âRear window,â said Fiona placidly, pointing above her. Her eyes stayed glued to the newspaper, as she reclined in the easy chair.
âAh, yes,â said Eddy, realizing he had walked by the window several times since he began searching for an escape, âthereâs some bad voodoo in this place. Makinâ me overlook things.â
âMmmhmm,â mused Fiona. She teased her spiky blue hair, before closing her eyes and sighing. Eddy looked at her and felt his face flush.
âShe done got a firm hold of my heart,â he grinned.

âNothing, nothing,â he backtracked, realizing he had spoken out loud. She shrugged, and resumed her nap. Eddy looked at her pert, sharp nose, her elegant chin and neck, the topaz stud pierced in her nose, and the tattoo descending in her supple cleavage that said, ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE. She was the hottest ticket in all of Mayfield, population 400. And he was deeply in love and totally insane for this punk angel amidst a sea of plain Janes.
But before he could win her affections, he had to get them out of this subterranean dungeon. Their very lives depended on it. It was pure serendipity that put them together, just as the glowing UFO landed, emptying its cargo of Richard Simmons clones upon the unsuspecting earth. Shrill cries of terror mingled with âSweatinâ to the Oldiesâ, but they had eluded the onslaughtâ¦for now.
âREAR WINDOW,â Fiona reminded Eddy.
âYes, yes, I was just going to do that,â he said. He immediately opened the portal, prepared to climb through, but got stuck just as a horde of marching aliens advanced upon the cellar.
âWatch out for Miss Kitty! She's not a woman, she's The Terminator,â said Fiona, suddenly alerted to Eddieâs screams. She pulled Eddy back through the window, just as laser fire erupted from the outside.
âYou SAVED me,â gushed Eddy. He leaned over to kiss his spiky-haired goddess, but was rejected with a hard smack to the forehead. He fell, unconscious, as Fiona prepared to battle Miss Kitty.

âAye,â agreed Ted the Intern. âShall I turn off the monitors or do you wish to see more?â
âTell me exactly what you saw and what you think it means,â urged Barcus. âIf we want to sell our sponsors on renewing âInvasion Survivor Romantic Escape Deathmatchâ, we need to know what makes it tick.â
âHot punk chicks slapping pimply geeks in the midst of advancing robotic death squads,â said Ted the Intern. âKind of like âJoanie Loves Chachiâ, only withâ¦more slapping, tons of burning metal, and unrequited love.â
Barcus chuckled. âCall the sponsors! Tell them to meet us for lunch at âThe Garden Gateâ. Iâm in the mood for spring rolls.
Ted the Intern furiously pounded his cell phone, but moments later pocketed it in dismay. âWe lost our sponsorsâ¦..theyâre backing a whole new reality show they say, something called âMattBaby and Sunshine are in Hee Haw Paradiseâ.
âDamn, we were so close this time,â lamented Barcus. âOh wellâ¦.the spring rolls are on me. Grab your coat.â

Why do American teens seem more childish and overall dumber than Europeans?

Just visited a few countries (Russia Spain and Greece) and i noticed teens and those in their 20s are much more educated and sophisticated compared to their US counterparts. They seem to act like they are 30 but surprisingly are only 21. They dress elegant without gang tattoos or rocker look or skater look. Especially the women, they are very family oriented.

We coddle our kids... "Generation Zero" has raised kids with no boundaries and taught them that it doesn't matter if you succeed or fail, all that matters is that you showed up...
We require instant gratification of our wants and desires and expect them to be handed to us just for showing up.
People on welfare can afford LED/LCD 42 inch flat screen TV's and App-Phones then STILL b*tch that they "Deserve" more.
Our children have no boundaries, received no discipline, and grew up hearing that "The US is #1!" so they learn only the minimum needed to get through life, follow their silly little causes to fill the void left in their lives by having TOO MUCH prosperity and let the world turn to sh*t around them.
Education is pushed off with the mantra of "Bill Gates didn't go to college" and seeing the internet millionaires of the late 90's, early 2000's... We watch interviews with the 25 year old billionaire developers of facebook, youtube, etc. and think "If they can do it..." and expect to be thrown fists full of money for surfing the web and being creative.
We have reached the point where we either succeed or fail... we are the New-Rome.
Will we let our decadence and over-blown sense of superiority bring us down like they did? I hope not.
