Tattoos for scar coverage?

Odette Jon

Years ago I used to be a self harmer, the scars left behind arnt as bad as some that I've seen but they are noticeable & it's awkward when people notice, I hate it. So I was thinking of getting a tatto on my left fore arm, kind of like a sleeve but not so full on coverage. What are your opinions, should I go for it or not? Im desperate to cover the scars but I also know that if I didn't have the scars, I probably would never have a tattoo on my arm. X

Answer
Definitely get it! There's this world famous tattoo artist in Seattle who does a lot of cover up tattoos for various scars, for anything from breast cancer to scars. She's really amazing. I don't know where you live, but I'm sure there are tattoo artists by you that can do a good job. Just make sure they are skilled enough. Anyways, take a look at this woman's page...click on 'portfolio' and then click 'cover ups'. It has both the before and after photos

Question about a tattoo?

Alex

My girlfriend wants this tattoo but she was wondering how long it will take and how much it will cost? Any extra advice would be appreciated :)

Answer
Tattoo like that shouldn't take more than an hour, and really shouldn't cost more than $50. But all shops are different. Some advice, I've gone into shops before with a clear idea of exactly what I want. Good artists who want to show off might ask if they can play around with the idea a little and make the tattoo something unique that showcases their artwork. Just be receptive to that, they can come up with some really cool stuff you might enjoy. Otherwise, can't really think of anything else. Good luck with your new tattoo!

Does a Tattoo Artist do this or another type of professional ?

Permanant Lip Liner And Lip Color

As with eyeliner and eyebrows, color and shape are the most important factors to consider. Soft pinks, corals and brownish tones can be applied to the lips to enhance their shape and provide definition. Other deeper or brighter colors will also provide enhancement. Lip color is not a carbon copy of your lipstick. It provides your lips with a softer version of your lipstick (for example: a lip stain). When a gloss or sheer is applied over lip color procedure, the color will appear brighter and more intense like lipstick but not opaque.

With all cosmetic procedures mentioned above, your regular cosmetics may still be applied. Most women do not totally abandon their cosmetics but feel that with these procedures they have the confidence to use less makeup or occasionally go without.

The above is a quote from another source,,,I have been considering this for a long time due to makeup allergies and was wondering what to look for in my choices.
Thanks All for your opinions and information. I have seriously considered this in the past and since I do have problems with being allergic to makeup products and I am a very low maintanance type of gal (lip gloss and mascara~when I am not allergic to it) was just wondering what the benefits and problems would be. Thanks again for your help and advice. OUCH,,redone ? I thought it was a one time thingy and it was over with ? I guess I been lucky ,,the one tat I have was done so well it has not done any of the negative things you hear about. Its just as beautiful as the day my "Tat Artist" did it 25 years ago.

Answer
ok - this is super important information for you. tattoo artists (the kind that also do the piercings) use colored ink. they are very talented and make pretty body art.

however, permament makeup is done by someone that has had extensive training. they use natural vegetable pigments instead of the ink that is used in regular tattoos.

because of the placement of the cosmetic tattoos, it is important to use the proper pigments and have someone that specializes in cosmetic tattoos only.

BEFORE getting any cosmetic tattoos, ask your specialist to see their portfolio of before and after photos and also ask for a list of clients they have done. make sure you have a clear consultation to make sure that you and your artist have the same understanding of what your expectations are.

one other side note: if you ever get fever blisters or cold sores, you might not want to get your lips done. the majority of people that get their lips tattooed will experience an outbreak (if they have had them before) and it just isn't very pretty.

final note: go for a soft, natural look. your personal style in makeup will change over the years and you dont want to be 75 years old one day and have thick black eyeliner.

do your research, ask lots of questions and then go for it when you find the right person!!

Why would a ghost woman be in my grandmas house, she looks like she wears a old dress sometimes?

ghost

She appears in photos, and video tape only. She dresses in a see through dress, she has real long hair. She has left 3-5 finger scratch marks on my uncles neck and my little cousins arm skipping over his tattoo I bought him, Which takes some credibility out of my cousins story.

Answer
Ghost,I would love it if you could post some photos of what you have captured on film.If I were to venture a guess,it would be someone that lived in the home or on the land at one time. Some times spirits will do this to grab our attention and some need help as far as crossing over.I would try and communicate with this spirit, grab a digital tape recorder and run it and ask some questions, such is there a spirit here, what is your name and why are you here.Play back the tape and see if you find any intelligent responses to the questions that you have asked. This is how paranormal investigators communicate with spirits. If you can possibly post some photos, that would be awesome!

How do I write the word vegetarian in Elven?

