What are the laws for tattooing in Michigan?

I walked in to my sister's house yesterday and saw her husband giving a woman a tattoo on their couch while her two year old ran around, chasing the cat. This made me cringe. I could just imagine the infections and possible lawsuits.
What are the laws/regulations for tattooing in Michigan?

None. Its really up to the person getting tattooed to make sure they are in a clean environment.

You think that sounds bad? When I was 16 or 17 (mid 90s) we made tattoo machines and were giving tattoos in a filthy bedroom at a party house that did nothing but circulate drunkards LOL.

Even the most filthy setups will know to use alcohol or a lighter to do a rough cleaning of the material.

Believe it or not, even the cleanest shop has open air rooms, and uses a simple $400 piece of equipment to sterilized the tubes. However, you can get PRE sterilized tubes and needles for about $3.00 each that are disposable and come in airtight packages. So it can be cleaner than it appears.

Vaseline used to lubricate the skin stops the clients blood from flying out, so there really aren't contaminants in the air...Quite less than someone walking around with a small cut on their hand.

How do women act when they're having a mid-life crisis?

For years I've heard that men have a mid life crisis. I believe women have them too when they get to the point they begin to see aging and that they are not young looking anymore. How do women act/deal with it in general? And yes, I know different people act differently. I'd like to hear some different scenarios.

They may start to evaluate their life.
I think this is a time that women are aware that they may be half way through their lives and start to question what may not be working in their lives. Scenario 1-They may quit a job they feel bored in to go back to college to train for the career they really want.

Scenario 2-They may divorce their husbands.


scenario 3- some may get tattoos

scenario 4-start doing voluntary work to give back!!

Some like myself might do absouletely nothing different and be happy in where they are in life.

Question for tattoo artists or women with tattoos?

I want to get a tattoo of five small, simple stars on the small of my back. Does anyone know how or with what this would compare to on the pain scale? I've never gotten a tattoo before. Also, how much do you think it would cost? Thank you!

I am on 15+ tattoos and have built up no tolerance to them. My husband just got his first tattoo and I told him the best way to think of it is a cat scratch. The outline is the worst because it is always deeper than the shading/color if you are adding any.

As far as price, I would guess the range of $40-$60 ask long as it is just a simple tattoo.

Any miscarried women here carry a doll around after their loss?

I recently bought a baby doll for five bucks and I like keeping it with me. I keep it at home in my apartment. It's my replacement for the baby I lost. I named her Jennifer. Did any other women do this after their miscarriage?

Nope, I've had too many losses. I don't have enough hands to carry around that many dolls.

I have been considering getting a tattoo to help me grieve. Not something people would see, just 4 black lillies on my left side between my uterus and heart. So basically just something my husband and I would see. I like the thought of something that has had such an impact on me and my life having a perminate impact on my body.

Everyone needs to grieve after a loss. But you need to understand the difference between grieving a loss, and replacing. A doll can't replace a baby.
