Okay well i just turn 16 and i really want to get my moms first initial in this beautiful handwriting on top of my hand, next to my thumb and pointing finger anyways. I want to get one like this year but what do i need? I heard a signed parental consent allowing the tattoo artists to tattoo me but what else? Do they have to be there? Do they pay a fee? I absolutely believe you are sincere in your desire for a tattoo. I would not for a second patronize you and give you the, "You'll regret it later...you're just going through a phase," speech. Sounds like you've heard it. But if your parent or legal guardian won't agree to give you permission and accompany you (whatever the requirements are, I have no idea) the only mature thing to do is to wait until you meet the requirements. Your day will come.

Since it will go on her lower back, how about a "family vine" instead of a "family tree" ?? She could have the vine done and add hearts or maybe flowers with each child's initials. Kinda like adding charms on a bracelet i guess....another child is born, she adds on to the vine.

For my kids I have angel wings (pink/purple colored for my daughter and blue/green colored for my son) with their initials and birthdays in the middle of the wings. I have one tattoo on each shoulder blade. I think it's really cool when people do hand or foot prints... I almost wish I would have done that with my kids, but I totally love my tattoos.

Should I Get a Second Ear Piercing?

Q. Hi there ;D, I am 12 years old and i really want a second ear piercing next to my first one. I got my first one when i was about 6 months, so I don't remember anything :P. So, I just wanted to know how much it hurts when you get it done (From a Scale 1-10). well in my opinion if they let u get one at 6 months they should let you get more now that your older. i get mine at 7 months then i got two more at your age and i recently got my top one done (cartilage). im 15 now. a good place to get it done would be a tattoo and body peircing store. if they dont like that clares also does it. for about 25$ i got all mine done at tattoo parlor bc they are the most steril. most professional and there is useually a lot of nice ppl there to. regular peircing at the bottom now-a-days hurt 2 out of 10 and top hurts probably 8 out of 10 but there both totally worth it and cute. some things you should probably bring with you bc idk how old u have to be to get the bottom but ur socail security. birth certificate. your parents id. and the will have u fill out papper work. hope this helps any other questions about and on anything. hit me up girl!!!

What should I expect at MEPS?

I'm scheduled to go this coming tuesday, but I'm a little worried about the medical testing. I have absolutely no problems listed in my medical history except that I wear contacts. That is the one thing I'm worried about. I'm not sure what my vision is (ex:20/30), but my contact's case says I wear -7.00 in one eye and -7.50 in the other. Should I be that worried if the disqualifier is at +/- 8.00? Also I'm joining the Air Force and am interested in the geospatial intelligence field if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Are you a guy or girl? I can give you my experience but I am a girl, so a few things might be different for when you go.
You report in at 5am* I got in a 5am but had to wait for the air force guys to get to work before we started because they were running late*
After they have arrived you go into their office and you are givin' a whole speech about what to do and not to do through out the day, you give them your cell phones and they give you your folders.
After that they are supposed to take you to a room that you can place your bags in but one of the guys was nice enough to let me store my purse in his overhead locker in his office. They will talk to you about how you are not to leave your folder or let someone else hold it, and that today will be a long day and to just do as your told.
After that you go into a line and some people at a desk check you in and put your medical papers in your folder and mark some stuff on it and ask your social security number * if you don't know your ssn by now you will by the end of the day, it will be burned in your head* , on top of your folder will be the stages of MEPS that you need to go to and get checked. Then you go into a room to put on a piece of paper if you have tattoos and stuff like that and then give you the Breathalyzer( don't chew gum)
Eyes: eyes will be your first stop, for air force they will test your eye sight as well as if you are color blind or not. They will do the normal eye test and then a depth perception test and then a test to see if you have a lazy eye and stuff like that. Bring your glasses or contacts if you wear them. I stupidly left mine in my car and lets just say I was in the room FOREVER.
Hearing: hearing will be your next stop, you will go into a room that basically has a sound proof box in the room that you go into and some chairs with curtains in front and back of you. You are givin' little triggers that you press when you hear a sound but of course you always get that one jackass out of the bunch that thinks it's okay to hack up a lung while you take the test and you cant hear some of it. I wanted to punch the light out of the guy who did that during my test.
After this you will be taken to another room that separates the boys and the girls for the rest of the day.
You go into a room and they take you into this area that looks like bathroom that's doors and that's where they take your blood and then you go into another room and exercises the "exercises room" you will be asked to strip down to underwear and a bra if you are a girl and then a cover up and then reciereceive pee cup and to pee in front of the person who gave it to you. if you cannot pee on demand then you are shit out of luck, you miss fire you have to wait till' you can and normally if you cant pee by a certain time then they will tell you to go home and you have to start the process all over again ExcisExercisesExcerExercises will do a walking test, duck walk, flat feet test...etc.
Doctor visit: You will go into a room with a doctor and they will ask you your medical history.
Doctor check: you will wait all together in another room while the other person is in the room and they will turn the lights off to test your eyes again then turn the light back on, then ask you to lie back and he will check your stomach and stuff like that then check to see if you are really a boy or girl. My doctor told me to " spread my legs" which was uncomfortable coming from an 80 year old man lol.
* I was told by the guys that were there that they have to do the cough test and then get a finger up thier butt as well* who knows if they were serious or not though.
after that you go to check in at the desk with your check like * make sure you have all your paperwork done and in order or the guy will yell at you and embarrass you* and then he will place you in a swearing in class and then you are done for the day and report to your recruiter when you are done.Good luck :)

