoo artist, whether they be male or female, will have a different style and technique. I have experienced 4 tattoo artists, one female, and she had the heaviest hand out of all of them. Some will be better with fine lines, some will be better with bold colors, some better at shading, and all sorts of other variables. So yes, there is a difference between male and female artists, and a difference between ALL artists that can change from day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute. This is why its important to look through each artists portfolio to get a real feel for the artists qualities.

I am sure there are female artists in Maryland, you'll just have to call around to shops to find out if a female works there. Good luck to you on your adventure to get your 4th tattoo!

16 year old female looking for a job: How should I dress and tips?

Deviant Dr

I am 16 turning 17 soon.
How should I dress that isn't "teen" yet says "young"?
Something neutral but with a hint saying "I'am friendly and outgoing!"
I'm going to every single store in the mall, every restaurant, any place that can accept me :)
I'm obviously not picky.
And is there any tips? My dad told me to ask for the manager and shake hands with them. Something about them remembering me more?
One more thing, its really cold (snow) so please consider that in my clothing?

Answer
It will be obvious that you are young, so don't worry about that. The thing you want to get across is that you are RESPONSIBLE. That means that while you go out and fill out applications that you remove piercings, hide tattoos and don't dress 'stylish' as would pass on the street. My best recommendation is to wear khakis and a white button down shirt, or a pair of dress pants with a business-like shirt. Remember that dressing like you are on Boston Legal is NOT professional. They are dressed to show T & A and to bump ratings. Wear simple small hoop or button earrings. No flashy jewelry. Sensible shoes, meaning nothing over an inch heel. Don't show any cleavage. Big thing where lots of kids screw up: Don't wear too much makeup. Go for the natural beauty. A little eyeliner, mascara and a neutral lipstick or lipgloss. Ask for the hiring manager to submit your resume to. Make sure they get your name and that you get face time. Be pleasant and adult.

Also remember to smile.
