Would "The Girl with the Dragon tattoo" or/and "The Hungry Ghosts" be appropriate for me?

Q&A

I have read:
The secret Life of Bees
Wicked
Dead Until Dark
The Kite Runner
The Lovely Bones
The no.1 Ladies Detective Agency series (1-5)
Hannah Swensen Mysteries

Answer
I like most of those books (besides Wicked), and I liked the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It is a Swedish book (the Swedish title is "Men Who Hate Women" so that kind of tells you that a reoccuring theme is violence against women). Certain terms and expressions are different (ex/ gaol = jail). The first few chapters of courtroom drama and business are sort of boring, but it gets good after that, when Blomkvist goes to the island. Lisbeth is a great character. Give it a chance!

I haven't read The Hungry Ghosts.

Guys: what would you think of a small rib tattoo on a woman?

anonymous/

I'm 18 and I really want to get a hamsa (hand of god) tattoo design on the side of my ribcage, but I want it to be relatively small. If I really want it in a few months I'm going to get it either way because it's my body, but I was just curious what you guys would think of that on a girl. It would be my only tattoo. Thanks! I'm a runner and stuff btw so it's not like I'm overweight and want to show off an unattractive part of my body.

Urgently Required: Unique Fringe Activities For Carnival?

Angelic

Time:
Early Morning
Target Grp:
Adult Sportsman/woman who have just completed the competition and a small no. of supporters
Remark:
Trying to find some activities that could occupy the supporters after the race start and the activities must also engage the runners after they complete their race.

Have thought of games stalls but would like it to be totally different from other carnivals. Please help. Am running out of ideas.

Answer
Here are some ideas: Get some people to set up a face-painting or temporary tattoo stall. That way, some supporters can even show their support by painting the names of the runners on their faces! (Kinda like football). Or have a cookout! Like get some people to set up stalls to give out samples to eat... Even painting a community mural would be nice, where one person pays 1 buck and gets to paint a small section of the mural. You can even modify this idea to set up a site where people dab their hands in paint and leave coloured handprints with their signature.

Tattoos on Girls/Women?

Q. Do you like them, hate them, or would it just depend on the tattoo and the girl?

What designs and body parts do you think they look best on?

Answer
It really depends. I'm getting one on the inside of my ankle of a winged foot because I'm a runner. I think they're bad if they get a spouse's name tattooed on them because of how commonplace divorce is nowadays, but something like your kids' names is adorable.
Also, I think they're okay if they are in a nonconspicuous place, such as a foot/ankle, side, upper thigh, etc. where one can hide the tattoo if they wish.

Can getting a tattoo keep me from doing college running?

My baby bo

I'm a HS senior and have the opprotunity for scholarships at 5 NCAA D 1 & D 2 schools. I'm also turning 18, and wanted to get a tattoo on my shoulder. If I got a tattoo, would that keep me from running cross country in college? Also, what if I get a tattoo, but it's covered up by my running uniform during races?
There's a reason why I figured it wouldnt be allowed. Becuase in my high school races, our uniforms have to have single designs that match, headbands can't have metal peices, no jewlrey, so I didn't know if it was against the rules for tattoos too.

Answer
Lots of college athletes including runners have tattoos, men and women.
I imagine some coaches might frown on tattoos, but there is no rule prohibiting them.
You can also wear jewelry in college

best place to meet women during the day?

don't say grocery store. we both know that's just unrealistic. they just think you're a creep.

the girls at coffee shops are generally busy.

girls walking in the street are either with someone or look like they don't want to be bothered (hard to just start talking anyway).

please give me some reasonable ideas.

Answer
The key to meeting women during the day is twofold.

First, you need to get out of the house. Look for every reason to do something outside of the house and get yourself out there as much as possible. You never know when you'll run across that perfect girl. Go to local festivals, museums, the gym, clubs and groups that you are interested in. Pretty much anything to get you out there.

Second, you need to look for a reason to approach them so you don't come off as creepy. Most girls have something interesting about them when they are out. It could be a tattoo, or book their reading, a tourist map, or anything else. Get in the practice of looking for these little things that great excuses for talking to women.

Then you just make some kind of casual comment like "Oh that's an interesting tattoo. What does it mean?" or "You're reading the Kite Runner? My sister read that. What do you think of it?"

I hope this helps.