It's a strange and odd request, but I'm looking to get this word (or something close to it) tattooed on me. I've been a vegetarian for 22 years now (my entire life), and a huge fan of Tolken. So, if anyone can help me out, it'd be fantastic.

Answer
Due to the incompleteness of Tolkien's Elven languages I recommend to use a simple transcription of the English word to Tengwar (one of his scripts).
Here is one possible way to write it:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/32039090@N02/8287668894/in/photostream
You can check the letters with:
http://at.mansbjorkman.net/teng_general_english.htm
or http://www.acondia.com/fonts/tengwar/info/english.htm
Please note that I wrote G as J [dÊ], like it is spoken.

In Tolkien's Elven languages my first thought would go to something that might be construed as an insult, depending on how you see yourself. This is due to the difficulty expressing this idea in an incomplete language.

Sindarin (Grey-Elven):
Lassvador (masc.), Lassvadeth (fem.) -> leaf-eater -> lass - leaf + mad- - to eat; here mutated to vad- + -or - male name ending/-eth - female name ending (=woman)
Galasvador/Galasvadeth -> plant-eater -> galas - growth, plant
Galasben -> plant-somebody -> galas + pen - one, somebody; mut. ben
Dictionary: http://www.jrrvf.com/hisweloke/sindar/online/english.html (see A1 and A2)
Grammar: http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/sindarin.htm

Quenya (High-Elven):
Laimamatindo (masc.), Laimamatinde (fem.) -> plant-eater -> laima - plant + mat- - to eat + -indo/-inde - "doer" (person connected to the verbal action)
Laimamo (m.), Laimame (f.) -> plant-person -> laima + -mo/-me - person connected to the noun
Dictionaries:
http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/Quettaparma.pdf
http://www.ambar-eldaron.com/telechargements/quenya-engl-A4.pdf
Grammar: http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/quenya.htm

If you come up with any (better) ideas and aren't sure about the grammar or want to see them in Tengwar, or if you have any questions about this, feel free to send me a message.

Do tattoo magazines except photos from anyone?

Elena

I just did a pin up/ tattoo type photoshoot. I am wondering if it would be weird to send a few 8X10s to tattoo magazines, and ask if they would be interested in using my photo. I've never done this before and just wanted some background info.

Answer
No. And don't send anything before asking. Not weird, but your work could end up in the trash.
I'd suggest you e mail or write them to ask if they accept photos from readers. Some do, most don't. You also need to write up a contract as to how your photos will be used, as well as a model release for the woman who posed for you.

For my first tattoo I was thinking about getting a marilyn monroe quote. Does anýbody have a favorite quote by her or any suggestions? Thanks!

Answer
"All we demand, is our right to twinkle."

"I just want to be wonderful."

"Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul."

"Dogs never bite me. Just humans."

"If I'd observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere."

"Well behaved women rarely make history."

"It's all make believe, isn't it?"

"All little girls should be told they're pretty, even if they aren't."

Check out the website below for photos of over 100 Marilyn Monroe tattoos.

How can you find young women (18+) would would like to model nude?

Steve

I'm trying to put together a photo book and I'm looking for models with a story to tell...I'd like to have an artistic nude picture of them with their story. It can be about anything. Let me know if you or anyone you know is interested.

Answer
It is certainly not "perverted" to take nude photos and I can understand some of your difficulty in finding models.

There are many places that you can find models, however, and it should not be a very big problem or one that cannot be overcome.

The first place to seek nude models is a modeling agency. Look in your local phone book for "modeling agencies." Be prepared to pay a model for her time and nude models will not be inexpensive. Professional models normally charge a premium for nude work.

A second way might be to approach an art teacher at a local college and inquire about life models. You might find someone who would pose for tasteful photos and who might not charge quite as much as a professional photographic model.

A third way might be to advertise in the local paper or on Craig's list, making sure to state that there is no eroticism or pornography involved. If you get any response make it clear that the model is welcomed to bring along any friend either male or female to chaperon the proceedings.

I also suggest meeting the model and the friend away from your chosen photographic place or studio before the shoot to ascertain both your and their safety, trustworthiness, appearance, etc. and to go over the details and what is expected of each participant.

There is a web site which features alternative models such as those with tattoos, body piercings, etc. and it might be worthwhile to contact some of the models there or to advertise there and let them know that you are willing to shoot photos with the dual purpose of producing your book and helping them to get some well produced photos (if you are capable of producing such.)

I forget what the name of the site is, but you might find it by searching the archive here on Yahoo answers as I am sure that I have seen the reference more than once. It might be something like "Black Widow."

Maybe ask the questions "What site is it that features alternative style models (tattoos and piercings) both nude and semi-nude?" I'm sure you'll get a response.

Good luck in your endeavor.