LOL, ok if your problem is because you are a USA woman, them do not tell ever guy that you meet that you are from the USA. You speak Spanish really well, just tell them you are from Spain or simply tell them that you are Mexican. There are a lot of Mexican white people that i Know. I am sure they will believe you. However, if you have an accent, then that is a bad idea.

I am going to get a tattoo that stretches from my chest to my shoulder, wraps around the back of my shoulder, and goes down to my elbow. (if you've seen dwayne "the rock" johnsons tattoo it's about the size of it). but see the thing is, is that i'm not into tribal, i don't know my family crest, i'm not samoan, I don't like skulls, dragons, nothin like that. any kind of fierce animal will do for you. like a bear, tiger, lion. things like that are common, like having the paw cutting into the skin on the chest and the rest going around the shoulder and down the back.

Hey guys I have recently been looking for tattoo ideas and on one blog I notice a few negative comments from guys. I currently have 3 tattoos. A butterfly on my upper arm, roses from my hip to my thigh, and a swirly design on my shoulder. I like to think of these as very feminine tattoos. I would just like to know what is your opinion of tattoos on women?

There will be guys that love them, and guys that hate them. It is all a matter of personal preference. You can't please everyone all the time, so why try? I love tattoos on women, the more tattoos the better. Before I got my sleeve, I would gawk at and compliment women with visible tattoos. They are the ones that inspired me to decorate my own body. I find I get alot of male attention due to my tattoos. Before my sleeve, I was a plain Jane that never got male attention. After my sleeve, I had something beautiful and unique about me. They are a great conversation piece. Both men and women come up to me and strike up conversations about them. I even inspired my mother in law to get her first tattoo at age 55. I say get as many as you want. Some people buy pretty paintings and hang them in their houses. We buy pretty artwork and put it in our skins. Best of luck to you and happy inking!

As an actor in training and a theatre make-up artist I can tell you what a pain tattoos are to deal with. I spent 15-20 min daily covering a girl's tattoo on the back of her neck for a show and because we didn't spend tons of money on special tattoo covering cosmetics you could still see the black outlines and touches of the navy. It was also a pain to get the make-up off. It took forever and it was a few days before the color was right again. Proper tattoo covering cosmetic for theatre can cost hundreds of dollars and it takes skill and time to apply it, and for film it's nearly impossible to hide tattoos without prohibitively expensive SPX. They aren't going to do through that for a nameless person even if they just might be god's gift to acting in a few years.

Think of it this way, as an actor your body and skill are your product. And abnormalities limit your marketability so the best thing to do is leave your body as it was naturally formed. Meaning no tattoos.

Where is the best place for a female to get a tattoo?

First of all: heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies - avoid that to avoid hair loss, specially if you've got brown hair. The sun fades hair dyes, use a wide brim hat or umbrella.

