It's changed a great deal since both me and my ex-wife started getting inked. We were getting tattoos before getting them was cool. There was an amazing prejudice that is almost nonexistent today. Everyone I worked with, I had known for years anyway, so no big deal there. I was an engine builder and mechanic for many years. My tattoos generated lots of negative attention from strangers. My ex found it hard to socialize with many. Tattooed women were almost unheard of. But now, over half the people you meet under thirty have some sort of ink. And more than half of all unskilled laborers have ink. If you make it a habit to ask, you'll find that a great many professional people have tattoos. The industry has come a long way. In my home town, there were five tattoo shops. Now, there are a hundred and forty-four. Yes, times have changed.
