I have a tattoo of a lizard tattoo'd on my breast wrapping around it. Would guys find that trashy or hot? I also have2 tongue rings a belly button ring and a tattoo on my inner thigh. I have always had low self esteem and these made me feel better about myself. Now i am starting to wonder whether guys find this trashy and if thats the reason no guy seems to take me serious relationship wise.

Im pretty sure this question was directed at men. And Im pretty sure that half of the answers are from women. And Im pretty sure that any women is going to think thats trashy, jut because women are downright mean.

First of all...Its who you are. Dont worry about what all these girls say. I know penty of guys that would think that was hott. ...And they arent pervs. Theyre just guys.

Youll find someone who is attracted to you anyway you decide you want to look. But right now, thats an awesome way to express yourself...and make your self feel better.

As long as you think you look hott....others around you will think the same thing. ..Dont worry love, just be yourself...even if its hard to do sometimes.

Getting aroused during a tattoo or piercing.. is it expected?

Okay so I'm planning on getting either my nipples pierced or getting a tattoo on my inner thigh... my only problem is I know anyone who touches my nipples or the vibrations from the tattoo needle around that area WILL give me an erection...
Is this perceived as expected from these types of tattoos/piercings?
My other problem Is I'm a gay male also... Would it be bad If this happened with a male tattoo artist/piercer? I'd like to hear specifically from tattoo artists themselves but all answers are welcome.
I am into some light S&M so yes, I do like pain for those who think I won't get aroused. Thanks for all your answers!

It happens sometimes. As long as you handle it properly, it's not an issue, we're fairly used to that sort of thing. When I say 'handle it properly' I mean, don't just whip it out and start pleasuring yourself (I really have to say that, it's happened to a lot of artists before!)

It's not expected, but it's not unexpected either. If your artist is professional, your sexual orientation or the gender of your artist should not matter one bit. I'm a straight woman, and I've been pierced (and done piercings on) lesbians. It's not a big deal, and I wouldn't be supprised to find out that I've pierced more lesbians than I realize (it's not on the health questionaire or anything!)

Just relax about it, and if you do happen to get excited, don't worry, your artist probably won't notice/say anything. Crack a joke about it if you need to!

First let me say to the person who said that people get tattooed to be badass-get over it! Maybe in the 1970's...but not now, tattooing is an art form and lots of us do it because we choose to have our art on us instead of displayed on a wall. Many cultures believe it is a way to express your inner soul through your body..that is what it is to me.. To the question, I dont think that is the case. I know alot of men who are tattooed..(My man is a tattoo artist) and have issues with people who are jerks about it. Men just choose not to show it.
Women sometimes do. I, for one, am a woman who has two full sleeves, a chest piece, thigh pieces, some on my back and my hips and I have some issue with people who are assholes about it, but I dont much give a shit what people think or have to say.
It could help that I own my tattoo parlor and am a professional body piercer-but I didnt care when I was just a graduate student working a 9-5 job..I think it is just different personalities, not gender.

And I realize that pain tolerance varies from person to person, but on average how bad does it hurt? What is the least painful place to get one?

And what is the best place for a woman to get one that won't stretch (or stretch the least) during pregnancy?
It's going to be a small tattoo and I'm definitely not planning on getting pregnant for a long long time =)

Pricing on a small tattoo will vary according to:

-actual size
-colors
-artist/studio
-state
-location of tat
-studio minimum fees

Basically, any reputable studio is going to charge between $60 and $90 as a minimum fee no matter how small the tat. If you find a place that charges less, they are usually not the type of place you want to go to. A small black-ink-only tat will usually go for somewhere in that range.

As far as pain goes, of course it varies greatly from person to person, but the general rules of thumb are:

1) anywhere on the bone tends to hurt more, examples are the spine, ankle, shoulder blades, etc.

2) anywhere with a lot of nerve endings will hurt more, for example the buttocks, rib area, inner wrist, or inner upper arm.

The top of the thigh doesn't hurt nearly as much (while the back of the thigh is quite sensitive), and the back of the hip where you have a little padding and fewer nerve endings also hurts much less. However, the pain anywhere is fleeting and all part of the experience. You'll do great. It's not all about end product, right?

If you are concerned about stretching during pregnancy, you can easily get tattooed on your back, arms, legs, or neck. Many women get wrist tats especially when they want something small, easily seen (or covered, for that matter), and not easily affected by drastic changes in weight.

Take your idea to a tattoo studio or artist you trust, and ask them any questions you might have. Consultations cost nothing and are the best way to alleviate any fears, inform yourself, and get to know the artist you'll be working with.