(i actually asked the opposite to this question, wanting to know what tattoo styles are trendy at the moment, but that upset the teenagers from the trailer park too much so i didn't get my answer and i'm rephrasing it.)

The tattoos that are not trendy are the ones that you get for you.
Custom works of art, about things that you love and are interested in.
My husband has a Cave art painting reproduced on his chest.
I have a Celtic Dragon from an ancient piece of jewelry.
I have a wrist bracelet that I designed, filled with stuff that I love, my Dad's favorite flower, something from a dream,... all in my tattoo.
You can get anything, even if it is the trend of the moment, if you love it, and make it yours. You have to remember that body art has been around since the beginning of man/women, look up the Ice Man, and the Payzyrk mummies, etc. And you need to remember that images are art forms.
I think that people under 25 yrs old, forget, or have never thought, that whatever trend that they are seeing, isn't everyone else's life on the planet. That is because marketing has become so pervasive, that people forget that there is anything other than what is marketed,... that is 'seen' on TV, computer, movies, magazines, school, store, newspaper,... Imagine not being connected in these ways at all, would you know if Susie Whatsherface across town or in the next State, got a 'cute little monkey' tattoo? If you got a 'cute little monkey' tattoo, do you think that it would look anything like hers?

So, the answer to your question is, that if you get a tattoo for yourself, and not from anyone else's tattoo, or anything that is marketed, or anything that you saw at the current movie or eatery or mall, ... if you got your idea from yourself, and your life, then it will not be trendy.
Even if you get an image from a book or a poem or someone that you admired, it would be yours because it would be about what you care about, and you would not make your choices of design, color, placement etc. because of anyone else.
Look to yourself.

So I've been watching the trailer for it and I'm really interested in it now. But it's looks really confusing reminds me of the movie Inception. I plan on going to see it when it comes out (December 21, 2011). But I want to know who is this girl with the tattoo, does she have some type of power or something? What does she do?

December 2002. Mikael Blomkvist, publisher of the Swedish political magazine Millennium, loses a libel case involving allegations about billionaire industrialist Hans-Erik Wennerström. He is sentenced to three months in prison, and ordered to pay hefty damages and costs. Soon afterwards, he is invited to meet Henrik Vanger, the retired CEO of the Vanger Corporation, unaware that he had commissioned an investigation into Blomkvist's personal and professional history. This was carried out by Lisbeth Salander, a surveillance agent with Milton Security.
Blomkvist is promised considerable financial reward and solid evidence against Wennerström, in exchange for writing the Vanger family history. Vanger believes that his greatneice, Harriet, was murdered by a member of the family 36 years earlier. Blomkvist moves to the Vanger estate and becomes immersed in the history of Harriet's disappearance.
Salander, who was ruled legally incompetent as a child, is under the care of legal guardian Holger Palmgren, but he has a stroke. Her new guardian, Nils Bjurman, is a sadist who uses his position to sexually abuse her in return for access to her own money. After he rapes her, Salander takes her revenge by torturing him and threatening to ruin him unless he gives her full control of her finances.
Blomkvist discovers Salander has hacked into his computer, and persuades her to assist him with researching Harriet's disappearance. Using her evidence, Blomkvist prints an exposé and book which ruins Wennerström and catapults Millennium to national prominence. Salander, using her phenomenal skill with computer hacking, succeeds in stealing more than a quarter of a billion dollars from Wennerström's secret bank account. Q. I just got one this last summer on my lower back and I am 40. My 17 year old daughter went with me so I had to act like it did not hurt too bad! It actually hurt like hell-but I love it now Mine has the word "IMAGINE" with angel wings highlighted in lavender on each side. Kind of a tribute to someone ery special who has passed.
I didn't ask if you thought they were trashy I asked if you had one-so glad you got your 2 points for answering. Mine is dedicated to my dad who passed from brain cancer 3+ years ago. The song "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me was my inspiration.

The nefers symbol in egyptian hieroglyphics means "beauty" but it's not going to be a very attractive tattoo...
As for mayan symbols, I'm sorry, I know little about their symbols. However, there is a symbol of a heron (bak) in mayan symbolisms and herons are both beautiful and strong.

