Rib cage tattoo pain...?

When I turn 18 (I'm 16 now) I'm really hoping to get a poem tattooed on my rib cage beside my left breast. The poem I'm hoping to get is "A locked door, a rusty razor, a towel stained with red. A folded note, a broken mirror, and young girl lays there dead. Their emotions tangle, the room begins to swirl; she was Mommy's perfect angel and Daddy's little girl." I want this for a few reasons all of which are very important to me and I was wondering if anyone has experience with rib cage tattoos and can give me a little insight on how painful it could be to get something like this done? Thanks.

I love that poem.

I have a tattoo that goes all the way across my rib cage (left side) and then one that goes almost all the way down my ribcage on my right side.

When I was getting the one on the left I was squeezing my arm so hard that I gave myself a bruise. I never teared up tho! It was really painful, and one of my tattoo artists told me that if i was some idea of how bad the tattoo would hurt in a certain area, you should pinch yourself as hard as you can in that spot, and it should give you some idea of the pain to come.

But overall i think you should definitely stick with getting that tattoo, even though it will hurt like none other, it will be worth it at the end!

What is your perception of a girl with a rib cage tattoo?

I really love the idea of a rib cage tattoo but the only girl I know who has one 1) has it going down her crotch and 2) has a clit ring.
I want a short poem with maybe a small cluster of stars. I'm very conservative and I have 2 tattoos already that I basically forget about because I'm always covered up.
So, would a rib cage tattoo make me seem trashy? Do you think a guy would be turned off by this? (I know I shouldn't care, but I do :/)
When you think of a girl who has a rib cage tattoo what is your opinion on the type of person that girl is.

I have a tattoo on my rib cage and I love it! I don't think they seem trashy at all and are beautiful and a perfect way of expressing yourself! I got a quote with stars as well and I think its perfect! You wouldn't regret it...and it doesn't hurt as bad as everyone makes it seem!

carpe diem means live the day...not live to the fullest. It's about following immediate urges, not planning for long term happiness. Honestly, it's a reckless mantra to follow over long periods of time.

Well dear, what exactly do you feel about life, regrets, and belief? You should be inspired by someting before you mark yourself with it...not decide to get a marking and scramble to find something to fill space. You're doing it all backwards.

Center yourself, read some books, live some life, find something that really speaks to your soul, and come back to the tattoo thing in a few years when you're really ready. Please don't do it just get a tattoo because it's trendy..especially a quote. If you want something fast, get an image. An image is more prone to interpretation than actual words. Getting a quote is something different...it's an unabstracted definition of something that's a part of you...either it's a mantra you live by or it's a phrase that got you through a tough time or it's something that someone you loved repeated to you...something along those lines. Picking something at random might not hold up over time. You don't want to live with something untrue.

This is a question for guys, but girls can answer if they want too.
When I get older I wanted to get tattoos and a simple belly piercing. I wanted the words 'Young and Beautiful tattoo in fine print on both my wrists. I wanted 'You are beautiful' tattooed in french on my rib cage. I also wanted three little black sparrows the top of my back (not my shoulder blade, right under it). Then I wanted a little heart on my ankle. And lastly, I wanted the word 'Peace' on my hip bone 'cause I'm a Libra and they love peace.
What do you guys think of these tattoos? I asked some of my close guys friends and they said they don't like belly piercings or tattoos on an African american girls, and that's what i am, but I'm not dark, I have a fair skin tone.
There's a 50/50 change I might actually do this when I turn eighteen. Thank you for all your answers:)
