i love when girls have really colorfull tattoo's like koi's and flowers, i find those sexy on women, even more sexy on the upper arms and legs (calfs, hips/thigh area)

i dont really like when girls go hardcore and get demonish stuff lol, dont get me wrong its probably a really nice lookin tattoo, if i really liked a girl and she had a demonish tat though it wouldnt bother me..its her body after all, people shouldnt be judged by their tattoos :)

If I was a guy I'd definitely get them, but my friend thinks I should get them anyway.
I'm not planning on doing this any time soon though.

I'm a woman & I have my right arm sleeved. I'm a professional, well educated, married... I go to work in a suit not in a bikini, my clients don't know I have tattoos. Tank tops & short sleeves are unprofessional in an office in my opinion. Tattoos aren't trashy, people are trashy. My sleeve is ME. It's not generic tribal and koi, it's completely original and actually means something to me. It's taken over 3 years to become a sleeve as I added to it over time. I don't care what anyone else thinks about it. It's mine and I love it. If you want something, do it, own it, and be you.

Ideas for tattoo meaning strength and overcoming odds?

I'm adding to my tattoos and have hit a block. I'm looking to do either a half sleeve or at least a good portion of the upper arm. I like the symbolism of koi fish, the overcoming odds and strength but, i want some other ideas than just the fish because i already have one. Any ideas how to capture the same idea?

you could do a really cool etherial tipped scale. you could do the ani difranco woman where its a shillouhete of a woman showing her muscles. my own personal tattoo is one i like. its kinda of mantra for me "im the strongest girl i know" those are just some ideas

Is there something that symbolizes something alone the lines of staying strong, persevering and getting back up when you fall? Or something that represents overcoming some hardships? I've been doing some research for a tattoo that I may like to get and came across the koi fish but I'm not really feeling it for a tattoo. I was also looking at some lotus flower tattoos. Another thing I came across was the phoenix-rise from the ashes.

If anyone else can give some inspiration it would be greatly appreciated.

If your looking for something from nature then your headed in the right direction. African cats (lions etc) are a great survival symbol. Or if you like the lotus flower maybe you could have it set in a desert background representing beauty and survival in a harsh climate? The lotus flower is definitely a favorite for women! lol Pretty flower. :) My sister in law mentioned something about roses having many different meanings according to their color and maturity the other day when I was giving her a rose tatt. :) You might do a little research on that? Good luck. If i have any epiphanies I will let you know. :) I like celtic symbolism but it sounds like thats not what your looking for.

There are lots of ideas, but if this girl who is looking for ideas is you, I think you should figure it out for yourself. Nobody should make the decision for you. It's a very big commitment, a tattoo, and you alone should be responsible for where it goes. I don't mean to sound bossy and high and mighty, but so many people get tattoos in places they wouldn't normally just because of a suggestion from a friend or even worse a stranger. This is why so many women got tattoos on their lower backs in mass numbers years ago.