I think you will, and already have, gotten two very different sets of responses from two very different sets of people.
People either love 'em or hate 'em!
The thing is, generations are becoming more and more tattooed as time goes on. I myself have a few, which I love, and plan on getting more. My Mother absolutely hates them, and wishes I still had the "skin and body of a woman" meaning untouched and unaltered. In my opinion, colorful designs pictures and scrolls, are just as beautiful (if not more) than soft flesh, and plain skin. I understand her argument, but just love the art form too much to agree.
Tattoos tell stories, and start conversations. There is no more beautiful form of art, than the art someone chooses to be on them forever and represent them in this permanent form of beauty.
Know what you want, do your research, and fall in love with every tattoo you choose to get. Even someone who doesn't agree with tattooing, can appreciate someone loving their body, and feeling proud of what you do with it!

How can I convince my g/f to accept new friend with tattoo's?

So much is happening here in India. Esperanza and I are finally starting to relax now that we've identified the place where we want to get Ryan his tat. Thanks for the suggestions, everybody! We still have to book the appointment.

Anyway, remember that âbackpackerâ we saw getting tattooed at Baby Tiger Tattoo in Randi Market? We ended up seeing her in a âdhabaâ (like a diner) with her boyfriend....and their little one! It turns out they are Israeli. So we chatted with them and about their tattoo experience. Aleah (the backpacker) has a whole bunch of tattooâs. She has:
- a white tiger on her left ankleâ¨
- two tigers with Chinese symbolâs for best friends in between on left shoulderâ¨
- memorial for her dead ferret on right ankleâ¨
- a dragonfly on right shoulder
- a dragonfly on wrist â that was the one we saw her getting!

She told us the story behind each one, and we were very touched. So meaningful! All I can say is that we are VERY anxious (in a good way)!

Their daughter, Netanya, is around 7 monthâs, so she and Ryan got along well. Aleah and Namir (bf) invited us to go hiking with them in Dharamsala â that is up in the mountainâs where the Dalai Lama lives!!!

We really want to go, but there is one small problem. As you know, Esperanza thinks women with tattooâs are sort of trashy.....I know, I know....she canât help it though, itâs her cultural upbringing. I think itâs ironic because Aleah and Namir are Israeli and they are not âsupposedâ to get tattooâs either...Ranza doesnât get the irony.

Help! What can I do to convince her otherwise??? I REALLY want to go to Dharamsala (and I know she would enjoy it, too)....

I have been following this saga from the beginning, From the dragonfly picture that I saw from the "Baby Tiger" artist, she is an amazing artist and I am sure that this backpacker's other ink is amazing as well! I really can't wait to see a picture of the ferret tattoo if you can get one because I lost my pet rat a while ago, and I have been looking for a memorial tattoo design on the internet and haven't been able to find one! I think with a picture of the memorial tattoo for the back packer's ferret in hand, I might be able to go to my artist and get my tattoo started! I mean without an exact picture of what you want, how can you expect your artist to get the tattoo right?!?
But I digress...
Anyway, if Esperanza has seen the amazing art that on this woman, and she still thinks that tattoos on women are trashy, then there is no changing her mind! So my dilemma is that I have 9 tattoos already. I have one on my foot, one on my ankle, one on the side of my leg, one on my wrist, one on each boob, one behind my ear, one on my shoulder and one on the back of my neck. I have plans to get a half sleeve on my right arm, and a tree and a date on on my right wrist. Now if you're gunna tell me tattoos are trashy go right ahead. I really do not care what you think, I just want opinions. I am not going to base my decision solely on the answers I receive on here. I have some ideas of my own as to where to get it, I just would like to see what other people think. All my tattoos have some sort of meaning to me, I don't get a tattoo just for the sake of getting a tattoo. The reason I have chose my last name is because no matter what it will always be apart of me. Even if I get married I will still have a connection to my last name.

People can be so rude and opinionated about tattoos these days. As long as they mean something to you, it doesn't matter what anyone else says

For a name tattoo it depends on how the writing style is going to be. Personally if I were to do my last name I would have it written like this

down the side of my back, just on the edge of being on the side.
Then I could add swirl and shadow accents around the edges going downward (helps elongate my body shape as I am quite petite)
