Harry Potter tattoo ideas?

I am really into the deathly hallows symbol and a lightning bolt, but I am just trying to think of some other ideas. (I am thinking on my wrist, inner arm, or ankle.) I love Ron and Snape, so any short quotes or words that are really meaningful to those characters would be greatly appreciated. Or any small pictures or symbols (i dont want anything big, so simple things are encouraged)

P.S. - only serious suggestions please. Don't try and tell me not to get a Harry potter tattoo, cause I will anyway.

Oh and if any of you got a tattoo on your stomach near your hip, how bad does it hurt?

I have stars on my hips. It was quite an uncomfortable feeling, as the skin there is rather thick and quite sensitive. Be careful putting it somewhere where the skin will stretch out when you get older, or if you get pregnant, as that can forever warp that tattoo.

Anyone think getting a Tattoo of stars is stupid?

This girl I know in my grade is getting 3 small stars on her wrist she says, does anyone think that's extremely pathetic?

Like it really annoys me, everyone I know gets stars, and that's it, it's tacky and overrated and unoriginal.

It honestly does not make sense to say that a star tattoo is unoriginal or overly done. Yes a lot of people have star tattoos but there's also a lot of people out there w/ tattoos of skulls, flowers, birds, hearts, lovers names, birth signs, and so on and you don't see them getting bashed. I think bashing star tattoos is a "fad" at the moment until sometime finds a new tattoo design to pick on. Who's to say that a star doesn't mean something to the person, yes people get it just to get but so what?! There's lots of people who do get a tattoo because it means something and others do it just to say hey look I have a tattoo. It's there choice so why would a design on somebody Else's body bother you so much? People need to quit being so judgmental of other people's art because you don't know why they got it and overall it's nobodies business but there own.

Can you join the army if you have a tattoo in your ear?

Q. I have a pretty small tattoo in my ear, and it's 3 stars, one big medium and small, I want to join the army, but don't know if I'd w aloud to or not? Please help me asap.

That will be a tough one. We put in a girl who had a tattoo of a flower behind her ear but I don't know if they'll allow a tattoo inside of it. Let a recruiter look at it so they can forward it up their chain of command and see if they will allow it.

@ TXDiver: If that was true then you wouldn't see people come to the military section daily complaining how they was rejected because of a felony, asthma, having only a GED, etc. We're not super-desperate like some people think and about 1 in 5 people in the US are actually qualified for military service.

For those of you who have multiple tattoos, how many of them come from something that's really meaningful or symbolic to you? Do you have any that you just liked the look of and wanted? What's the main reason behind what you choose to get tattooed?

i have 4 tattoos

#1: a broken heart with "this too shall pass" a Round it. I broke up with my boy friend that i had a kid with. (upper arm)
#2: The words "live life to the fullest" I put them to cover my cutting scars. (left wrist)
#3: the name "emma". that's my little girls name (right wrist)
#4: 3 stars on each side of my hips... they out line my hip bones. (blue) I have a thing for stars (be for they where cool) and my favorit color is blue.

Shooting star tattoos seem to be a popular form of tattoo. There are many different variations of shooting star tattoos. They can be incorporated into different tattoo styles and are usually tattooed on the arms, shoulders, ankles or abdomen.

Heres some groups of people who have them and why

1) A lot of people seem to be getting them because they express their inner desire to be a star and they generally look cool especially on females! Perhaps its because pop culture feeds into this desire to be a star.

2) a brief fleeting moment in ones life just like the brief wonder of seeing a shooting star race across the night sky. They can also be a symbol of reaching ones ultimate destiny and are popular among stars of the Hollywood variety.

3) Some cultures have always had strong beliefs and superstitions in the meaning of shooting stars. Traditionally shooting stars also meant a new birth and changes in ones life and also a wish for a better life.

4) The lesbian and gay connection is the one that does not seem so obvious at first. Historically back in the 1940's and 50's when alternative lifestyles were not the norm and often women had to hide their alternative choices they would sport a hidden nautical star. Often they would get the star tattoo done on the inside of their wrist where it could easily be hidden by a watch during the day but shown off in the evening when out on the town. Today many lesbians where the nautical star tattoo to show their connection with their early pioneering sisters.

5) Punk rockers have also adopted this as a popular symbol to have tattooed. Punks have taken this symbol and it has very much the same meaning of finding one way in life. 6) Many military people get a nautical star tattoo as a symbol for finding ones path home safely. Of course this can also include more symbolically just finding ones way in life.

It just goes to show that when the same powerful symbol is used over and over again over decades of time it can taken on very different meanings for different groups. So all of those that you see sporting a nautical star tattoo might not all have the same interpretation of its symbolism. It all depends on the person.
