When are we going to stop giving our kids "trendy" names? Don't we realize our kids are going to get old?

I can see it now.
"Hey kids. How about we go to Grandma Brittney's House!"
"Yeah. Maybe if we're good she will show us her tattoo on top of her a ss!"

Answer
I do see what you are getting at. But as I believe (I don't have the statistics to hand, but I remember it from some government site...) that Britney/Brittany/some variant of Brittnee - is now one of the top 10 most popular names, it is in fact a jolly common name and won't be seen as "trendy" or at all unusual about 50 years from now. There will be thousands of Grandma Britneys.

I do wish parents would not do the "trendy" spellings of names though - one woman got rather cross with me when I pronounced her son's name - it was written as Tyr-Irn, which I assumed was pronounced "tyre iron" (I just thought she'd given him a silly name) but it turns out he's actually pronounced "Tyrone". So boo to trendy spellings like that.

Um. I am in the UK and tattoos are very much the norm here - I'm afraid a lot of us already have grandmas with tattoos (certainly a LOT of Grandpas too!) and there are millions of tattooed mums around! I think it must have a different social status here - there will be a vast number of tattoed grandmas here in 50 years!

Hitting up girls on vacation?

Ryan

I'm visiting Oregon in a month and I want to hit up girls and get their numbers but I'm too shy so how do I also get over the fear?

Answer
Being shy means not being confident and that is a prime attribute for rejection from popular ladiesâunless you inspire sympathy for being pathetic.

To solve the confidence issue, you'll have to have some measure of success. Try this simple challenge: Go up to 50 attractive ladies (individually or as you find them grouped) and pay them a sincere compliment: great hair, beautiful eyes, nice shoes, cool tattoo... it doesn't really matter except avoid anything they would have heard a dozen times already this week. If their response is not negative, ask for their number without any pretense. See if you can get all 50 to decline to give their number. I bet you can't.

The first few asked will sense your insecurity and reject you. But by the time you get to the 20th or 30th, you will not care so deeply about being rejectedâeventually working up to being indifferentâand that projects confidence. You will then begin getting phone numbers. That will increase confidence and the ratio should approach 100% of the eligible ladies at the end.

It doesn't matter what you look like, sound like, or smell like (within reason). In selecting males, women use signals related to whether other women would be attracted to youânot anything about your image. If they believe several women already want you, that is far more attractive to them than anything else.
