I recently turned 18 and I got 3 tattoos, I got a sleeve I'm working on still and a tattoo on my upper back and 3 stars on my neck on the side of my ear. All my friends are telling me how gay my star tattoos are and saying only girls get star tattoos. Is it really a gay tattoo? And if so, how can I make them look more manly?
It is only an outline and nothing more, no color or anything.

Stars are gay tattoos? They know what? They are nuts. How come stars are innocent. Star is star, not a gay thing, it is universal, unisex thing. If you wanna have hot tattoos, consider pentacle ( star with magic symbols) I like something magical.

I'm a 15 year old girl and I want to get a tattoo. I really want to get something meaningful. My dad said I should probably get one on the back of the neck, so that's probably where I will get it. I don't know what I should get, but here are a few ideas that I had:

Hearts?
Stars?
A scorpio symbol
'Lucky Charm' written in fancy letter with a little four leaf clover (I'm Irish, just to let you know)
Just some four leaf clovers
Something written in Chinese, like 'Strength' or 'Love'
'Live, laugh, love'
I've also been thinking about getting something in remembrance of my granfma that died about a year ago. We were pretty close and I miss her a lot.

If you have any ideas, please let me know!

P.S. Please don't answer if all you're going to do is lecture me about how young I am.

You said you want something meaningful, and then you listed off a bunch of generic stuff that really means nothing to anyone. Yeah, you're irish but how important is that to you really?
I think you need to wait until something REALLY meaningful hits you. Don't waste the spot that you like on something that really doesn't strike a chord for you. If you can't specifically pick what you want, and you're leaving it up to a bunch of strangers, you're not going to care about this tattoo in a couple of years.

When you think of something really meaningful, you will know it and you won't leave it up to anyone elses opinion.

okay, ignore the negativity. i don't think people realize when they respond to a question they actually might want to ANSWER it lol. anyways, i'm a girl and i think it can be cute, as long as it's not overdone. someone did make the point that rihanna has it and unfortunately in you do get it you're gonna have a lot of people point out that obvious fact to you. stars in general can be cliche, but that's the same for hearts, butterflies, etc. you just need to make sure you make it your own. i have a tattoo i want with hearts and it looks amazing but its not your typical heart tattoo so no one can say anything lol.

oh and depending on the guy, some may love tattoos some might not. don't do it (or not do it) bc youre trying to impress a guy. you'll find one that loves you with or without tattoos--however you want to be.

I want to get a tattoo on the back of my neck, under my hairline or behind the ear. Something small and simple. I'm going away for college and want something that symbolizes my mom my sister and I. I was thinking something like a sun/moon and a star or a crescent moon and two stars. Any ideas? or pictures of some nice designs? I'm looking to keep discreet nothing too big.

I had the same mind set and now I regret my first tattoo. Put more thought into it beforehand, I wish I had. I now have many more, that all have meaning and I love them. But that very first one is one of the biggest regrets of my life. Plus, everyone gets a star. Do something more original. Like your zodiac sign or a tribute to someone close to you who passed, like a family member or friend. Or if you're a daddy's girl, get that written on you... SOMETHING other than a star - yuck!
Plus, neck tattoos can't be covered up if you get a job that requires you to have your hair up, like any branch of the military or if you work with food. I would reconsider the placement.
I've never had a neck tattoo and never will. The most painful places for me were my hipbone and upper ribcage/armpit area. My wrist didn't hurt at all (I have "mom" across my wrist in pretty letters) and my biceps didn't really hurt either. My backbone wasn't too bad. I usually take a nap during my tattoo time. But not my ribs & hipbones! I have to take a Vicodin beforehand for those! But most people aren't as good with pain as I am. I know LOTS of people with partial tattoos because they couldn't get theirs finished due to pain. It also depends on the artist. Some have a heavy hand, and don't use the right gauges of needles. Usually beginner tattooists are notorious for this. It makes you bleed a lot and it hurts more. More experienced artists don't make you bleed as much and don't cause as much pain, because they use the right needles. I have a regular artist I go to, because they are very experienced. I would never go to another for any reason. Check around your area before making you final decision!
